Publisher's Summary

Best-selling author and Bible teacher Sheila Walsh unpacks the deepest longings of a woman's heart and encourages listeners to discover God's relentless pursuit of them through those very longings.

We vowed we'd never repeat the same mistakes - yet we find ourselves right where we started. What is it that keeps drawing us back into the same old traps? The fact is our longings are built from the blueprint of our needs - for protection, for love, for God - and those needs aren't going anywhere.

Sheila speaks candidly about the trials in her life, including the heartache of her first marriage, and intertwines her story with the biblical saga of King David. As both Sheila's and David's stories make clear, some cravings are misguided, but they all stem from the same hunger - and they will haunt us until that hunger is properly satisfied. If we keep reaching out to the wrong people at the wrong times in our own lives, The Longing in Me will help us understand that our cravings are not the problem; it's where they lead us that makes all the difference.

Love Sheila

I love all of Sheila's books and so appreciate her heart. I just wish she would have read the book instead of someone else. The words carry so much more weight, depth and meaning when the author reads it with their transparent emotions and experiences reflecting in their voice. 💗

Siri is reading to me.

I feel like Siri is reading this to me. But the text of the book is awesome. I just can't listen to the computerized narrator. I wonder if it's a problem with the app. I see some others have had the same issue.

Sheila's honesty challenged the mask I hide behind

The narrator seemed robotic. Sheila's story was inspiring! She shared how deep pain led her to seek God and follow Him more closely.

Awful narrator

Absolutely the worst narrator. She sounds automated. There are much better narrators out there. I had to force myself not to be distracted by her droning voice.

The narrator made it hard to get into book

This book sounds interesting but I just couldn’t concentrate with the narrator of this book. I’ll try to find it in kindle so I can read it myself.

Very Deep

Love this book very much, it's very deep and very helpful. The only negative comment I have is that I didn't care for the narrator. I really don't want to be mean, but her voice lacked the emotional depth needed for this book. My husband even asked me if it was being read by a computer.

Narration let's it down

The content of this book is fantastic. The narration however is quite robotic. Worth persevering with though. for the message.

American narrator for British author.

The narrator is obviously American yet the author is very British/Scottish which grated on me the whole way through and made it hard for me to identify with the story.

Dull reader

Sorry, I couldn’t even listen to this book. The narrator sounded like she was about to slooowly fall asleep and fall over.
Such a shame.

Narration is awful Returned & bought the paperback

I downloaded this because I really like Sheila Walsh’s books, but I couldn’t get past the first couple of pages because the narration is so dreadful that I couldn’t imagine listening to it for 6 and a half hours. Why ruin such beautifully written books with poor narration? Returned it and purchased the paperback instead.

Great content, shame about the narration

Really enjoyed this book, found the content interesting, inspiring and encouraging. Sheila’s transparency and honesty shine through and the way she relates to the story of David is great. Found the narration robotic and slightly annoying as the voice gets into your head! But it didn’t put me off wanting eagerly to continue and finish the book. Would recommend to anyone who knows a bit about Sheilas story already and to anyone wanting, needing to understand themselves and the grace of God better.
