Publisher's Summary

A gripping and emotional novel that will leave you wondering about the neighbors next door...

On a cold January night, Sharon Lemke heads outside to see a lunar eclipse when she notices something odd at the house behind her backyard. Through her neighbor's kitchen window, she sees what appears to be a little girl washing dishes late at night. But the Fleming family doesn't have a child that age, and even if they did, why would she be doing housework at this late hour?

It would be easy for Sharon to just let this go, but when 18-year-old Niki, a former foster child, comes to live with Sharon, she notices suspicious activity at the Flemings' house as well. When calling social services doesn't result in swift action, the two decide to investigate on their own.

Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this book

The narrator was wonderful, I cared deeply about the characters from the very beginning of the book and the story held my interest throughout.
What more could you ask for? I listen to 3-4 books a week and was very glad to have found one that kept my interest all the way through. I find I get bored or just don’t care about so many of the characters in the books I have been listening to lately. This was a refreshing change of pace.

The Moonlight Child

Wow, now this was a story. Heartbreaking and beautifully told. You cannot help but be swept up in this story. I was pulled in immediately, listening in one day! I loved the storyline, characters and sheer heart in this story. You will have your heartstrings tugged from start to finish. I smiled, cried and was moved beyond measure. This book showcases the evil sides of humans, but also the goodness and pureness of true acceptance and unwavering love. A must listen!!!! I highly recommend it for lovers of stories with great depth, richly fleshed out characters and a story you cannot stop listening to!!!

Wow!

I usually don't like books like this but this book was solo good! It made me mad, cry and happy. I have NEVER had a book do that for me, and the narrator was absolutely awesome! What a great read!

Felt Like a Fairy Tale And Slightly Amateur

NO SPOILERS!

This book kept me listening and had its moments but overall it was very predictable and unrealistic. It was kind like a fairy tale and very safe. I would have liked more of a conclusion of all the characters in the end. I think it left me wanting to know more.

The narrator was ok although my husband asked me if it was a robotic voiceover. I didn’t think it was that bad.

This book is good for those that like a good drama and mild psychological thriller. If you like mysteries, not so much.

Child abuse difficult to listen to

This book has way too many child abuse exchanges. It's too heart wrenching to listen to. Had to toss it back.

I loved this book

Every character was well developed. The story pulled you in. I didn’t want to stop listening. I was reticent to read a story about a little girl who was abused. However, there is no sexual or real physical abuse. I fell in love with little Mia. Its a feel good book snd I was ready to enjoy a drama with a satisfying ending.

School reading

This book reminded me of one of those boring books you’d have to read for a book report or something in high school. It was predictable

Pleasantly surprised

This was a suggestion from Audible and I was skeptical as I haven't read anything from this author before. But I was pleasantly surprised. Good story line and good performance. I will definitely be reading more from this author.

Comfort food in book form

It's like a Disney movie. All the good guys are 100% virtuous and flawless and the bad guys are completely nightmarishly bad. Fantastic voice acting! Also, product placement in a book, haha

wonderful story and the narration was spectacular. also the book has no profanity and moderate adult themes that I think my kids who are above age of 9 will enjoy listening to this heart warming story
