Publisher's Summary

Fulton J. Sheen - bishop, scholar, professor, radio and television personality, and writer - spent his life sharing the Word of God with millions of Christians across the world. One of his best-known works is The Life of Christ, written in 1954. This book explores the foretelling of Christ's birth, his life, temptations, death, and resurrection. But while Sheen himself was a scholar and an academic, his recounting is both listenable and accessible to the layperson.

Life of Christ is considered a classic work of Christian faith. It is unique in its listenability, which is, perhaps, unsurprising from a theologian with decades of experience bringing religion to the masses on radio and television.

Broken into five parts, the book explores the early life of Christ, his temptations, the beatitudes, his public life and passion, and his death and resurrection. Sheen explains the meaning of Christ's words, as well as the significance of the trials and temptations he overcame. Through careful scholarship, he connects the events of Christ's life, showing how even the humble location of his birth on Earth shared an important lesson: Divinity is always where we least expect to find it.

Definitely abridged

This is advertised as "unabridged" but it is most definitely abridged. Unabridged book has 62 chapters. This one has only 5

Not the whole 'Life of Christ' just 5 chapters

if you are looking for the whole book this is not it. I suspect this is 'THE life of Christ' not 'Life of Christ' .

NOT THE SAME AS THE BOOK. VERY DIFFERENT

I greatly enjoyed the written version of this book. I've been waiting for years for an audible version - and had great anticipation for it. However, I was highly disappointed. All they needed to do is have someone read the book - but this seems like an introduction to some of the chapters - without a majority of the actual book. It's really false advertising to call this an audible version of the book.

very good

this book is a summary of The Life of Christ as viewed by most reverent Bishop Colton Sheen. it's great that this man is an American. it's great to have both a Catholic and an American perspective in the English language examining the life of our savior. there's not one word in this book that is wasted. you will enjoy this book and give it a chance God bless you

Great Work

This is the second greatest book ever written. It is second only to the Bible.
The insights given here are solid and classic. They will never grow old.

A Very Thought Provoking Work From The 1950s

I greatly appreciated this work. The author was a Catholic Bishop from the 1950s. He was a renowned theologian who I specifically recall teaching on the radio. This work is similar in construct to a series of lectures or homilies. I liked it very much. I did proceed slowly. Although it is clearly written and very well read, there is much fuel for thought and I needed to take my time to digest it in pieces. Thank You….

Fulton Sheen at his best

Narration was graceful. Just the right amount emphasis, and a similar pacing to Sheen's own delivery. I've enjoyed it twice. Will probably again.
