Publisher's Summary

The Jasmine Throne has been hailed as a series opener that will "undoubtedly reshape the landscape of epic fantasy for years to come" (Booklist, starred). Now, award-winning author Tasha Suri's provocative and powerful Burning Kingdoms trilogy continues with The Oleander Sword.

The prophecy of the nameless god—the words that declared Malini the rightful empress of Parijatdvipa—has proven a blessing and curse. She is determined to claim the throne that fate offered her. But even with the strength of the rage in her heart and the army of loyal men by her side, deposing her brother is going to be a brutal and bloody fight.

The power of the deathless waters flows through Priya’s blood. Thrice born priestess, Elder of Ahiranya, Priya’s dream is to see her country rid of the rot that plagues it: both Parijatdvipa's poisonous rule, and the blooming sickness that is slowly spreading through all living things. But she doesn’t yet understand the truth of the magic she carries.

Their chosen paths once pulled them apart. But Malini and Priya's souls remain as entwined as their destinies. And they soon realize that coming together is the only way to save their kingdom from those who would rather see it burn—even if it will cost them.

Helplessly Gay

I’ve been waiting on the edge of my seat for the second book. This story and Tasha Suris words make me feel helplessly and irrevocably gay. Thank you so much for bringing this story to life.

Liked this one better than book 1

I didn’t love book one, but I liked it enough to listen to the second. I really liked this part of the series. The characters and relationships were more developed and believable. There was a lot more action and suspense too. Loved the ending and can’t wait for book 3!

Great sequel

I very much enjoyed this sequel to The Jasmine Throne. I have listened to both books twice now to be sure I understand all the details. Might just listen again as the narrator's voice and style are very soothing.

Can’t wait to get the third book!

Great work by Tasha Suri! The best thing about this book is that the relationships between friends and lovers are believable. The characters are unapologetically themselves (and happen to be lesbians). This book is both tasteful and passionate .
I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a mature and layered story. To anyone who wants to root for a relationship to succeed against the unfavorable odds.
