Publisher's Summary

If you suffer from intense emotions, you are not alone. Millions of Americans are diagnosed with emotion regulation disorders, such as borderline personality disorder (BPD) and other comorbid conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and severe depression. Developed by Marsha Linehan, DBT is a clinically proven, evidence-based treatment for intense emotions that can help you start feeling better right away. This is the first consumer-friendly book to offer Linehan's new mindfulness skills to help you take control of your emotions, once and for all.

In this book, you'll learn seven powerful skills that highlight the unique connection between mindfulness and emotion regulation. Each skill is designed to help you find focus in the present moment, reduce impulsive behavior, and increase a sense of connection to your true self, even during times of extreme stress or difficulty.

You can feel calmer, more grounded, and centered. If you're ready, the mindfulness practices in this book will help you move away from a chaotic, emotion-driven life and cultivate a focused, intentional one.

Impossible to listen to

This is THE worst audio book ever... not because of the content, since I was unable to listen long enough to hear any content. Every single sentence ends with a reference citation. I found it absolutely impossible to follow a single thread of thought due to the myriad interruptions, including name and date. I am so disappointed as this is a book I really wanted to listen to. Frankly, it could GIVE you overwhelming emotions, not help to overcome them!! They absolutely RUINED this book in my opinion.

WORTHLESS: Can not access bonus material

In the begining there is a website that they give really good details on how to use, however that website either does not exist or is impossible to find. why do they not have the link written down so you can click on it or spelled out so you can type it. in addition the accompanying pdf does not work. it also does not exist. this makes book which uses a lot of pictures and graphs and charts WORTHLESS

Too much citing

The book was informational but for each time something was cited I felt I should have been reading those books.

omg put references in one chapter and get on with

omg I'm suffering emotional dysregulation your book is driving me crazy. the references are making me angrier. I know what your saying is right but it's hard to concentrate with constant references every few seconds. I can't read this book anymore. I hate how you've done this book.

Great book for supporting ongoing DBT practise.

Loads of stories that moved me and I found the narration easy to listen to.
