Publisher's Summary
In this middle-grade fantasy, perfect for fans of Nevermoor and The School for Good and Evil series, humor, heart, and a symphony of magic take center stage.
Amelia Jones has always dreamed of attending the Mystwick School of Musicraft, where the world’s most promising musicians learn to create musical magic. Unfortunately, Amelia botches her audition and her dream comes crashing down—until the school agrees to give her a second chance. Amelia vows to do whatever it takes to make her dream come true.
However, between a teacher who really dislikes her and a roommate who wants to see her expelled, Amelia has her hands full. On top of that, supernatural powers are threatening Mystwick, and Amelia might be the only person who can save the school…but only if she can remain true to herself. The combination of Jessica Khoury’s storytelling mastery, the highly-nuanced performance by award-winning narrator Suzy Jackson, and the songs, musical interludes, and original compositions included in this audio (all performed by the NJSO Youth Orchestras) makes it a treat for all fans of the fantasy genre.

Amazing example of how audiobooks should be
If you like music and magic this is a wonderful audiobook to try. It really shows how an audio format can enhance the written word and make it beautiful. I cried through the entire climax of this book and I'm about to see if this author has written more. I don't regret this being one of my free Audible Original choices.

So good I’m bummed out I have to wait for the next one
This caught me by surprise. I just happened onto this book as a freebie from Amazon. I will definitely purchase every book that is created in the series. Having the music interjected into the narration was brilliant. I even teared up. I’m a grown man and young adult stuff is not my thing but this is just something special. This Author is the next JK Rawlings. The movie rights on this will be epic.

What a cute story!
Loved the premise of music being magic. It’s a kid’s story so some of the school drama and plot need to be taken in with that in mind. But I found it really enjoyable! I loved the way they added the musical parts in the background. I generally do NOT like when audiobooks do this as it adds no value, however here it really made sense and was very well done!

Better than expected
I'm a musician, and this was free, so I thought give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised to get sucked in to the storyline and the well written character development. Some of the plot twists were fairly obvious, but otherwise very creative, well written, and well performed. It left me wanting a sequel, and a movie.

Unexpected gem
I usually do not like any type of music added to audiobooks. The music I encountered in audiobooks so far was poor quality and distracting. This is SO different here. The music is an integral and wonderful part of the story and even brought me to tears once. I was sucked into the book within the first 10 minutes and finished it the same day. The narrator is superb and the story uplifting and encouraging. This is a book I would not even attempt to read after having listened to the audiobook, as the performance adds more than my imagination while reading ever could. This is by far my most favorite of the audible originals!

O.M.G spectacular
If you had looked at the story in a different way, it was quite dark, but the way it is described doesn’t make it feel that way. It’s packed full of detail and a stunning book to listen to.

Musical Hogwarts
Took me a few chapters to get into it, but then I really enjoyed it. I was a big Harry Potter fan and this is the closest I’ve come to finding something on par. There’s many musical references which might be lost on people who never learned an instrument, but it’s still easy enough to know what’s happening.
I highly recommend it. I’m about to get the next in the series.

Ideal driving book for whole family group
Gentle flowing school story book ideal for listening with family on long car trip.
Reader style and voice is gentle, clear and flowing. 12 year old heroine is likeable as she struggles with her identity and learning music and magic. The inclusion of actual music helps to round out the story and keep the interest of an eight year old.
I highly recommend it
