Story
It's Peretti's ultimate monster story. And this time, the monster is real. Miles away from the hectic city, Reed and Rebecca hike into the beautiful Northwestern woods. They're surrounded by gorgeous mountains, waterfalls, and hundreds of acres of unspoiled wilderness. But something - or someone - begins closing in on them. Something no human has ever seen. And it's killing everyone in its path without remorse.

1950: Margaret Devonshire (Megs) is a 17-year-old student of mathematics and physics at Oxford University. When her beloved eight-year-old brother asks Megs if Narnia is real, logical Megs tells him it’s just a book for children, and certainly not true. Homebound due to his illness, and remaining fixated on his favorite books, George presses her to ask the author of the recently released novel The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe a question: “Where did Narnia come from?”

Story
This book is the haunting true story of pain Frank Peretti never forgot but never, until recently, shared with the world. It's the story of growing up with a medical condition that left him disfigured. A series of surgeries and the slow miracle of answered prayer took care of the deformity, but not the underdeveloped frame or the excruciating reality of being different. And it was for these petty "crimes" that Peretti was prosecuted every day at school - especially in gym class, but also in the halls, on the school grounds, even in his own neighborhood.

Story
When ballet dancer Clara Campbell arrives in New Orleans, lonely and homesick, she is immediately captivated by the story of Windisle Plantation and the tragic tale that is said to have transpired beyond its gate. Legend has it that it is abandoned by all living souls, but to Clara’s great surprise, it is not a ghost she hears through the stone wall surrounding the property, but a flesh and blood man: a scarred stranger with a pain deeper and darker than the churning waters of the Mississippi river that flows beside his self-imposed prison.

A brutal killer lurks near Hyde River in the Pacific Northwest. When wildlife biologist Steve Benson is called in to investigate the latest murder, he discovers that the victim is his brother. But why are the terrorized townspeople silent—and unwilling to help?
Something evil is at work in Hyde River, an isolated mining town in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest. Under the cover of darkness, a predator strikes without warning—taking life in the most chilling and savage fashion.
The community of Hyde River watches in terror as residents suddenly vanish. Yet, the more locals are pressed for information, the more they close ranks, sworn to secrecy by their forefathers’ hidden sins.
Only when Hyde River’s secrets are exposed is the true extent of the danger fully revealed. What the town discovers is something far more deadly than anything they’d imagined. Something that doesn’t just stalk its victims—it has the power to turn hearts black with decay as it slowly fills their souls with darkness.

Suspenseful page turner
If M. Night Shyamalan and Billy Graham got together to make a movie, you might have a story like The Oath. There’s creepy suspense and mystery mixed with a message about the toxicity and fatality of sin. Peretti did a decent job making it sound more human than preachy (although it clearly has a Christian message). He doesn’t pull punches with his characters; they face incredible odds and some don't make it. While I was a bit overwhelmed trying to follow the many characters early on, it didn’t take long for me to settle in. The characters are well developed, and the story kept me glued all throughout. This is one of the better works of Christian fiction I’ve read. Well written, intriguing, suspenseful, and well worth a read. I recommend it for Young Adults and older since there are mature scenes including violence and sensuality.

Not my favorite Peretti book, but still fantastic.
Well-written; well-narrated. I've listened to it twice, and while the symbolism is quite obvious for the most part, you still catch more of it the second time around. I'd honestly love to see a movie made out of this, but I doubt that will ever happen.
I'll always be partial to Peretti's "The Visitation" and "This Present Darkness," but this one lands in my top 3 from him.

PERETTI'S BEST
This is not the book that made Frank Peretti famous but it is my favourite. It vividly describes what sin does to us. Christians must run away from sin even while not wanting to do it. I loved Tom Taylorson's voice, however I wished he would not try to "feminise" female voices. It sounded weird and just a plain reading in his own voice would have worked better. However, I do recommend this audio book.
