Publisher's Summary

From USA Today best-selling author Meghan Quinn comes a romantic comedy novella about the magic and misadventures of a one-night stand.

Recently divorced Cooper Chance knows he’s officially in a rut when his parents take him barhopping in the hope of resuscitating his love life. At first, he’s skeptical. How could a gritty dive bar possibly solve his problems? But then he runs into Nora McHale.

Nora isn’t at the bar looking for love. She’s there to unwind after yet another exhausting day at her bakery. And even if she were hoping to meet someone, it sure wouldn’t be Cooper - her best friend’s ex-husband.

According to the unwritten rules of romance, Cooper and Nora are completely off limits to each other. But after a fun, flirty night at the bar, they can’t ignore the wild attraction between them.

Is this the beginning of something real, or will their passionate night together be their one and only?

Enjoyable!

I really enjoyed this novella about Cooper and Nora and their one night. It's filled with all the typical humor and heart that Meghan Quinn always incorporates into her books. I'm glad I knew going into this that it is a prequel to her upcoming book, The Reunion, because it ends without any resolution and left this reader wanting more. I listened to the audiobook, narrated by Laurie West and Teddy Hamilton. Teddy is amazing, as usual. Laurie is a new to me narrator and I thought she did great as well.

Lead in

I enjoyed the story but could not get past the female narrator. She just sounded to old for the part. Always enjoy Mr Hamilton.

What a night!

Short but sweet! Cute story but ended too abruptly. Should have been more communication between the 2 at the end.

I want more

What a juicy little listen!
I loved listening to this book, even though it was gone in a blink. I definitely want more from Cooper and Nora!

Teddy did a wonderful job with narration. I wasn't a huge fan of Laurie but she did a good job.

Well, I’m hooked! Can’t wait to see where this continues with The Reunion

The way Meghan Quinn develops a story never ceases to amaze me. This is a prequel novella for The Reunion. I find often with prequel novellas you get a small connection to the characters, enough to amp up the excitement of the full length book a few notches. With this story, That One Night, I was full invested in the first chapter, the first few pages if I am honest. Meghan just does such a great job with her story and character development here. I am invested in the minor characters here. I loved this and can’t wait for more in The Reunion.

Teddy Hamilton is perfect for Cooper. He adds this extra grump, and snark, and playfulness that makes me so excited to what is next for Cooper. Laurie West was a new to me narrator. I really liked her voice and what she brought to Nora’s character. She was the perfect balance to Cooper.

Interesting story

The One Night is a comedy novella about misadventures of a one night stand between Nora and her best friend’s ex-husband. Cooper and Nora definitely have chemistry and I enjoyed the story. Cooper’s wingmen had me laughing at their antics. I’m interested to see what happens in The Reunion. The narration was good and believable.

Such a disappointment

This was a cute, romantic and witty story, right up until the unexpected cliffhanger. Cooper's parents think he has been miserable long enough. Since his divorce, he has made no effort to meet new people, to go out and enjoy life. They take matters into their own hands and "force" him to come out with them. The Dirty Beaver is the first bar he thinks of and the night begins. His mother finds a family friend, sitting by herself, and calls him over. He can't believe his eyes because this is Nora, his ex-wife's best friend. An internal argument later, he sits down to enjoy her company and enjoy is an understatement. Something is awakening inside them both and then the struggle for Nora is trying to decide if it's breaking the girl code to sleep with a friend's ex. Where it all goes wrong is the morning after... Cooper's guilt, second-guessing and then it ends. I presume this is a prequel.

This was expertly narrated by Teddy Hamilton and Laurie West. Their dynamic voices give an individual personality to all characters as they bring them to life!

Solid 3

SO. MANY. QUESTIONS. The first of which is “Whyyyyy?!” I mean…it was a cute story while it lasted, but when it was over it was O-VERRR. What the utter heck was up with that ending?! When I say I’ve had a furrow in my brow all day trying to make sense of it I’m not joking. I actually double and triple checked the book length on multiple platforms to make sure I wasn’t missing anything, but nope. I enjoyed the story and think you will too, just be warned of the completely rushed, clunky, and disorienting ending.

Extremely negative

I didn’t make it past the first four chapters. Extremely negative. Maybe it improves towards the end but I couldn’t deal with it What a waste of money.

🎧 Cooper and Nora 🎧

Short, funny and steamy. Reads like a Christmas prequel to a full-length novel. Teddy Hamilton is wonderful. First time listening to Laurie West.

Shaping up to be great. But under 3 hrs!

Shaping up to be a good story. It just gets going, then a premature, unsatisfactory finish. What a let down, and con..
Teddy and Laura are great, as usual. But I feel robbed.
It’s more like an essay than a book.
