An old and much loved favorite
- By Jeanette Finan on 12-31-17
Publisher's Summary
The world's most beloved storyteller once again brings us the magical beauty of Yorkshire, the joys and sorrows of its inhabitants, and the richly rewarding experiences of a country veterinarian.
James and Helen now have two growing children, Jimmy and Rosie, who bring a new kind of adventure into James' life. The Herriots live at Skeldale House on the edge of the Yorkshire dales, whose peace, solitude, and feel of the wild make the countryside both thrilling and comforting at the same time.
It is the 1950s, a time of new advances in veterinary medicine, but the hard-working people of Yorkshire have not changed. That includes James' dear old friends Siegfried and Tristan - neither of whom has lost his great good humor. We also meet new friends, as James travels behind the Iron Curtain and learns about a world very different from his own. And always, his wonder, exhilaration, and affection glow in every word, whether he is talking about the glories of the moors and dales or the fascination of the people.

Just as good as the others
All of the Herriot books are great in audio -- very engaging stories that benefit much from the fine reader's rendering of the accents. This one is no exception. I was really sorry when I finished this series because I know there will be no more books.

No disappointment here!
I love James Herriot and Christopher Timothy is absolutely the best! I was leary of ordering another because the last one I ordered, All Things Bright and Beautiful was sub standard on recording, but this one was perfect. Very entertaining, a good listen for the entire family. Something for everybody! Love it.

Good Wholesome Reading.
Would you consider the audio edition of The Lord God Made Them All to be better than the print version?
Yes, I do. Christopher Timothy is the perfect narrator for James Herriot books. He does the accents very well and he has very good inflections when the exciting parts come. It is easy to visual James Herriot scrambling out of the way of charging livestock or dealing with ridiculous clients. He does a great job.
Who was your favorite character and why?
James Herriot, of course.
What does Christopher Timothy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
as above
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
I would stick to the title.
Any additional comments?
I have read the entire series of Herriot's books and re-read many of them. His books are good, wholesome reading of a time when life was more down to earth and quaint. I love his books. Comfort reading!

Another great novel from James Herriot!
This is a wonderful book full of wonderful stories and colorful characters. I like this book only slightly less than Herriot’s prevoius books but nevertheless, it’s a wonderful book and you can’t go wrong with it. The end of this one made me a little sad though. Siegfried is one of my favorite characters and I made the mistake of reading his Wikipedia page. Sometimes it’s better not knowing how your favorite characters end up in real life.
My other complaint has more to do with the intrusive music than it does with the book itself. They sometimes play the music over the narrator’s voice and it often doesn’t fit the mood of the story. I think the most annoying thing though is that they sometimes play the music in the middle of a story rather that at the beginning or end of a chapter and it’s confusing. I really wish they had left the music out altogether.

Just Wonderful
I grew up reading the Herriot books again and again. I never tired of the stories of the humans and animals the doctor met along the way, whether they made me laugh or cry. And the audiobook doesn't disappoint!
Christopher Timothy's narration is just plain amazing. The characters come to life and have made me enjoy the books in a whole new way. I've listened to all four and am heading on to the last one now. But I'm sure I'll be listening again.
Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to these wonderful stories!
