Publisher's Summary

One geek stuck in a world of hurt.

Gamer, geek, and legendary vampire Bill Ryder isn’t having a great day. His girlfriend is lost in another dimension, his apartment’s been staked out by werewolves, and to top it all off, he’s flat broke.

Too bad there’s no rest for the wicked. Monstrous beasts of biblical proportions have been unleashed upon the world, leaving Bill with a mighty big question—how the hell is one poor-ass vamp supposed to stop something the size of a battleship?

All’s not lost, though. With a magic hammer by his side along with friends too stupid to quit, Bill will have to pierce the veil and explore a strange new world for answers. Success will mean saving everyone he knows, including his lost love. If he fails, however, it’ll be far more than just his credit rating that’s left in ruins.

Gamer, geek, and legendary vampire Bill Ryder is back in the latest novel of the Bill of the Dead series by best-selling urban-fantasy author Rick Gualtieri.

If you enjoy Jim Butcher, Hunter Blain, Orlando Sanchez, or Shane Silvers, then dive neck-first into this side-splitting world of horror hilarity today.

Painful to finish

Just…wow. I really liked the original series but this sequel series is getting more and more painful. Bill gets trash left and right and it’s not even haha. It’s past cringe and to the point of unbearable. He wins literally nothing and always loses. He continues to live because of others doing dam near everything else. Some could pull this off like comedic relief, but as I said, it’s not even funny. Here’s what I mean; warning there is a bit of spoilers here

He’s the second most powerful vampire yet gets his butt whooped by everyone, even a 16YO girl. His free-will power is useless so he’s not special in the slightest. The girl he loved the whole last series dumped him, died and was replaced by his friend who treats him worse than most people treat strangers. His GF of years wanted to hide the whole relationship and the girl who he helped raise is a complete brat to him and him alone. Everyone talks crap about him and none of his plans work. Hell…they made Tina so powerful and intelligent there is no need for any character. Idk if I’m allowed to say this, but Bill has been ultra-c*cked this whole sequel series and it’s to the point where I don’t even want to continue.

disappointing at best

Bills constant ineptitude is getting to be too much, I'm all for some comic relief but shit even the dumbest of people learn something from there mistakes, it's like deus ex machina in reverse, shit r starters to look up, guarantee Bills going to "accidentally" fuck it up.

Bill and the gang having world ending adventures once again

I loved traveling back to the world where Bill and his merry band of supernatural misfits live. This is the 4th book in the horror comedy urban fantasy Bill of the Dead series. I love that Bill’s character, despite having unique supernatural powers, is still a sweet, snarky, messy, lucky, kind of dumb, and awkward man who regularly screws up which makes him a very likeable hero. This book picks up where the last one left off. Christy is lost to another dimension, Sally is still the harbinger of the Great One and currently missing, Tom is still in Sheila’s body, Ed is still a special vampire, Tina is still too powerful for her age, and Glenn is still using horrible disguises. The goal is to try to save Christy and stop the Great One. As the story progresses, the team continues to fight evil while trying not to die or bring about the end of the world. Most of the characters from the previous books are in this book and there are also a few new characters who are introduced. The story includes what you’d expect from this genre - fighting, dangerous situations, supernatural creatures, evil masterminds, henchmen, loyal friends and family, tragic back stories, mystical coincidences, snark, and laughs. I will definitely keep reading the series to see what evil beings and plans are thwarted by Bill and the rest of the crew.

Christopher John Fetherolf once again does a phenomenal job narrating this book. His inflection is spot on and his depth and variety of voices bring added dimension to this already fantastic story.

Great advancement of the series!

The Liching Hour pays off at every level: humor, horror, action, adventure, even a little romance and a cute kitten. On top of that we've got some great world-building and plot advancement--definitely NOT just a filler piece, don't miss this one! The pairing of Mr. Fetherolf with this series continues to be absolute genius; he is the voice of Bill and his delivery of other characters runs from enjoyable to absolutely hysterical.

One of the best parts of this second series is catching the actual evolution of the main characters. Bill remains something of a clueless jerk who usually means well, but you get increasing peaks under the surface at a little more maturity and responsibility. I guess a second round of apocalyptic events can be good for a guy, who knew?

Enjoyed every minute. Looking forward to the next one.

Fantastic Installment!!!

I have been a long-time listener, since the first 8 books of the Tome of Bill series. Then with this current Bill of the dead series! This installment was fantastic!!!!! I loved every minute of it, the story took a different direction than what I was expecting but I was not disappointed! Rick has once again delivered a great read/listen, I cannot wait until the next book in the series comes out! I'll be counting the days until it does! If you see this review Rick I just wanna say fantastic job!!!

It’s worth the money or credits or coins spent.
Thank you

Loved it

I never realized how bad it must’ve been for those that have been getting these books one by one as they come out. I was lucky enough to have been able to grab the first 2 three packs and a few past that before I caught up. The cliff hangers are brutal. I miss being able to simply start the next one immediately. Can’t wait for this story to continue
