Publisher's Summary
Bloomsbury presents The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon, read by Alana Kerr Collins.
By the Sunday Times and New York Times best-selling author of The Priory of the Orange Tree.
A fugitive who will not be silenced.
It is a dark time for clairvoyants. Scion is in league with the Rephaim, an extraordinarily powerful, otherworldly race that intends to make humans its slaves.
In an unprecedented feat of bravery, Paige Mahoney has succeeded in leading a mass break-out from the brutal camp, Sheol I, where she and other clairvoyants were systematically imprisoned.
Paige is desperate to reach the safety of the London underworld, but the ruthless leader of the Rephaim, Nashira Sargas, is not likely to let her escape so easily....
Critic Reviews
"Hugely imaginative." (Independent on Sunday)
"A trailblazer for young talent.... The way Shannon’s characters shift, backstab and fall are as fascinating as the twists and turns of the plot." (Independent)
"Goes hell-for-leather, all poltergeists and grisly murders and pitched battles in the catacombs of Camden." (Sunday Times)

Gripping right to the end!
Wow, this definitely deserves the 5 stars.
I got through the preceding audiobook in this series (The Bone Season), very quickly - that was outstanding and I didn’t expect the sequel to be as good, but I was wrong. The story continues where the previous book left off and the insight into Paige deepens as you get a sense of her extraordinary stamina and resilience.
Again, I have been touched by the strength of this female protagonist, not characterised with a sexualised male gaze in mind. Her appearance is only usually written about when she’s injured, or where absolutely necessary, she is usually described in other ways entirely. She is monumental, which is so cool.
The narrator is also very well suited to this author, she speaks with the right pace and brings the book to life vividly.
Looking forward to the next one! (But worried about what I will do with myself when I’ve got through them all).

Loving this series!
An original concept. Samantha Shannon had written it beautifully and Alana Kerr Collins is perfectly cast as narrator.
