Publisher's Summary

Hope Carpenter opens up about her personal struggles that nearly destroyed her family, her church, and her ministry, but then God did something miraculous—out of her brokenness, He made something beautiful.

As co-pastor of one of the nation's largest megachurches, Hope Carpenter had perfected the roles of supportive wife, good mother, devoted worship leader, and dutiful homemaker. But inside, she was secretly ashamed, sad, and afraid. She didn't know who she was, and she didn't know how to ask for help without bringing down the whole façade. A series of bad choices led to multiple affairs; her husband kicked her out and announced from the pulpit of their church that their marriage was over. Hope was sure her life was done. But in her lowest moments, something beautiful happened. God met her there, and, with a lot of hard work, time, and mountains of therapy, she started to understand the pain that had caused her to act out. She and her family faced their brokenness together, and in powerful acts of forgiveness only God could have arranged, they all found real breakthrough and healing. Ron and Hope rebuilt their marriage and their family, and their ministry thrives today.

In The Most Beautiful Disaster, Hope helps listeners understand the lasting impact of childhood trauma and gives listeners practical steps to uncovering the root of pain in their own lives. She shows how small decisions can lead to big changes, and helps listeners find healing and wholeness in Scripture and prayer. Ultimately, listeners will be led to hope, reconciliation, and true freedom.

Critic Reviews

"Hope Carpenter holds nothing back in her new book. A life marked by trauma and shame becomes a picture of God’s redeeming grace. This book is vulnerable and powerful.” (Pastor Steven and Holly Furtick, Elevation Church)

"Riveting. Authentic. Deeply touching. This read is inspiring and touches the soul of the reader. The way Hope draws us into her life’s story is impactful. Very few can do that effectively. She cuts through the fluff of our modern church culture to get down to the real truth - the maskless self that's exposed before God. If you want your life to be changed forever, READ THIS BOOK!" (Heather and Cornelius Lindsey, authors)

"Hope Carpenter, you’ve been reading our email! Okay, let’s be honest. We’ve been caught fronting - putting on fake Instagram happy faces while trying to mask some unimaginable hurt from our past. Here, Hope reveals her own very personal trauma and shows us how to unravel our internal tangle of secrets and allow those old wounds to finally heal. It’s time to get real: Nobody’s perfect! And it’s comforting just to know we’re not the only one with scars.” (Pastor Nicole Crank, host of The Nicole Crank Show, author, speaker, and cofounder of FaithChurch.com)

Better as An Audiobook

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL DISASTER – How God Makes Miracles Out of Our Mistakes was sent to me by Hachette Book Group, free of charge, in exchange for my honest review.
Hope Carpenter, the author of this Christian, non-fiction book, is the co-founder of the mega church Redemption Church, along with her husband, Ron Carpenter. Redemption Church has campuses in South Carolina, California, and the Dominican Republic. She is also a speaker all over the world.
Man! This woman has been through it!! But, because she has, and is willing to share. Maybe, we can avoid a lot of it. I thank her for putting herself out there, to help others. She says we need to “dig to the bottom of our brokenness and achieve real breakthrough”…She was, “shattered, broken, made low, healed, and set free.”
I love that she uses a lot of Scripture, plus gives action steps and prayers throughout the book.
I purchased this book on audio, as well. I would have to say that, this is one book that you NEED to listen to! Hope Carpenter narrates her own book, and we can HEAR her imploring emotions.
I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND AUDIOBOOK!!

a great testimony of what God can do with a life.

many people would not choose to put themselves in such a public place to share their faults and problems. What Hope has done is share her story so others can hear what can be done by a willing vessel. I enjoyed the story with Hope narrating. I feel I know her and Ron Carpenter better because of this book. I highly recommend.

Beautifully Raw

What an amazingly, authentic and raw journey through the life of the Carpenters. I loved Hope’s genuine communication of the truth of not only her life but the lives of many who sit in churches week after week. There is a reason her name is Hope Carpenter - the Lord (The Carpenter) recreated, restructured, redirected and renewed that wounded little girl giving her hope in Him, Jesus Christ her Lord. And in turn uses her to share this hope to all who dare to to become a Most Beautiful Disaster. A must read/listen!

POWERFUL STORY!

To be honest I am not a reader in any way shape or form... I recently set a goal for my life to start reading books more and that within five years I wanted to read 60 books. That might not sound like a lot to some people but for me that is a huge number. This book was one of the easiest reads I have ever accomplished. I absolutely love this book! thank you Hope for writing this book! Thank you for being open and vulnerable to share your testimony to the world!

Testimony

This book truly is a now book. A testimony to the faithfulness of GOD in all areas of our lives. Thankful to the Carpenters for not only sharing their testimony but being transparent and vulnerable in how they shared with such detail. The beauty is they just didn’t leave us with telling their story but how to do the work- Biblically. Beauty for ashes indeed. A must read for all that want to fulfill their true purpose and destiny.
