Publisher's Summary

Jack Tate is hopeless....

Everything he touches turns into a disaster, but he means well. His business is even less successful than his love life. His once-thriving coffee shop was on the brink of bankruptcy, but salvation could be right under his nose.

At the insistence of his loyal and underappreciated assistant, Emma, he sees that the last hope of saving his business could be the only customers who’ve not deserted him for the faceless coffee chains - the old folk.

To attract new customers, Jack and Emma set up the Isle of Man’s first dating and social club for the elderly - The Lonely Heart Attack Club. Eager to give his elderly congregation a sense of purpose, he sets them a challenge that may be one step too far: to become World Record holders.

They may be old but there is plenty of life left in them, and Jack soon realises that they're not just customers; they’ve become friends.

Could his unintended compassion to his wrinkly client base also be the catalyst for romance?

Uplifting, Touching & I Laughed Out Loud

I wish I could give this 10 stars. It sent a great message and I laughed out loud so many times I’m certain people thought I was daft. Can’t wait to read the next book! Thank you for the joy.

Made me laugh a lot.

I read non-fiction about 98% of the time, and was looking for something light and easy as a break, and this book definitely lived up to that. Pros: Not enough books involve a full cast of elderly characters so this one helped fill that void. And it was very funny. Cons: The narrator read too fast, but that’s easy to fix with Audible’s speed settings. And at times the book took an overly optimistic turn - it started out with a more realistic blend of events and personalities both good and bad, but kind of evolved in a “happily ever after” direction towards the second half. Still, quite enjoyable and worth the read.

warm, witty, wonderful

I love this author! The books have so many LOL moments which highlight the very human moments. The narrator's performance is perfect...I can't even imagine anyone else delivering the content so expertly.

Heart warming

Lovely easy listening story. I smiled, laughed and cried. Felt as if I was in the coffee shop chatting with friends. Loved the performance of the narrator. Will definitely buy the others in the series.

Dreadful rubbish

I really regret wasting a credit on this book. It’s anything but funny and the narrator is appalling. He can’t even get the punctuation right.

Made me LOL

I really enjoyed listening to this book, but was over all too quickly. I always listen to audible in the car and this book made me laugh out loud while sat in a traffic jam, a couple of other drivers looked at me quite oddly!!
The characters are great, the narrator really brought them to life!
The scene in the changing room was sooooooo funny!!
Enjoy the book, I’m now on the next one

A funny, warm-hearted story set on the Isle of Man

Jack finds himself middle-aged, overweight, and single after his last relationship failed. Despite all the suggestions from Emma, his supportive employee, Jack’s coffee shop is failing to attract much business, the bills are piling up, and he’s facing eviction. When Emma notices the number of vulnerable elderly people in the neighbourhood, she makes a win/win suggestion: the should cafe run a lonely hearts club for the elderly. Jack christens the venture ‘The Lonely Heart Attack Club’ and things start to turn around for everyone. This was written with a lot of sweet humour involving hilarious situations and banter: Emma has a soft spot for the good-naturedly clueless and shambolic Jack and it’s lovely to see their repartee. Audio narrator Chris Devon has a great regional UK accent that really suited the characters - great work!
