I love Sam and Remy Fargo and the adventures they have. There is nothing serious or mind provoking about these books, but rather they are pure entertainment. The Fargos always keep us entertained with their travels and their relationship is something we would all like ... fun, fun, fun, along with their standard of living and adventures. Yes, pure entertainment but an enjoyable read.

Not a mystery/thriller as categorized
STORY (fiction) - This book was okay, but I never felt compelled to continue listening. I enjoyed the bits of Mayan history and the exploration/excavation portions. Beyond that, the books is about a husband and wife who are trying to keep Mayan artifacts from falling into the wrong hands. There are some scenes that could possibly qualify to some listeners as exciting, but I would definitely not say there is anything mysterious or thrilling about this book.
PERFORMANCE - Scott Brick is awesome as always.
OVERALL - No sex or cursing, with some mild violence. This is Book 5 in the series, but the story stands alone. This is the first Fargo Adventure I've listened to and it would be my last, however I have another one already sitting in my library.

Another Fargo Adventure
I really like these Fargo stories by Clive Cussler and Thomas Perry, and I always look forward to the next one. They're my guilty pleasure. I compare them to watching a film like National Treasure - you just switch off, relax, and enjoy the show. It can be a bit cheesy at times, but I actually like that about these books - the relationship between Sam and Remi. All in all, these are fun adventures and I always look forward to the next one. Keep 'em coming! Oh, and Scott Brick does a good job at narration. I actually seek out Scott’s other work now too.

Another good read from Cussler
Would you consider the audio edition of The Mayan Secrets to be better than the print version?
The storyline is not excessively complicated or containing too many characters, therefore the audio version is easy to follow and enjoy. I have not read the print version but would anticipate it as equally compelling and easy read.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Selma is such a cool, unflappable person, she rarely expresses surprise or excitement and continually predicts what it needed.
Which character – as performed by Scott Brick – was your favourite?
Selma
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I enjoyed the storyline, history and geographical travels, it left a feel good factor
Any additional comments?
This is a good read, Fast paced with an interesting historical connection. It takes the reader across quite a bit of the globe and reflects the reality of some lesser travelled countries and the problems their citizens face. The partnership of the Fargo's with a specialist is becoming a trend but one which adds credibility to the story, The specialist in this one and some of the other characters they meet along their journey all help to make this worth reading.
