Publisher's Summary

She fears the dark. He rules it.

Her dresses are too tight, her heels too tall. She laughs too loudly, eats without decorum, and mixes up most sayings in the book. Little do most know it’s just a sparkly disguise, there to hide one panic attack at a time.

Nobody can crack Gianna’s facade...no one anyway, until he comes along.

Most see a paragon of morality; a special agent upholding the law. In the New York underworld, others know him as a hustler, a killer; his nature as cold as the heart of ice in his chest. Christian Allister has always followed the life plan he’d envisioned in his youth, beneath the harsh lights of a frigid, damp cell. With a proclivity for order and the number three, he’s never been tempted to veer off course. But, perhaps, one should never say never....

One winter night and their lives intertwine. She hates him - his stone-cold demeanor, his arrogance and too-perceptive eye - but, over the years, even as their games consist of insulting each other’s looks and intelligence, she begins to live to play with him.

Nowhere in Christian’s plans had he ever prepared for Gianna. She’s chaos embodied, not his type, and married, but none of that can stop his eyes from following her wherever she goes.

All along, she doesn’t even know that she’s his - his frustration, his fascination. His maddest obsession.

Great book however

The male narrator did not give what needed to be given, sadly
Vanessa did great though

The male narrator really ruins the experience.

The male narrator was so bad I had to turn down the volume when he spoke just to make it less irritating. Even the quality of his microphone was terrible. I do not understand how sound quality like that passed in the audiobook editing.

amazing story bad narrator

I love the made series but the male narrator really isn’t it. Low quality mic, bad expressions through reading, the conversations between the two wasn’t flowing. It was unbearable. real disappointed tbh

I wanted to love it, but didn’t.

I was obsessed with the first book and I just knew this was going to be EVERYTHING! Unfortunately the constant flashbacks ruined the story for me. I plan to listen to the next book because I refuse to let this series be ruined by one book. Fingers crossed!! The narrators were amazing.

Written with style

This author has shown a unique style for telling very grown up stories. She’s demonstrated very human feelings and scenarios that show why we all search for love. It may not be perfectly packed and Hallmark like, but it’s developed and doesn’t shy away from the reality of being human.

A lot of arguing.

I enjoyed the book and loved the female lead. I never really fell for the male lead, Christian. I wasn't a fan of his character or his narrator. This is super uncommon for me. I will wait for the next book in the series to release on Audible instead of running to KU to get it.

Narrator

The male narrator was so bad. I could even finish story. I hope they re-do this sometime soon.

Book great...male narration not so much

I had heard rave reviews about the book. I was very excited to listen to it as I have more time for audiobooks than actually reading books. The first book lived up to the hype. This one though....... I hate leaving "iffy" reviews, but this is one I wished I had just read the book instead. The male narration was monotone and almost robotic and lacked all emotion. The female was great though. I had never heard any of his other work before this and he may be great in other things but this one made it hard to listen to. If the male narration had been better I would've given it a 5 star review. I would definitely recommend this one being on someone's read the book list and not worry about the audio book.

Loved it->almost DNFd->LOVED IT!!

The only thing I hate more than a weak heroine is one who is "strong" right up until the H gives them an O, at which time they lose all self will and self control. I thought this was heading that way and it kind of does BUT she walks when she needs to and H is just ...peeeerfect

This one seemed promising right up until H gave her some D. She came off strong willed and like someone who wouldn't roll over and take it. She immediately started to become weak willed the instant she has sex with the H. After a promising start, I nearly DNFd it in the latter stretch, but I'm glad I didn't. While she does kind of start to become weak and it looks like it's gonna be one of those reluctant H weak clingy h doing the chasing...it doesn't.

So good!

Loved this! It's a frustrating opposites attract, frustrating for them. Hot, sassy, and full of layers.

Not my favourite!

Although Christian is hot and the chemistry sizzles between him and Giana, the narration to me was off. He sounded like a tin man until he spoke Russian.

Giana on the other hand just couldn't make up her mind and her could I, couldn't I just drove me insane!

The ending, however, was good and I did love the way how protective he was of her. so in all, there were great points but the narration and indecisiveness blew it for me.

I'm now a blue fan

Who knew I'd fall in love with a Russian, OCD, mafia lord.

These unstable, brooding men that Danielle writes just hit a new level and I'm a sucker for them.

Gianna was a character that was intriguing from the start. She had so much going on in her life and I needed to know more. I never expected her to end up with someone like Christian. At. All. They are completely different and after all the men who proposed to her, he did not fit on that scale. Opposites attract though and that's exactly what Danielle did.

Book 1 had a lot of Italian family drama, however, Maddest Oblivion focuses more on Gianna and her issues with herself, as well as Christian and his own demons. This is very much focused on the individual characters which were unsettling at times but so captivating. Similar to a murder mystery.

Great read 4/5⭐️

The only issue I had was with the male narrater. His voice just did not suit the character was put me off slightly. The book itself was fantastic and one I would definitely recommend

I'm obsessed Malishka

Christian caught my eye since the beginning when he was introduced in the Sweetest oblivion there was something about him that made me want to know more about his character and oh boy
He was EVERYTHING.

He is a cold and meticulous man with low end of the OCD spectrum. He is very possessive and commanding
Never kiss and has a massive obsession over Gianna.

She is sweet, funny with dark past that has made her take very bad decisions. She doesn't believe in love, for her it is a waste of time.

Their love story was so amazing. I loved how it started with all the banter and funny comebacks, to them developing into something more physical, to then falling in love with each other.

Best book in the series

Love love love Gianna and Christian. Move over Nico there’s a new psycho In town and he is *chefs kiss*
Have to say that I did not like these two characters in the first book and wasn’t that keen on diving into their story but oh my gosh I am so glad I did. Love them both.
Narrators did a top job with this book too.

Instant favorite!

The Maddest Obsession by Danielle Lori is a unique Enemies to Lovers Mafia with lots of steam and banter.

I adore Christian and Giana and am addicted to their story, I've listened to this book three three times and it only gets better!

Both narrators did an incredible job bringing Christian & Giana to life. The Maddest Obsession is one of my favorite audiobooks this year.
