Publisher's Summary

If you listen to nothing else on women in leadership today, I hope you listen to this….

In 2021, less than 10 percent of CEOs at Fortune 500 companies are women. Five years prior, female executives only made up 4.3 percent of the Fortune 500 CEO. The number is even strikingly lower for minority women. Even though statistics show that more women are obtaining higher degrees than men, women only earn 82 cents for every $1 men earn. Moreover, when it comes to salary negotiation, research shows that both men and women will judge a woman less favorably who asks for a higher starting salary than a man with the same credentials asking for the same salary.

This may sound discouraging and depressing that there are unspoken rules women must navigate to be successful in the workplace.

If you are tired of being passed up for promotions and turned away from high leadership positions, you are not alone. So many women are fighting the same fight each day in all industries.

Hang in there. Mona Davis is here to help!

Easy-to-follow techniques for women in leadership

It’s shocking to hear the statistics mentioned in this audiobook about how few women are in executive positions even though they are highly educated. It’s sad that we’ve come so far in some areas and yet in the workplace, women are not paid an equivalent wage to a man with the same credentials. If you need help getting noticed at work and want to earn your seat at the table, this is the book for you. This author will help you develop the skills you need to become an effective leader.

Great motivation for my girlfriend.

Like many people, my significant other suffers from a lack of confidence in the workplace environment, and unfortunately, employers take advantage of that and walk all over you. Being kind and passive is certainly good for some things, but not when you're trying to move up in your position. I can't seem to get through to her, so I bought her this book, and it has done wonders. I think hearing this advice from a woman's point of view is crucial to helping her understand. I think it will make a great impact on her life.

Very Informative

This book is loaded with helpful information including ways to recognize and categorize the daily struggles some women face. I bought this for my wife to listen to and she thought it was fascinating. A lot of the information she recognized as factors that all women face. She really like the idea of not just fitting in but empowering yourself and other women to take on larger responsibilities and earn bigger roles and pay cheques. This book isn't about how women should be given anything for free it's about how a women can realistically take control of her life and rise up to challenges the real world throws at her. Great book!

A great source of motivation!

Gender equality is rampant especially if your are working at a men dominant workplace. As a struggling career woman myself, I have been through a lot just to get to where I am currently at. I have been through countless of job interviews wherein they would tell me that I am not fit for the role because I am a girl. This really made it hard for me to grow as a leader in my career. Fast forward, I wanted to take the next step and grow to become a leader that motivates and creates the best decisions for her team. This book has it all. Tips and guides on what you should do and what type of leader your are! Highly recommend.

Great Book.

My wife got this for me on my birthday, she made sure I listened to it, as I have some women under me at my office. My question was "why she wants me to listen to a book on leadership for women?" But she insisted I listened to it as a present.
However, I will say that I have come to learn more about the challenges women face in their workplace, and with this new understanding, I can be a better ally for women in my office.
I think Every man should also get a copy of this book.

Loved that it addresses equity in the workplace

Let's face it- equity in the workplace is a huge issue for women. This book helped guide me though some tricky waters in the workplace so that I could more easily collaborate with, and would be taken more seriously by men. The tips on how to integrate better and get people on board so we could work as a team are invaluable. I also really appreciated the insight on must have leadership skills. There are so many golden nuggets in this book, that I can't recommend it enough! I'll leave you with one that hit home with me, which was how state representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez uses fear as a beacon of improvement instead of a stopping point. Great listen.

A very useful book for women starting and navigating their way through the workplace and their careers. Having achieved a leadership position I found the first few chapters offered a chance for me to reflect on myself and how I lead my team. I particularly enjoyed the collaboration and legacy chapters which I can put into use as I move forward. Give it a read and get your mindset right to succeed.
