Publisher's Summary
Shocking, dark, addictive - The Lies You Told is the latest compulsive thriller from Harriet Tyce, best-selling author of Blood Orange.
Sadie loves her daughter and will do anything to keep her safe.
She can't tell her why they had to leave home so quickly - or why Robin's father won't be coming with them to London.
She can't tell her why she hates being back in her dead mother's house, with its ivy-covered walls and its poisonous memories.
And she can't tell her the truth about the school Robin's set to start at - a school that doesn't welcome newcomers.
Sadie just wants to get their lives back on track.
But even lies with the best intentions can have deadly consequences....
Critic Reviews
"A jaw dropping last line twist." (Lisa Jewell, number one best-selling author of The Family Upstairs)
"Impossible to put down." (Independent)
"I adored Blood Orange and therefore could not wait to get my hands on The Lies You Told. It is a triumphant encore, every bit as intriguing, well-written and addictive as its predecessor." (Sara Collins, award-winning author of The Confessions of Frannie Langton)

Had to return
I had to return this. I did not like Blood Orange but hoped for improvement. There was none. Dreadful characters at prestigious school (am sure they can’t all be that bad). Daughter had to attend said school according to (awful) dead mother’s will. Personal email put in junk folder? Please....The tale looked set to be as convoluted as Blood Orange and I couldn’t bear to listen any more. It was quite difficult to distinguish between two of the female characters and I didn’t know who was speaking. There was also a mysterious (awful) husband lurking in America. Could not carry on reading anymore.
I won’t be tempted by any more by this author.

So glad I ignored the bad reviews
Incredible book! Just as good as Blood Orange. Kept me so gripped. I'm so glad I wasn't put off by the negative comments. Saw a one star for being unrealistic because 'nobody eats that much Pizza'. They only had it 3 times throughout the whole book and that was split between 2 characters. Madness

Was quite repetitive, they do the school run, go to work, weekend. Not as good

Disappointing sequel to Blood Orange.
A poor main plot alongside a predictable sideline one, this book just didn’t grab me like my previous Tyce read Blood Orange.

Not as good as Blood Orange
I only got this because I loved Blood Orange. Sadie, as a character, isn't a patch on Alison. The story just drags on and on. I was shouting with impatience at Sadie in some parts because she was just so weak and bloody slow. Save your credit, get something else.

Couldn’t put it down!
Excellent story, a constant undercurrent of something brewing kept the suspense all the way through. There was a time towards the end if they story where things didn’t stack up fully for me, but overall a listen that I couldn’t put down at all! Even did my food shop and had my eyelashes done with my earphones in 🤣🤣

Enjoyable enough
I had high expectations after blood orange (which I devoured and gave 5 stars). This one didn't quite hit the mark for me. The main character seems too weak to be a barrister. The storyline involving the posh mothers at school was bit much for me. Some of it seemed pretty over the top and hard to believe a professional such as a barrister would let people run all over her like that. The story line involving the estranged husband took a long while to be explained and felt like it needed more back story? Parts of the book seemed quite odd and a bit too convenient. An ok read. I like the writing style. The narrator did a reasonable job.
