Publisher's Summary

Clever, cunning and highly skilled - there's only one Bianca St. Ives and don't you dare forget it

Bianca St. Ives was recently put through the wringer, but she came out the same way she always does - the way her father trained her to - hungry for a fight. Still navigating the fallout from a shocking revelation that's left a network of assassins' crosshairs trained on her, Bianca's ready to take fate into her own hands. It's kill or be killed, and she's got her finger flush against the trigger.

But as Bianca races to outmaneuver her tireless pursuers, her father loops her in on a job that might just do the trick: recover King Priam's Treasure, a collection of heavily guarded, priceless artifacts stolen by the Russians during World War II, and return it to Germany. Impossible? Maybe for some, but a high-risk heist is all in a day's work for Bianca St. Ives, especially when there's intel on the line - intel that could finally bring down the shadowy forces seeking to bury Bianca for good. Faced with threats that circle closer with every move she makes, she knows the stakes have never been higher, but when you're already living on borrowed time, you have to hustle if you want to live to see tomorrow.

I HATE Cliffhangers

This is a really good story but I wish I had waited until the last book (I hope, enough is enough) was available. Now we have to wait until next year and, frankly, it is too long - and pretty arrogant of the author to stick it to her audience that way. I cry foul.

Amazing

I'm thankful I found this AFTER all of the books, at least the first few, have already been published. Cliff hangers. Again, narrator killed it. Love love love.

Disappointing Ending!

The story line was very good; however, to get 4 stars, it would have had to have a very different ending!

Can’t stop listening!

Second in the trilogy, I’m now compelled to get to number three as fast as I can! Perhaps needless to say, I’ve really enjoyed Ms. Robards’ thriller take on the world of spies and grand thieves. Julia Whelan is an enormously talented voice actor. Together, these ladies created an almost addictive story - delicious fun for we listeners.

The Guardian series

I'm stingy with 5-star reviews. It's just a thing, Yeah, I believe there are some, but not many, especially in modern prose. But ... nevertheless, IMO The Guardian series is just great and deserves the praise. To get the most of the series, you must read in order. The Ultimatum followed with The Moscow Deception, and finally The Fifth Doctrine. More stories to follow? They could. Each story is in the area of ten hours of listening in the unabridged audiobook, thirty hours of entertainment.

Plot. A beautiful woman, Bianca, is the genetically altered product of a CIA covert experiment to create the super=soldier. Athletic, strong, brilliant, drop=dead gorgeous, and a touch devious when necessary, like to save her own life. It seems morality squeaked into the CIA and they decided the operation should be scrubbed, it was unethical, wrong. So...they decide to kill everyone associated with the program. Bianca disagrees. This is the thrust of The Guardian.

Liked. The inescapable situations that doom Bianca with regularity simply need a plan, and she always comes up with a plan. Some incredibly creative writing and imagination by Karen Robards - kudos! Narration by Julia Whelan is terrific, even male voices are extraordinarily good.

Not so hot. A bit slow in tempo for my taste. Pumped the iPhone app up to 1.3, but you may find it peachy. Not enough of an issue to lower the rating, at all.

Really enjoying this Series!!!

I'm hooked so far. I love how we're learning Bianca little by little and her development as a character. KR paints a really detailed environment and scene for visualization which JW delivers so brilliantly!!

I'll be honest, I don't think I'd be as enraptured in the book if I read this versus listening, and its all thanks to JW's absolutely amazing narration. The Best of the best performer right here. KR is extremely lucky to have a top notch narrator who can bring out exactly what KR was trying to portray in her scenes.

Onto Book #3!!

Looking forward to the conclusion...

Good second story...a sort of female Orphan X, love it and can't wait for the conclusion but would not mind seeing more of her story!

EXCELLENT AUTHOR! EXCEPTIONAL STORY!!!

This is the second book in this series and I've completed it and already into the 3rd and final book. Karen Robards is a new author in my long list of favorites but I can truthfully say that she doesn't disappoint. I hope by the time I get to the end of "The Fifth Doctrine" that I find that there's hope for a future continuation of the series. I have grown to love and hate the characters throughout the story.

Julia Whelan?!?!!! I know I've listened to her before but gezzzz...what a talent she is. I absolutely love her extensive range in her library of voices. However, she could work on her "southern" accent a little. Surely we don't sound THAT bad. ;)

I highly recommend this series. But it's one of those that you MUST read/listen to in order. Otherwise you won't know how some of the characters fit within the plot. So glad I found this author.

Karen Robard Winner

Rivoting suspense, pulse pounding action, likable characters and colorful settings are all included and repeated throughout this excellent story! Bianca is a beautiful, caring, clever woman whom you want to succeed. The romance is not the main focus, but teases with delicious nibbles. Thank you Ms. Robards!!
