Story
Bittersweetness is a tendency to states of longing, poignancy, and sorrow; an acute awareness of passing time; and a curiously piercing joy at the beauty of the world. It recognizes that light and dark, birth and death - bitter and sweet - are forever paired. Susan Cain employs the same mix of research, storytelling, and memoir she used in Quiet to explore why we experience sorrow and longing, and how embracing the bittersweetness at the heart of life is the true path to creativity, connection, and transcendence.

Life changing book for caretaker types

Publisher's Summary
The only thing predictable about menopause is its unpredictability. Factor in widespread misinformation, a lack of research, and the culture of shame around women's bodies, and it's no wonder women are unsure what to expect during the menopause transition and beyond.
Menopause is not a disease - it's a planned change, like puberty. And just like puberty, we should be educated on what's to come years in advance, rather than the current practice of leaving people on their own with bothersome symptoms and too much conflicting information. Knowing what is happening, why, and what to do about it is both empowering and reassuring.
Frank and funny, Dr. Jen Gunter debunks misogynistic attitudes and challenges the over-mystification of menopause to reveal everything you really need to know about: perimenopause, hot flashes, sleep disruption, sex and libido, depression and mood changes, skin and hair issues, outdated therapies, breast health, weight and muscle mass, health maintenance screening, and much more.
Filled with practical, reassuring information, this essential guide will revolutionize how women experience menopause - including how their lives can be even better for it!

AMAZING
This book is excellent, has correct medical facts and information as well as other sources of treatment for the menopausal transition. I am an OBGYN PA and if I had as many hours to talk to patients about menopause this is what I would want to say. Her book the Vagina Bible is also excellent for all women. Read this book!!

What a relief!
Thank you, Dr. Gunter, for this comprehensively informative and understandable guide. I felt a huge sense of relief with each chapter—relief from feeling recognized and acknowledged and having things explained in a comforting and easy to understand manner.
Dr. Gunter’s perspective puts facts at the forefront—plus, she makes you feel completely empowered with knowing what’s going on in your mind and body. This isn’t scary; in fact, it is enlightening.
Menopausal women aren’t facing an end. We are always evolving! Dr. Gunter proves that from start to finish.

Informative
Valuable sober information. Like the feminist perspective and the check of the reverse of whether treatments would be acceptable for men. In some places I thought Dr Jen was a little too aceptable for me on traditional treatments but understood the scientific lens. I wish there was more information of menopause from the African continent - the only continent not mentioned as far as I can remember in this book. Is there something more we can learn from indigenous people on menopause?
