Publisher's Summary

A brand-new Stephanie King novel, from the best-selling queen of psychological thrillers.

A year ago today, we all gathered for Lucas' wedding at his glorious Cornish home overlooking the sea.

But no one was married that day.

Now Lucas has invited us back to celebrate the anniversary. But the anniversary of what? The wedding that never happened, or the tragedy that occurred just hours before the ceremony was due to begin?

He's told us that tonight he has planned a game. We have our costumes, we have our parts, and everyone must play. The game, he tells us, is about to begin.

What does Lucas want from us? What are we not being told? And what's going to happen when this terrible game is over?

Just really really... boring

I love all of Rachel Abbott’s books and I usually just can’t stop reading or listening. However this one really disappointed. Nothing really happened until chapter 12 and even then it was still boring. By the end I really didn’t care what the outcome was. I hate leaving a crappy review but this just wasn’t enjoyable for me

Disappointing and predictable

I really enjoy Rachel Abbott books but this one was quite poor. It was very predictable - the twist was evident very early on. And there were some highly unlikely scenarios together with very dubious police procedures. Disappointing.

Very entertaining

I really enjoyed this. I’ve loved the DCI Tom Douglas series but the first book in this series I found a little disappointing. So this was a really welcome surprise. The narration was very good.

Really enjoyed this - but not the Scottish accent

Whilst I’d guessed part of the ending ahead of time I would give the story 5 stars plus plus!! It’s interesting how Stephanie’s presence is not the major part of the story making it really credible and fascinating.

The pace was good and complexity sufficient to keep me listening- devoured it in 2 large chunks!

Wasn’t impressed with the narrator’s voicing of DI Brodie - a combination of a sketchy Scottish accent and a too-high pitch would have left me feeling he was a weak female. Luckily the story is suitably compelling that I was able to grit my teeth and persevere.

Would highly recommend this - but suggest you read the first book first for a bit of background.

Bizarre turn of Events

4.5 Stars

I preferred this story to book 1, What a plot.

Lucas and Nina are getting married, he owns a massive house with staff and the wedding will take place at home.

Lucas has invited his closet friends and somehow all of his friends seem to be beholden to him and seem to do what he says - Why!!!

When the wedding day arrives, a tragic incident occurs which means the wedding is off.

A year later the same friends are invited back and much to everyone’s discomfort the table is set and one place is vacant but the name card on the place card speaks volumes

Lucas announces he has a game in store for them all called “The Murder Game” now what does it involve and will he find the answers he is looking for......

Great yarn

I did enjoy this. The narrator Olivia has a terrific voice and she tells her story well.
I’ve read quite a few of Rachel Abbott’s books and this one is a step up. Well done
