I knocked up my best friend's sister. Let's start with how she decided to inform me and Pacey the news...together. Imagine that nightmare. I was going into what I thought was a hockey marketing meeting, and then bam! I'm going to be a dad and my best friend/teammate is attempting to imprint my face with his fist. Threats were tossed around, friendships were revoked, and then I was marched up to her apartment, suitcases in hand, and forced to live with her so I could take care of her every need. Now I'm finding it harder and harder not to fall for my best friend's little sister.

Publisher's Summary
USA Today and Wall Street Journal best-selling author Jewel E. Ann returns with an addictive new adult romance about a young woman who discovers years of Sunday sermons didn’t prepare her for the many lessons of the crude and sexy man who is now her boss.
It's official.
I'm 18 and a young woman with endless possibilities, on my way to reunite with my mom in Colorado after five years apart - she had a little weed incident in Nebraska.
At the airport, she springs the news on me...she's leaving for a month of job training. And me? I'm left on my own in the basement she's renting from the fisherman, a.k.a. her landlord who lives upstairs.
He's 10 years older than me. Never wears a shirt. And makes it hard to remember all the things I learned at Christian Academy.
Did I mention he’s also my new boss?

premarital sex is bad???
Jewel E Ann is one of my FAV authors. This is a good book, as is all of Jewel's books, but not being a religious person and very socially liberal, I'm having a little trouble with this one. I respect other people's religious POV but I find myself wanting to scream at times. I don't remember girls not having premarital sex when I was 16, 40 years ago 🙄. The narration is good and of course, I have to read Book 2. I'm counting on a HEA!!

Sooo tired
I should know better than to start a Jewel E Ann book when I’m not on vacation. I was up past 2 am listening to this one, but I don’t regret it. The narration is fantastic. I love how Jewel works fate into the plot. I LOVE the “it’s meant to be” stories. I appreciated the coming of age conflict and the struggle with convictions and looking at the world in black and white. But I also went back and forth on how I felt about the demonizing of Christianity. It’s not fair to have a black and white view of the world, but it’s not entirely fair to have a black and white view on Christians either, which this book seemed to do with working in the brainwashing cult attitude. But I did enjoy the character’s emotional struggle. I couldn’t get enough of this book. Thanks, Jewel.

Favorite JEA so far!
This is hands-down my favorite book by this author, and the fact that it was a duo made it that much sweeter. I adored Fisher, and in spite of this being an older guy/younger girl scenario, the author pulled things off really well. The differences between them because of their age were obvious, but not so overly done that it was hard to believe.

So Incredibly Good
The great thing about a JEA story is that character development is sure to be amazing, the plot will just become more enticing with each chapter and you’re bound to be emotionally gutted to the core! And of course the Naked Fisher Man and Reese are captivating! I’m so excited for more with The Lost Fisherman!!!

3-3.5, a coming of age, forbidden romance
This was my first read by Jewel E. Ann and I went into this blind, but know that I wanted to try this author out. And I was gifted the audiobook, so I dove right in.
This was almost a DNF, but I sensed that there would be some major character development especially with Reese. I definitely have a lot of mixed feelings about this one, but overall, I did enjoy. I saw a ton comments Reese’s immaturity, but she’s 18, so I wasn’t too baffled by it all. And with this being a bit of a coming of age, it was what I expected.
I struggled a bit with the religious factor, it’s definitely a non-preference when I pick up a book. But with how she was raised and going to a religious academy, it won’t be easy for her to completely change her thoughts when it comes to certain things. And that’s where homophobia came in. I was bit surprised that was written in, but we all know there’s religions that don’t accept LGBTQ+ community. I could have done away with this. However, I’m hoping to see more growth from this in the next book, gosh there better be.
I would have liked to see a dual POV because I needed a bit of a break from Reese’s mind. And I couldn’t get a read on Fisher. He’s a physical guy, so we didn’t get a ton on the emotional side, so I would have loved to see that.
I actually liked the way this book ended because I do think that Reese has more maturing to do with her life. So yes, this isn’t a standalone, there’s no HEA as of yet. But I’m going to dive into book 2.
Narrator: 5 stars from me for the narrator. I thought they were a solid choice for Reese and I was hooked into the story.

The Fisherman Duet!
This is a new adult coming of age novel that is a duet. A very well balanced storyline. The story revolves around Reesie's christianity and her beliefs, faith, and lifestyle changes. Her story is told within the scope of her relationship with her boss Fisher who happens to be ten years older than her. Jewel E Ann catalyzed a leisurely romantic trek to bring them together. As of right now I need to listen to book two find out if this love is real or just an illusion in this duet.
Tia Rider narration was smooth and easy listening. She brought out the characters personality and emotions were well expressed.

I absolutely love Jewel's writing. Don't miss this
“You deserve to have your breath taken away…every day.” Review: I had no idea what to expect with this book. I was excited and nervous going in. Jewel knows just how to rip your heart out. This book was so good I couldn't put it down. I stayed up way too late reading (2:30AM) and neglected all my adulting duties,😝 but I couldn't stop. Jewel knows just how to hook you in. Each book I read of hers I can't put them down. I don't want to say too much because I actually love going into Jewel's books blind. This book does end on a cliffhanger! Reese has lived a very sheltered life with her grandparents, (which was totally me by the way). She relocates in order to reconnect with her mother. Only it isn't what she expects when she arrives. From her first meeting with The Naked Fisherman there is heat. Oh my gosh I could feel it through my phone. I absolutely devoured The Naked Fisherman.😏 He was DELICIOUS!🥵🤤 The angst in this book was nothing like I have ever experienced. It brought back so many memories of my teenage years.😂 Reese was mature in the situations she was put in. Maybe even more so than I would be.🤣 I think she may be my favorite heroine. I loved the way The Naked Fisherman handled Reese and everything about her. The banter, sexual innuendos, the chemistry, tension, serious and swoon worthy parts just stole my heart. “Oh, naked fisherman…how does it feel to carry my heart in your pocket? Its fate solely dependent on you?” I fell hard for him and wanted to steal him all for myself. I really don't want to give too much away. JUST READ THIS BOOK!
UPDATED: I listen to the audiobook for my 2nd read through by Tia Rider and it was excellent! This was my first by her, but I loved the way she brought Reese to life. I loved her inflections, voice changes for characters and sounds. It was perfect for this book and I can't wait to listen to The Lost Fisherman next! I was shocked at how much I laughed and cried being it was a re-read. That is the power of Jewel's words though. Her writing is amazing! I highly recommend this duet!

The Naked Fisherman
My first book of this author.
I really liked the story. Bit different to most others.
You have the religious 18 year old vergin and the 28 year old manwh*re.
In a twisted way they have instant attraction.
Because of the cliffhanger, it's necessary to listen to book 2, so I know if they'll have a future together.

This is actually my first read by Jewel E. Ann, and quite honestly, for a big portion of the book I was on the fence. Yes, Reese Capshaw is barely an adult, just having turned eighteen, so she is allowed to be childish from time to time. But having been raised by her overly conservative, strict catholic grandparents for the last five years, left its mark. She is naïve and, well, bigoted at times. And the times she called him “the naked fisherman” in her head were innumerous and almost drove me up a tree, lol.
But then came the last few chapters and with that a glimpse at the bigger picture. And I started to become entirely enamored with the story. Suddenly, my heart couldn’t stop pitter-pattering and my eyes couldn’t stop growing wet. I’m captivated. Enthralled. The tension (holy dirty talk!), emotion, and angst were high in this book, and I’m absolutely excited to find out how it all will culminate in the second part of this duet!
Tia Rider did an amazing job conveying every emotion the characters felt, giving each of them a distinctive voice, and generally enhancing the story and making it an even more intense experience.

Excellent age-gap and forbidden romance!
This is the first book in the Fisherman series. Wow! I loved it! This story is well written and fascinating. This is an excellent age-gap and forbidden romance. I liked the slow burn romance, the angst, the push and pull relationship, and the intense attraction. Fisher and Reese are fantastic characters. They are opposites attract. Fisher is 28. He is Reese's boss. He is a manwhore and a jerk, flirty, unapologetic, unpredictable, and definitely enigmatic. I like to hate/love a character! Reese is 18. She is a Christian, virgin, naive, and impulsive. Their journey to love is captivating. The writing is original, and addictive. Tia Rider did an excellent job with the narration. Looking forward to listening to the next book in the series, to know what happens next. I highly recommend it.

Audio: 5 🎧
This book was so intense! So many emotions and so much angst. At first I felt like Reese was SO YOUNG but the author does an amazing job of showing her journey to growing up. The tension between her and Fisher is palpable throughout the entire book and I’m excited to see where they go from here!

The ending was fantastic!
3 stars
I will admit it took me a while to get into this book. Reese and Fisher didn't jump from the pages and some of their banter was a little bit cringe-worthy BUT that all changed as the book progressed. Fisher grew on me and I loved Reese's development.
70% in, I was hooked, I'm not going to spoil anything but I can't wait to read the second book!

Wow
‘𝐎𝐡, 𝐧𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧 … 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐦𝐲 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐭? 𝐈𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮?‘
Well, JEA strikes again. I won’t lie. The first half of the book conflicted me. I wanted to keep reading, I wanted to understand the hype, but my brain just would not process it.
Why did everyone rave about this book?
But then I got invested. And I kept listening. And I started to understand. The story itself was thought provoking, the characters stuck in a conflict of moral decisions. There was no gray, only white or black, and it made things very complicated, because life is nothing but grays.
This gave me such ‘unrequited’ vibes, but in a complex way. I always felt like Reese just felt more. But that could simply be bc I was only hearing her voice, and seeing the fisherman’s actions through her eyes.
Whatever it was, the way this ended, I am beyond ready to move onto book two.

Bring on part 2!
There is something about the writing style of Jewel E Ann that totally absorbs me. I am not sure what it is, but you would think I would know better than to listen while I am supposed to be sleeping. Yes, it kept me awake just so I could know what was going to happen. This story has a little bit of everything. Age gap romance, boss-employee, naive virgin, and an internal fight with religious beliefs all wrapped up into a "meant to be" story. Reese is 18, newly graduated and taking a year off from college, much to the chagrin of her overbearing grandparents. Now taking the summer to live with her mother, she is going to have a whole new perspective on the world opened up to her. Living in the basement of Fisher's house, she is taken with the older, handsome, experienced man. And despite fighting their feelings, the chemistry is unmistakable. This fated couple is addicting. Fisher is hard to like and impossible not to love. He is a jerk, there is no question about it, but he carries his own issues that are slowly coming to light. Reese is dying to be an adult, and her struggle to be mature is just frustrating. Plus the relationships of the secondary characters is relevant and intriguing. Getting to know both Reese's mom and her grandparents sheds so much light on her psyche. I am hooked on the story and can't wait for the second part.
Tia Rider just enhances this story. Her fabulous narration is on point with all the characters and I just love her voice. It's rich and holds the exact emotional push-pull to make the story come alive. A better casting choice could not have been made.

OH MY HEART....THIS BOOK SLAYED ME - SWOON CITY
There was literally NOTHING I didn't love about this first part of Jewel's duet! It has been a long time since I couldn't put a book down. Reese and Fisher are fabulous characters and the storyline is compelling. The angst is real and not forced which is my favorite kind....I laughed, I swooned, I hurt and the entire time I didn't want it to end. When I hit "to be continued" I nearly screamed. Bring on part two :)
My favorite Jewel book is A Place Without You and I have to say, this is right up there with that one for me. Sorry other Jewel faves but you are getting bumped down a bit to make room for this gem.
