Poor narration

The story is OK, although not completely accurate for the period. A very slow start with too much description in the middle of an abduction. But the narration was too slow, with little attempt to emphasise the (supposedly) exciting interchanges making most of it sound boring. Also, the narrator doesn't always pause between sentences or when the subject changes.
