Publisher's Summary

Since the death of his twin brother, Oliver’s caught between pleasing his fans and finding himself. Emery finds him first.

Emery has never felt more alone. Raising her daughter is both her pleasure and her pain as she struggles to hold on to her job as a bartender and keep a roof over their heads. With no one to help them - no support system - any unexpected expense or late bill could turn their whole world upside down.

Reeling from the death of his twin brother and bandmate, rock star Oliver Smith is trying to drink his problems away. Apparently he isn’t very good at it; they follow him wherever he goes. Also in hot pursuit are the paparazzi, who catch Oliver at his lowest low.

He could have walked into any bar in California, but he walked into hers. Emery helps Oliver lose the crowd, and they find themselves alone: two people whose paths are marked with loss and pain. However, they hold an unshakable hope for healing. They find solace together, but can their love withstand the world?

Critic Reviews

“Cherry dazzles with this deeply felt friends-to-lovers contemporary...with its uncommon depth, Cherry’s story will elicit tears in some places, laughter in others. A stellar cast…Readers will be hooked.” (Publishers Weekly, starred review)

A fantastic story of 2 broken people finding love

If you have a chance you should pick up this book, Brittainy C Cherry is one of those authors you can count on to write a fantastic story and this one doesn’t disappoint!

Couldn’t finish.

The male narration was suuuuper hard to listen to. It sounded like someone reading, or maybe just trying way too hard to sound clear? I don’t know. The woman did great. I felt the emotion and felt like she was a friend.

I loved this book…

It was far from predictable and had some very relatable and likable characters.

The narration was excellent Ann the story was heartwarming, despite bringing me to tears on a couple of occasions.

Excellent Listen

Love the story and love the narrators. Hopefully we will see more of them in this genre. I think this is one of Britainy Cherry's best books so far. This book was much more relatable than some of the books that are out there right now. Can't wait to see what she writes next.

Mixtape is a must!

The amazing performances of the two narrators enhanced Brittainy Cherry' a touching love story and delivered the main characters perspectives beautifully! I chose the immersed reading option for this title and absolutely loved it!

Great listen!

This was an impulse buy for me by an author I hadn't read or listened to before. I really enjoyed the story. Especially the analogy of everybody's life having its own mixed tape. The narrators were great. I appreciate their being two different voices for two different genders.

Kelly, it’s not “all Oliver”

Had to stop and write this review in the middle of listening. Highlight of my week was the “hero’s woman” (Kelly) having a say, a lovely say, into what the protagonist got. It screamed “WOMEN UNITE”!!!! Love.

Cute story

I enjoyed the storyline of this book very much, it envoked many emotions.
What I didn't care for was the male narration, he seemed monotoned most of the time.

🎧 Oliver and Emory 🎧

Couldn't finish. So much potential for a gripping, heart-wrenching story, but the stilted, repetitive language severed the emotional connection I wanted to make with the characters.
The female narrator was fine and the male narrator's only saving grace was when he delivered dialogue for male characters. His female characters and the basic narrative were all delivered in the same unevenly-spaced monotone.

Unexpected (in a good way)

I thought this book was going to be a whole lotta fluff. Don't get me wrong I don't mind the occasional light hearted story.
This book was fantastic and way better than I expected. The story has a layer of depth that gets you invested in whats happening. I pretty much binged this one in 24 hours...
Narration is excellent as well.
I really enjoyed this one, hope you enjoy it too.
