Publisher's Summary

She fears the dark. He rules it.

Her dresses are too tight, her heels too tall. She laughs too loudly, eats without decorum, and mixes up most sayings in the book. Little do most know it’s just a sparkly disguise, there to hide one panic attack at a time.

Nobody can crack Gianna’s facade...no one anyway, until he comes along.

Most see a paragon of morality; a special agent upholding the law. In the New York underworld, others know him as a hustler, a killer; his nature as cold as the heart of ice in his chest. Christian Allister has always followed the life plan he’d envisioned in his youth, beneath the harsh lights of a frigid, damp cell. With a proclivity for order and the number three, he’s never been tempted to veer off course. But, perhaps, one should never say never....

One winter night and their lives intertwine. She hates him - his stone-cold demeanor, his arrogance and too-perceptive eye - but, over the years, even as their games consist of insulting each other’s looks and intelligence, she begins to live to play with him.

Nowhere in Christian’s plans had he ever prepared for Gianna. She’s chaos embodied, not his type, and married, but none of that can stop his eyes from following her wherever she goes.

All along, she doesn’t even know that she’s his - his frustration, his fascination. His maddest obsession.

Great book however

The male narrator did not give what needed to be given, sadly
Vanessa did great though

The male narrator really ruins the experience.

The male narrator was so bad I had to turn down the volume when he spoke just to make it less irritating. Even the quality of his microphone was terrible. I do not understand how sound quality like that passed in the audiobook editing.

amazing story bad narrator

I love the made series but the male narrator really isn’t it. Low quality mic, bad expressions through reading, the conversations between the two wasn’t flowing. It was unbearable. real disappointed tbh

Read the book, skip the audiobook

The audio quality for the guy is so bad, it sounds like he’s trying to use a voice modifier to make his voice deep. If a deep voice was the goal I’m sure there are tons of people.

The girls audio was fine, I wish it was someone with a Chicago or New York accent because Gianna is from both places.

I wanted to love it, but didn’t.

I was obsessed with the first book and I just knew this was going to be EVERYTHING! Unfortunately the constant flashbacks ruined the story for me. I plan to listen to the next book because I refuse to let this series be ruined by one book. Fingers crossed!! The narrators were amazing.

Loved

I never write reviews but I had to for this one. I think Christian might be my favorite male love interest in any romance novel I have read. Worth a listen

Fantastic!

Great book! Loved the story. Ignore the reviews about the reader as he is exactly how this character would have spoken.

I CAN'T GIVE THIS ENOUGH STARS!!! I'm obsessed...

IGNORE THE BAD REVIEWS. The male narrator does fan-freaking-tastic job of portraying the man's UNIQUE OCDish personality. Seriously, if you think of him like that from the beginning like the book makes apparent from the first chapter, you will become obsessed with this book too and very much enjoy the audio. Read this book. Just do it. I need everyone to read this because it's one of the best books I've ever read and I'm obsessed lol- pun intended. Spice is freaking outstanding, the plot is so JUST SO GOOD, character developement and chemistry throughout is amazing!!!!!!! I wish there was more of this book. also- no I was not paid to write this, nor do I know this author or anyone she knows for that matter, this book is just golden.

Male voice was HORRIBLE!

The story was great! It was a great second book to the series especially because we get to still see glimpses of characters from the first book. As far as the voice actors they used, the male voice was so horrible it almost ruined the book for me. Not to mention the recording quality, I read in other reviews about complaints for this and it is 100% true. How that was allowed in audible I don’t know but it was nails on a chalkboard bad.

Perfect

The woman who narrates this audiobook did such a wonderful job. Her voice is perfect for it and I swear you feel all her emotions.

Not my favourite!

Although Christian is hot and the chemistry sizzles between him and Giana, the narration to me was off. He sounded like a tin man until he spoke Russian.

Giana on the other hand just couldn't make up her mind and her could I, couldn't I just drove me insane!

The ending, however, was good and I did love the way how protective he was of her. so in all, there were great points but the narration and indecisiveness blew it for me.

I'm now a blue fan

Who knew I'd fall in love with a Russian, OCD, mafia lord.

These unstable, brooding men that Danielle writes just hit a new level and I'm a sucker for them.

Gianna was a character that was intriguing from the start. She had so much going on in her life and I needed to know more. I never expected her to end up with someone like Christian. At. All. They are completely different and after all the men who proposed to her, he did not fit on that scale. Opposites attract though and that's exactly what Danielle did.

Book 1 had a lot of Italian family drama, however, Maddest Oblivion focuses more on Gianna and her issues with herself, as well as Christian and his own demons. This is very much focused on the individual characters which were unsettling at times but so captivating. Similar to a murder mystery.

The only issue I had was with the male narrater. His voice just did not suit the character was put me off slightly. The book itself was fantastic and one I would definitely recommend

I'm obsessed Malishka

Christian caught my eye since the beginning when he was introduced in the Sweetest oblivion there was something about him that made me want to know more about his character and oh boy
He was EVERYTHING.

He is a cold and meticulous man with low end of the OCD spectrum. He is very possessive and commanding
Never kiss and has a massive obsession over Gianna.

She is sweet, funny with dark past that has made her take very bad decisions. She doesn't believe in love, for her it is a waste of time.

Their love story was so amazing. I loved how it started with all the banter and funny comebacks, to them developing into something more physical, to then falling in love with each other.

This was amazing

Honestly I was hesitant to listen to this one. I really enjoyed the first book but I didn't especially like these characters in it.

Imagine my surprise when this story was even better than the first. My only complaint was that I didn't especially like the male narrator's impression of Christian though when he spoke Russian he was sexy as hell!

Disappointing

I loved book 1 in this series so I had high expectations for book 2. I was disappointed as I just didn't like the male main character. I found it hard to be invested in the relationship because if this. The female narrator was great but the male narrator was just terrible! His voice was a big turn off which might explain why I didn't like the character. Audio quality was also poor.

Best book in the series

Love love love Gianna and Christian. Move over Nico there’s a new psycho In town and he is *chefs kiss*
Have to say that I did not like these two characters in the first book and wasn’t that keen on diving into their story but oh my gosh I am so glad I did. Love them both.
Narrators did a top job with this book too.

Instant favorite!

The Maddest Obsession by Danielle Lori is a unique Enemies to Lovers Mafia with lots of steam and banter.

I adore Christian and Giana and am addicted to their story, I've listened to this book three three times and it only gets better!

Both narrators did an incredible job bringing Christian & Giana to life. The Maddest Obsession is one of my favorite audiobooks this year.
