Publisher's Summary

Everything you believe about how to lose weight is wrong. Weight gain and obesity are driven by hormones - in everyone - and only by understanding the effects of insulin and insulin resistance can we achieve lasting weight loss.

In this highly listenable and provocative book, Dr. Jason Fung sets out an original, robust theory of obesity that provides startling insights into proper nutrition.

In addition to his five basic steps - a set of lifelong habits that will improve your health and control your insulin levels - Dr. Fung explains how to use intermittent fasting to break the cycle of insulin resistance and reach a healthy weight - for good.

Our understanding of cancer is slowly undergoing a revolution, allowing for the development of more effective treatments. For the first time ever, the death rate from cancer is showing a steady decline...but the “War on Cancer” has hardly been won. In The Cancer Code, Dr. Jason Fung offers a revolutionary new understanding of this invasive, often fatal disease - what it is, how it manifests, and why it is so challenging to treat. In this rousing narrative, Dr. Fung identifies the medical community’s many missteps in cancer research - in particular, its focus on genetics, or what he terms the “seed” of cancer, at the expense of examining the “soil”, or the conditions under which cancer flourishes. Dr. Fung - whose groundbreaking work in the treatment of obesity and diabetes has won him international acclaim - suggests that the primary disease pathway of cancer is caused by the dysregulation of insulin.

In fact, obesity and type 2 diabetes significantly increase an individual’s risk of cancer. In this accessible listen, Dr. Fung provides a new paradigm for dealing with cancer, with recommendations for what we can do to create a hostile soil for this dangerous seed. One such strategy is intermittent fasting, which reduces blood glucose, lowering insulin levels.

Not Narrated by Dr. Jason Fung

I’ve read both books and got the audio to have another go at it while driving. The content is great.

Narration is also ok. However it is advertised as narrated by Dr. Jason Fung and it is not. It doesn’t take away from the book but it is misleading. It doesn’t even sound like the narrator of he sample. This seems suspect to me.

Great Books, Though Not Narrated by Dr. Fung

The books are great and I highly recommend them. I do want to point out that they are narrated by Brian Nishii, not Dr. Fung. They are advertised as being narrated by Dr. Fung for some reason. The weirdest part is, in the opening credits for each book, Brian Nishii says the book is narrated by Jason Fung. What??? In any case, the narration is fine, it's just not as advertised.

Informative, but incredibly mundane

So much information in this book about the obesity epidemic in the United States, but I found Parts to be long and mundane, And the author repeats himself numerous times.

I got it after the 1st mention that insulin was the issue.

Loved the Obesity Code

Loved the Obesity Code, extremely interesting and full of useful information about reducing Obesity, but the Cancer Code was a bit disappointing by comparison. The Cancer Code had lot of technical information about how cancer opperates and not a lot of information on what to do about reducing Cancer or what to do if you get cancer.

A must read for every human being!

I read The Diabetes Code and wondered "what more can he add in The Obesity Code" only to realize, a lot!

Love the breakdown of The Cancer Code and made me wow at the end!

Pronunciation!!!

Great book but it’s a shame that the narrator makes so many pronunciation errors.

One example:

“Quin - o - a”.

Really?

Fascinating

Great information, slightly long to get to the point-might lose readers before the end. I wonder if the book could be reduced by half, would there be adaquate content to hit messages home - I think so.
Key takehome- stay a healthy weight by avoiding insulin bursts. Eat a high fat protein diet and intermittent fast often.

Life changing. Get the cookbook too

Only listened to The Obesity Code. Gone from 88kg to 76kg in 3 months and my attitude to food and dieting has completely changed. Will be reading this a few times as there’s quite a lot to u detest and and remember.

Enlightening

The obesity code is fantastic. I have tested its principles and it worked immediately.
The cancer code was a lot more technical and although I got a lot out of it, I think I will need to listen to it at least once more to fully absorb everything. Unfortunately, this book does not provide a solution immediately available like the obesity code did but still great to listen to in order to find out the current status of cancer treatment principles.

Excellent book - Terrible narration

Great information - very informative.

Narration is difficult to listen to - over articulation, uneasily buoyant tone of voice.
