Publisher's Summary

A series of suspicious deaths in a retirement home draws Nameless into the confidence of a terrified former resident - and into the dark heart of a shocking conspiracy. In part five of the Nameless series, it’s time to hunt.

Oakshore Park is Michigan’s most exclusive assisted-living community. Presided over by two killer angels of mercy, it’s also THE go-to facility in assisted dying. For a cut, they make impatient heirs happy. Nameless must concoct a scheme just as cunning. But righteous retribution stirs disquiet in the avenger as light starts to shine on the black hole of his past. Should he welcome it or keep running?

From number one New York Times best-selling author Dean Koontz comes The Mercy of Snakes, part of Nameless, a riveting collection of short stories about a vigilante nomad, stripped of his memories and commissioned to kill. Follow him in each story, which can be listened to in a single sitting.

it was good, not great.

possibly the weakest of the nameless series to this point, but still entertaining. Dean Koontz is a terrific writer, and I love diving deep into his novels. but I suspect Amazon asked him to write a series of short stories for their original collection and he penned them out in no time flat. that being said, these stories are perfect for the Koontz fan who does not want to be tied down for 10 or 12 hours of a normal audiobook.

Money is more important than life in the nursing home. Nameless comes to settle the score.
Great story! Good narration too!

Not 1 if the best.

Not 1 if the best. Fell asleep 3 times while listening. So many better. Short stories are not my favorites.

Honor Between Thieves

Something is going on at the assisted living facility and Nameless is looking into it. The owner and his head nurse is helping older healthy patients to an early demise it seems. Justice is served. Great series.

Not as good as the first ones

As these stories are going along, I'm liking them less. I enjoyed it more when the "monsters" were killed in the same way they did the killing and there were intricate things setup to accomplish this. Now it seems the bad people are killing the bad people. One left in the series. I'll see how that goes.

Karma will get you every time. I don't understand how cruel and selfish some people are.

Engrossing and Unique

Title: The Mercy of Snakes
Author: Dean Koontz
Format: Audio
Narrator: Edoardo Ballerini
Genre: suspense, thriller, novella, vigilante justice, amnesia
Standalone: Yes
Part of a Series: Book 5 of the Nameless series
POV: Mostly Namesless
Steam Level: some but it’s not sexy
5/5

The Mercy of Snakes is the fifth book in the Nameless series. Nameless's mission this time is to stop a doctor who has created a side hustle of killing off his patients and making it look like natural causes. I love how each book is different but builds just a little on the memories Nameless is starting to remember. I'm interested in seeing if we find out more or if Nameless will have the walls of his mind strengthened, closing out the memories. As always, The Mercy of Snakes was engrossing and the climatic scene unique.

A story you've heard before with a new ending

Another home run for Nameless. I'm worried for him in this last episode of the series, but I'm hopeful that he will end up with a positive ending. Even if it's an Odd Thomas one. I love this series and would love to see a full novel with all the trimming some day.

Thanks Dean for another hour well spent.
