Based on the No 1 hit podcast 'The Lazarus Heist'

Meet the Lazarus Group, a shadowy cabal of hackers accused of working on behalf of the North Korean state. It's claimed that they form one of the most dangerous criminal enterprises on the planet, having stolen more than $1bn in an international crime spree. Their targets allegedly include central banks, Hollywood film studios and even the British National Health Service. North Korea denies the allegations, saying the accusations are American attempts to tarnish its image.

In this staggering, global investigation, award-winning journalist Geoff White examines how the hackers have harnessed cutting-edge technology to launch a decade-long campaign of brazen and merciless raids on its richer, more powerful adversaries. It's not just money they're after. The Lazarus Group's tactics have been used to threaten democracies, gag North Korea's critics and destabilize global peace.

From the bustling streets of Dhaka, to the glamorous studios of Hollywood, to the glittering casinos of Macau and the secretive dynastic court of Pyongyang, this shocking story uncovers the secret world of the Lazarus Group, their victims and the people who have tried—and ultimately, so far failed—to stop them.

True Crime - Mission Impossible Style

I gained a substantial amount of information and yet had a great time all doing it. Espionage, hacking, international crime, everything you could want in a book.

powerful insight into the world of cybercrime

a must listen for anyone involved in cyber security to understand some of the tactics used by cyber criminals and the details of how they operate. also a very in depth analysis of the bank of Bangladesh heist which anyone involved or working with the SWIFT platform should appreciate.

superb work

this is a fantastic listen and a meticulously researched piece of work. Geoff White has written a true eye-opener into North Korea's prowess in tech, hacking, money and payments, as well as its ability to think strategically and outwit opponents of much greater size and wealth.

A wild tale full of home truths - listen now!

I’ve worked in cyber security for many many years and it always pains me how as professionals we don’t always do the best job of explaining what the risks are and how the general public can reduce their risk.

Geoff does a truly excellent job of opening up what goes on in this heady world. The story is thrilling, chilling, yet explained in a way that is helpful to the listener and unpacks technical jargon.

I thoroughly recommend you stop what you’re doing and start listening to this audio book right now.

Excellent

Highly recommended. The book is very well researched and also very well written. Though the book is sufficiently technical it is accesible to the non expert on cybersecurity and a riveting read.

An outstanding lesson in modern cyber crime!

Geoff White brings to life the crazy world of North Korea's cyber crime group, breaking it down so the non-techies can understand it.

By the end of the book, you will be questioning every email you open!

Excellent content let down by authors narration

Really interesting and well researched and explained book. Fascinating how North Korea are using cyber criminal activity to get around sanctions.

This book was sadly let down by the authors narrating style - I can only describe it as a sort of slightly higher pitch on one word pretty much in the middle of each sentence and it really got annoying. It's a sort of BBC-style narration. I found myself listening out for it, knowing it would come every sentence...and it did come every sentence. Completely distracted me at times.

Whoever produced the audiobook should have pulled him up on this and told him to stop doing it. It's a shame because otherwise, this was an excellent book.

Rocket men and hackers!

Geoff does an amazing job of recounting North Korea's history and hacking escapades. He dives deep into their most well known stories, however, this book did not provide me much more insight into the Lazarus group.

Sadly North Korea is too secretive even for Geoff!
