Publisher's Summary

A woman disappears into the dark city night....

Gen is on the verge of a divorce from her cheating husband. When her sister, Meg, has a convention to attend in the Big Apple, she invites Gen along to celebrate her newly found freedom. But the perfect sisters’ getaway quickly goes awry when a tipsy Gen defiantly throws her wedding ring off the hotel room’s balcony. Then, wanting some fresh air, she decides to take a late-evening walk alone and vanishes without a trace.

The investigation that follows uncovers secrets - and betrayals - between sisters and spouses that will twist the truth in on itself until nothing is clear.

What really happened to Gen and who, besides Meg, was the last to see her?

YES YES YES 🙌

WOOHOO! After so many recent duds, THIS is my perfect listen. Vivienne Leheny’s narration is like candy in my ears. I love everything she does.

The story was somewhat predictable, but in a gradual, Intentional way. Tate was masterful at including something for everyone... suspense, mystery, romance, depth and light humor. Worth the credit!

Couldn't stop listening!

I get bored easily when listening to bad true crime novels. This one had me from the start!

Melodramatic and repetitive

It was ok at best. Fairly repetitive and a bit dramatic for my taste. The twist was fairly predictable.

Overall a Good Listen

Pretty good mystery. The author repeated distinctive phrases too many times throughout the book and that got annoying (one example: pregnant pause). Overall the story was good. The narrator was OK except when trying to do the little boy and older man’s voice. It was hard to listen to those, especially the child imitation. If you can get past those voices and the too-often repeated phrases it’s worth a listen.

I finished because I paid for it

The book drags and there is nothing dynamic about it. The narrator makes it hard to distinguish who is who at times. The sisters are annoying.

good suspense but didn't care for the ending

very good book and would recommend... written very well to keep the listener engaged and in suspense... only giving 4 stars for two reasons... narration sufficed but wasn't very good at distinguishing between characters at times... and I did not like the ending.. very anti-climactic for how thrilling the first 3/4 of the novel was... would recommend to my fellow thriller/suspense lovers but just be prepared for an unsatisfying (in my opinion) ending

So sad

Almost believable . I wish it did not have to end the way it did. Will Jen come back in another book. So sorry that Meg and Joe split up!
