Publisher's Summary

The Lion's Game adds an immersive musical soundtrack to your audiobook listening experience!*

Booktrack editions are essentially a new genre of digital storytelling entertainment. Music and ambient audio are added to complement and enhance the audiobook experience. It is a synchronized movie-style soundtrack that complements the narration of existing audiobooks; the tempo and rhythm of the score harmonize with action, dialogue, and the characters' emotional arcs.

"The Lion" will be landing. And at New York's JFK Airport, an elite American task force waits as the notorious Libyan terrorist prepares to defect to the West. Then, aboard Flight 175, something goes eerily, horribly wrong - a mere prelude to the terror that is to come. Ex-NYPD cop, now Federal Task Force agent John Corey - together with his formidable and beautiful new partner, Kate Mayfield - will follow a trail of smoke and blood across the country. His quarry: a foe with the cunning of a lion and all the bloodlust of a man. To win a desperate game with no rules at all, Corey must invent a strategy that leaves no room for mistakes.

*Booktrack is an immersive format that pairs traditional audiobook narration to complementary music. The tempo and rhythm of the score are in perfect harmony with the action and characters throughout the audiobook. Gently playing in the background, the music never overpowers or distracts from the narration, so listeners can enjoy every minute. When you purchase this Booktrack edition, you receive the exact narration as the traditional audiobook available, with the addition of music throughout.

This is a redo of an old book! What is up with the music in the background while Scott is narrating?

Audiobook with music for a 4hr drive? YES!!

I've been reading lots of conspiracy theory/political suspense/mystery fiction books by different authors. After reading Night Fall by Nelson DeMille, I knew I had to read the John Corey series. But since my work requires that I travel from one city to another and monthly international flights, there really was no time for my kind of leisure (reading a good book with the smell of a freshly roasted coffee in the comforts of my home). Enter Audiobook! Good heavens I love how it's so convenient! And since I've been purchasing Booktrack edition audiobooks, every listening second made me feel like I was actually there!
I listened to The Lion's Game for the first time during my 4hr drive and oh man the suspenseful/investigative soundtrack along with the warm voice of the narrator kept me awake! Totally crushing on the smartass and humorous John Corey, I imagined I was Kate Mayfield lol. I liked the plot though some parts were a little slow.

But yeah, I TOTALLY LOVED THE MOVIE-LIKE EXPERIENCE. The music just made the experience even more compelling.
I'm so down for more of these! Two thumbs up for the production of this book.

Annoying music track. Buy the other version

Great book, and great narration. The sound track is really obnoxious, and really makes for a difficult listen. It seems so random and out of place. Scott Brick is a top notch narrator, one of the best in the business. There’s no need to undermine his work with a trash soundtrack (any sound track).

Very disappointed!

I have either read or listened to ALL of Nelson DeMille's novels but I can't even get beyond Chapter 2. There's background music throughout the book (I'm assuming)! I kept hoping it would stop but it's so distracting that I'm having trouble concentrating on the story to even tell if it's interesting. How can I listen and imagine the plot building up to whatever climax DeMille has offered with background music intensifying when the story is supposed to be intense? It reminds me a bit of movies with background music. It may work in movies but when listening to a book, I want to hear the words and inflection of the narrator and nothing else! .Next there'll be laugh tracks at humorous parts! It also makes me wonder if the book and the narrator aren't good enough to be enjoyable on their own without the music promoting the listener when the story is intense parts and and when it's not. It's not for me!!!

Why spoil such a great book?

Absolutely great book spoiled by senseless background music which wasn't even musical. This was so annoying and disturbing it took away from the greatness of the story. Who's idea was to do this? My mind, instead of enjoying the book, was totally distracted and I had to endure this nonsense.

Who’s idea was the music?

You ruined my experience with the music. I got all the way through the book but the music made me almost give up.

Booktrack Musical Sountrack wrecks great book!

The novel itself as well as Scott Brick's presentation of the book was great. The Booktrack musical soundtrack all but ruined the book for me. Never again!! There were a series of digital tunes that rotated through the book. Usually it was quiet enough that I could still concentrate on the reader, but once or twice it was overly loud. Even when soft it was distracting and annoying. The repetition of the audio was also making my stomach ill. One of the tunes had enough notes in common with the tune Axel F by Harold Faltermeyer - (the was the tune from the original Beverly Hills Cop) that what I essentially heard was Axel F. HORRIBLE!!! Never, never, never again will I purchase a book with a Booktrack soundtrack added!
