Publisher's Summary

She’ll do anything to escape an arranged marriage. He’ll do anything to help her.

Honora Crauford relishes her life in India. So when her father informs her of his latest business transaction - marrying her off to a bankrupt nobleman in England - her only hope for returning home is to convince her betrothed, by whatever antics necessary, that a marriage to her comes at a cost that not even the greatest fortune can justify.

Graham Whitworth can hardly believe his wretched luck. It seems the only way to save his family’s insolvent estate is to comply with his father’s demands and marry the extremely wealthy, but utterly ridiculous, nabob’s daughter. But when Honora missteps, Graham discerns her farce and begins to see who she truly is - a most impressive lady. A lady likely capable of fixing his family’s financial troubles.

Realizing they both desire freedom, Graham and Honora join forces to restore the Whitworth estate and return Honora to her beloved India. But sometimes love has its own agenda, and the revoking of a once undesirable arrangement may just prove to be the greatest sacrifice of all.

One audiobook you don’t want to miss!

Absolutely adored the audiobook version of The Nabob’s Daughter! It can easily be added to one of my favorite audiobooks I’ve listened to. With a fantastic story, witty dialogue, humorously absurd situations, and plenty of romance, this book drew me in completely. The narrator was so endearing and did an amazing job bringing each of the characters to life with the perfect amount of emotion.

Honora is the only daughter of a successful nabob. When her father arranges for her to leave her beloved India to marry the son of a nobleman in England, she is understandably upset. Her dowry is meant to save the estate from financial ruin. Determined to find a way out of the contract and back to India, Honora adopts an outrageous, obnoxiously annoying fake persona and vows to do whatever it takes to make Graham Whitworth think that no amount of money is worth marriage to her.

Graham does not like the idea of having to marry to save the family estate. However, he’s willing to do his duty and is at first entranced by Honora’s appearance until she opens her mouth and displays such absurd mannerisms. She claps at the servants for heaven’s sake! When he catches her with her guard down and sees for the first time the real Honora, they decide work together to find a way out of their difficulties. Honora is convinced that there’s a way to find out where the estate’s funds have gone. The more time they spend together, the enemies become friends and this leads to attraction. Will they still agree to end the marriage agreement when the time comes?

Loved this story! Honora was such a funny endearing character. She was so absurd when she adopted her fake persona and created so many laugh out loud moments. I loved the narrator because she adopted this high pitched voice that was perfect for what Honora was doing. Now I understand why everyone was talking about peacocks! That moment was hilarious!

Graham is the perfect hero. He’s charming, witty, and very romantic. I loved his flirting and his willingness to go after what he wanted. The moment where he tries to “help” her on the rocks was particularly swoony!

The story was exceptional and I was surprised by the variety of emotions it evoked. I loved the way the author shared Indian culture that isn’t typically found in regency romance. The real struggles of the Whitworth family, the swoonworthy romance, the laugh out loud humor, mystery, witty dialogue, and some surprises along the way all made this a must read and must listen. It is a fantastic and unique contribution to the regency genre.

The audiobook version is amazing and I highly recommend it. The delivery and narration is spot on and an enjoyable listen. I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook from the author. All opinions are my own and I was not required to give a positive review.

This needs to be a movie!

No kidding! There are a thousand books imitating the time and setting of Jane Austen novels. This is the BEST book of this category. Not just romance and a setting in 1800s England but also a PLOT! A halerous story that you will not want to end.. Also the reader is an absolute treasure.

Clean and fun!

Clean, fun story, with a few twists and turns. Good narration, with only a couple mispronounced words. However, great voices!

Awful narrator

It's an audiobook and the high pitched ear piercing voice of Honora from the narrator makes it very difficult to listen to or enjoy the story.

Clean but Slow

This is a clean romance, but slow. The H & h are indecisive & allow everyone else to control them. It's an ok novel but I won't be listening to it again in a hurry. Also it's written in 1st person - one chapter by the H, another by the h. Very unusual and takes a while to get used to. The narrator is good at doing the different voices but her reading overall didn't flow well and I found it a bit unnatural and irksome. Also had to speed it up a bit.
