You went to bed at home, just like every other night. You woke up in the back of a taxi, over 250 miles away. You have no idea how you got there and no memory of the last 10 hours. You have no phone, no money, just a suicide note in your coat pocket, in your own writing. You know you weren't planning to kill yourself. Your family and friends think you are lying. Someone knows exactly what happened to you. But they're not telling....

The white-washed Italian villa is perfect. I thought it might feel odd, living in a stranger’s house for the summer, but as my husband and children swim in the infinity pool, I start to relax. And then, in the back of a wardrobe, I find something that shatters everything.... Sparkling green eyes, square jaw, lopsided smile. A young man with his arm around a beautiful woman. The picture is old and faded, but I’d recognize him anywhere. The man is my husband.

I loved this one.
I'll never understand why Lucy Dawson stories don't have higher ratings. I love her books. I love some more than others, of course, but something about her writing always keeps me completely engaged in the story. Whenever I have to take a break from reading one of her books, I can't wait to get back to it. I loved this audio version read by Karen Cass. The narration was excellent. Five stars for the narration as well as the story. I was actually sad that it ended.

The main character ugh
I love all of Lucy Dawson’s books but this one, not so much. Why? I hated the main character bc unlike the rest of her main characters in other books, she was weak and well, dumb. Like, so unintelligent. It reminded me of the main character from the 50 shades series: who I LOATHED.

She has written a psychological thriller in refreshing unique way!
What an amazing book, I am a really huge fan of Lucy Dawson. Like all of her books this one solidly held my interest and curiosity, as her writing style draws you in and her characters are so real.
Her main character is so narcissistic that a reader may not like her, but she is surrounded by such well developed, interesting, lovable and loving supporting characters that one hangs in there hoping to find some redeeming qualities, as she continues to mess up and make every situation about her self.

Pleasant easy listen
So you're a happily married woman, your husband wants to try for a baby, you kind of want a baby but at the same time you're scared of having a baby so you're playing for time. Then you bump into an old boyfriend and sleep with him because you are drunk. In the morning you wake up next to him and tell him it was a big mistake, but he still has the hots for you and begins stalking you relentlessly and you feel this will threaten what you already have with your much loved husband...
Meanwhile we hear all about your circle of friends and your family life, your brothers, mother and father, grandfather, nieces and nephews. We hear about your parents-in-law with whom you perhaps have a less agreeable relationship...and so it goes on.
Oh yes, and the suspense bit, we spend most of the book wondering whether our heroine will manage to save her marriage. (I won't spoil the ending.)
Everything brought to life and made real by the excellent performance by Karen Cass.

I only kept listening because I had it on while I was working and I thought I’d wait and see if anything materialised. It didn’t! Far too many “incredulous” reactions - wtf is that all about. Narrator narrates in the weirdest list-like tone and the ending is so dull!

LOVED IT! One of the best books I've had for a wh
I loved this book. Not sure exactly what it was that caused me to feel like this, I just know I could't stop listening and I didn't want it to end.
The way that the author gets into the mind of all the characters on this occasion is amazing, she really must have put alot of time and effort into coming up with complex back stories for them all and deciding how they all interloop with each other.
The plot is simple in places but that is good. No need to try to over complicate things, sometimes, the simplest way is the best.
We all have the one who we want to keep track off, see what their life is like and wonder how different it would have been with us in it, this book demonstrates how easy it is for someone we trust(ed) to manipulate us, to the point we no longer feel safe in our lives.
Very well written and thought out.
Another great book by Lucy Dawson, who is fast becoming a fave author of mine.
