Publisher's Summary

A #1 Washington Post and Amazon Charts bestseller.

New York Times bestselling author Carolyn Brown brings together two wounded hearts in a Texas romance of second chances and twice-in-a-lifetime true love.

Inheriting the Magnolia Inn, a Victorian home nestled in the East Texas pines, is a fantasy come true for Jolene Broussard. After living with the guilt of failing to rescue her self-destructive mother, Jolene knows her aunt and uncle’s B&B is the perfect jump start for a new life and a comforting place to call home. There’s just one hitch: stubborn and moody carpenter Tucker Malone. He’s got a half interest in the Magnolia Inn, and he’s planting his dusty cowboy boots squarely in the middle of her dream.

Ever since his wife’s death, Tucker’s own guilt and demons have left him as guarded as Jolene. The last thing he expects is for his new partner to stir something inside him he thought was gone forever. And as wary as Jolene is, she may have found a kindred spirit - someone she can help, and someone she can hold on to.

Restoring the Magnolia Inn is the first step toward restoring their hearts. Will they be able to let go of the past and trust each other to do it together?

Critic Reviews

“Brown tugs hard at the heartstrings with an emotional contemporary about a grieving widower and a vulnerable bartender…The author does a first-rate job of depicting the devastating stages of grief, provides a simple but appealing plot with a sympathetic hero and heroine and a cast of lovable supporting characters, and wraps it all up with a happily ever after to cheer for.” (Publishers Weekly)

The Magnolia Inn

As always Carolyn Brown, The Magnolia Inn was beautifully written. The girls made me laugh and reminded me a lot of kin especially with the accents!

Ridiculous, Predictable, and Boring

My title sums it up. It’s hard to expound on it. Not worth anyone’s time. Worst audio book I’ve listened to in decades.

HEARTWARMING STORY

I love Carolyn Brown and this book is no exception.

A full cast of characters that make this story more than the coming together of the protagonists.

Two people that have had their share of grief come together to begin anew.

They are supposed to be only business partners, but some helpful souls try to steer them together. And they do!

There are hurdles to overcome, and old wounds that need to heal, but the journey was worth it.

This story is beautifully written, and I highly recommend it.

Hokey and predictable ...

This is after all, a romance novel so I wasn’t expecting Grapes of Wrath ... I was expecting something fresh with a twist but it’s not happening with this book.

Beautiful story

With some bitter/more realistic undertones, Carolyn manages to deliver a love story while also digging into past heartache and heart break. I cried several times during this audio book, some sad tears and some happy. I think this was my favorite book of hers yet.

A cute romance

This romance follows Jolene and Tucker as they co-own the Magnolia Inn. They fix it up while dealing with personal issues that bring them closer together.

This was a cute story, but not one I especially loved. Tucker was dealing with his wife's death and had turned to alcohol, while Jolene deals with living up to how her family used to run the inn. The voices the narrator used for each character were interesting, but sometimes over the top. Plus, I didn't connect with Tucker continually hearing his wife's voice. I know it was supposed to be his thoughts of letting her go, but it just seemed unnecessary and obnoxious.

Jolene was feisty, but that felt like that was it. We didn't get much of her life other than her mother dying and fleeting moments of her childhood at the inn. I did enjoy the tension between Jolene and Tucker, especially when it centered around his alcoholism. Once they finally got together it was cute, but it was sadly only the last few chapters.

Sweet Magnolias meets Hallmark

Wonderful story that grabs you immediately. Would wash away my stress as I listened on my way home from work. The narrator with all her accents and voices made it so enjoyable.

Hallmark Movie

I read another book by this author so bought this thinking it would be like the other. So wrong….this is a Hallmark movie. So many southern stereotypes. So many terrible southern accents. This story could have been told in 2 hours. I never not finish a book, but I had to give up and stop four hours before the end.

Wow

I loved this book. I haven’t read a novel for around 20 + years.
I’m more of non fiction fan.
Looking forward to the next novel
