Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

Very Unbeleiveable
Story was long and so far fetched it reminded me of a fantasy novel. I love the 7 sisters series which is why I chose this book, big mistake, no were near the writing or story telling.
I don't need the story to be particularly relatable, but this was to out there.
Very disappointed.

Bit too much going on.
First let me say the author did a great job of working the separate stories that will slowly roll into one. However a bit too slowly. By the time I started to care for a character or couple something would go very wrong so the whole plot became too much and would just drag on till the end. Camilla Rockley did a wonderful job with the narration.

Get this Book Right This Minute!
What an entertaining listen! Everything I could hope for in a book: romance, suspense, royalty, great characterizations, detailed settings, excellent narration, and skilled writing. Lucinda Riley really knows how to develop a story and tie multiple threads together. AIthough I love all of Lucinda Riley's books, I think this is my favorite. This is a great long saga of a book, which I prefer, and it grabbed my attention from the very beginning and never let it go.
My only criticism is that there is always a cup of tea being made. Seriously, I know this is England, but there is A LOT of tea mentioned. Prepare to buy some PG Tips or Harney and Sons to accompany your listening experience.

Wonderful fun listen!
If you like a book full of intrigue, interesting characters and good narration, this one’s for you. I couldn’t put it down. Full of intrigue. Having seen a number of documentaries about the British monarchy, I also believe it’s plausible. Just when I thought I knew what was going to happen, I was surprised. Romance without being tawdry added sparkle to its enthralling plot. Great ending, too. Riley is a must follow for her inventive fiction.

UN-BELIEVABLE
This had got to be one of the worst books I ever bought... I must have been completely insane buying it. I can only imagine I did it to complete a 2 for 1 deal.
It was the most predicable tosh, What twists and turns???? I mean really?? the other reviewers who rated this were obviously Mills and Boon fanatics Barbara Cartland at her very very worst.
The only thing that amused me was the royal relationships and MI5......... their pathetic belief that the royals had to be protected from scandal at any cost..... WHY??? .So what's changed eh??
Why didn't I ask for a refund? Didn't want to push my luck and do it too often, and to my shame I listened to it all..
I hope the narrator was well paid it must have been dreadful having to try and make it sound as though she actually gave a stuff..
Please don't waste your money or even worse a credit..it really is complete tripe

A light read which I found moderately entertaining after recent substantial and very good books read. Started well but ended totally implausibly. Felt it could have ended earlier in several places. Would not recommend to anyone wanting a book with substance but did make me laugh at some of its more ridiculous moments.

Intriguing but left me feeling uncomfortable.
I normally love reading Lucinda Riley’s novels but this departure from her usual genre of historical fiction into thriller mode and the way it evolved and ended didn’t sit well with me.
Although this story was interesting in a way what I like about Lucinda’s other story writing is learning about important historical events and other cultures. This one featured a lot of drinking in English pubs, drinking cups of tea, too many people being killed and ultimately wasn’t very believable.

Not impressed with this one
Narration was great but I found it frustrating and annoying to be honest. I have loved Lucindas other books but this one left me quite disappointed. Characters falling in love in 5 minutes, convoluted and confusing storylines were too messy, half the characters killed off and the ending quite unbelievable. Im surprised so many people liked it.

Very enjoyable
Intriguing story with lots of twists and turns. Refreshing different plot. The narrator's performance was very good.

A must read
Couldn’t stop listening, another engaging romantic delight by Lucinda Riley. Now for the next novel, I can’t get enough.
