What if your son had murdered someone?
Sarah always thought of herself and her husband, Tom, as good people. But that was before their son, Freddy, came home saying he'd done something terrible. Begging them not to tell the police.
Soon Sarah and Tom must find out just how far they are willing to push themselves, and their marriage, to protect their only child....
As the lies build up and Sarah is presented with the perfect opportunity to get Freddy off the hook, she is faced with an impossible decision....

I am now a fan of Jane Corry novels.
What a truly addictive, interesting and beautifully read novel. I cannot wait to now listen to all of Jane Corry's previous novels and will be eagerly awaiting any more in the future

Slow story, annoying narration
I found the story so slow, the characters flat and unlikeable, this is the first book I couldn't even listen to til the end. The narrators voice grated on my nerves so badly half way through, it sounded as though she was constantly on the verge of tears. I'm so sorry if the narrator is reading this, I don't mean to be mean. I have absolutely loved all Jane correys other books but this was dull dull dull 😔

The human experience, skillfully told
Love the way the story unfolded gradually. It's a thought-provoking, compassionate, suspenseful and believable story, skillfully told by Jane Corry. I thoroughly enjoyed it. However, I was slightly irritated by the narrator's voice and on odd occasions her word stress felt wrong. I can't help feeling that a male narrator reading Tom's chapters would have been better, too. In novels where the viewpoint changes at every chapter, I think two narrators would be much more effective.

Tooo draaaaaaaawn out (could be 7 hrs)
I cant believe this book is written by Jane Correy, so unlike her other books (all of which I have read and enjoyed). It's veery drawn out, everything thought of the main character is explained (or seem like it) and some scenes repeated. The narrator is good but soooooooooo slow. Many times I was so tempted to give up. Its a slow family drama - not suspense/mystery/thriller!

Not for me
I feel bad giving this one star, but I honestly found this book so slow and boring. I didn’t care much about any of the characters and I didn’t like the narration much either.

Big let down from this author
I have enjoyed other books by Jane Cory but this one was a huge let down for me. The story didn't really go anywhere and the characters were weak and unlikable.
The narration needed to be done by a male and female to aid the story being told by two different view points.

Great story
Real human interest and the author didn’t need to resort to foul language like so many others
