Publisher's Summary

Fans of Bridgerton will love this “delightful” Regency romp (Julia Quinn, New York Times best-selling author) in which a proper Society miss recruits a very improper lady investigator in a quest for vengeance, only to find love instead.

As a master of disguise, Thomasina Wynchester can be a polite young lady - or a bawdy old man. She’ll do whatever it takes to solve the cases her family takes on. But when Tommy’s beautiful new client turns out to be the highborn lady she’s secretly smitten with, more than her mission is at stake....

Bluestocking Miss Philippa York doesn’t believe in love. Her heart didn’t pitter-patter when she was betrothed to a duke, nor did it break when he married someone else. All Philippa desires is to decode a centuries-old manuscript to keep a modern-day villain from claiming credit for work that wasn’t his. She hates that she needs a man’s help to do it - so she’s delighted to discover the clever, charming baron at her side is in fact a woman. But as she and Tommy grow closer and the stakes of their discovery higher, more than just their hearts are at risk.

Cute Story, Fantastic Characters.

Tommy, Thomasina, Wynchester can be whatever she needs to be, a young man, an old man, a sassy old lady, or a debutante. What she wants to be is herself, just Tommy. Phillipa York is a bluestocking from a wealthy family. Her mother wants nothing more than for her to marry a titled man. Phillipa doesn’t want to marry at all. Tommy fell in love with Phillipa at first sight, but it may take a bit longer for Phillipa to reciprocate. Phillipa has only seen Tommy in disguise. When she reveals her true identity, Phillipa show interest, but the romance is a slow burn.

At the same time Tommy and Phillipa are discovering love, there is a mystery to solve and an injustice to correct. Damaris’s uncle is about to take credit and receive honors for work she did. This is just the thing the Wynchesters love to be involved in. If the record can be set straight, they can do it.

The Wild Wynchesters is a wonderful series, and this story is a great addition. The story, and the series, is an excellent example of family love and acceptance. Phillipa discovers both, something she has never felt before. She and Tommy are a sweet couple. Reading about the siblings is sheer delight. They are smart, funny, and totally devoted to each other and the latest addition to their family. Cute story, fantastic characters, and a pleasant narration by Moira Quirk. I recommend it.

A fun read

The first few chapters almost made me put it down, but then as if the writer had put the novel down for a few years before picking it back up again. The writing suddenly becomes a lot better the conversations become cute and endearing. Philippa's discovery of her own sexuality is believable and sweet. I enjoyed the pair as a delightful couple and hope the author decides to write more lbgta friendly novels, because despite common belief the lbgta community existed long before our modern understanding of the community.

LOVED this and more, please!

The story was terrific and I loved the MCs. I was pleasantly surprised that one would now be considered non-binary (that goes by the pronouns she/her) and the other a curvaceous high born beauty. While the cover image is beautiful, it doesn't represent what Thomasina "Tommy" Wynchester looks like at all - but I would imagine it would be tough to find stock photos that would represent her more androgynous look. That said, Tommy is a master of disguise and often dressed as various characters so she could be anyone she wanted to be - masculine, feminine, or somewhere in between. Bluestocking Philippa York is a brilliant, goal-driven woman determined to make a positive difference in the world, yet frustrated by the societal and parental expectations put on her.

While I've only listened to this second in the "Wild Wynchesters" series book about the Wynchester family, I enjoyed it so much I am very tempted to read the others. I generally don't read hetero romances because we are surrounded by that everywhere, but this family is so appealing that I would love to spend more time with them.

I fell in love with Moira Quirk when I listened to her narration of Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir and after this I'm head over heels. She's truly outstanding! While I didn't read the book before listening, I can tell you that Quirk is one of those narrators that elevates the quality of a work. There are many characters in this book and she captures each of them beautifully.

This is fun and interesting, and very woman centric. I love how author Erica Ridley maneuvered her way through the mystery they are trying to solve as well as the developing romance. And the heat factor? Yes - it's up there. Really - it's impossible not to fall in love with Tommy Wynchester. I can't recommend this one highly enough!

A Diverting Adventure

Picture if Sherlock adopted several irregulars and they begin they begin solving cases as a family. The Perks of Loving a Wallflower has variations of well used and often loved tropes without backing down from the message of the importance of living authentically, and standing up for what you believe in. This is the 1st book in the series that I have read and I am charmed by the Winchester family.

Love this novel!

I can't wait for the next one! This series is wonderful. I love the characters, their interactions, and especially ther dialog. And I'm a fan of Moira Quirk's performance of the book. Each character has a distinct and unique voice, and I'm quite fallen for our Tommy!

It was better than I expected.

I was excited to read a book in the 1800 England period.
The excitement of the Winchester family the discovery of love and the excitement of adventure all wrapped up so well. I totally recommend this book .

A Bluestocking Life

Philippa’s mother and father are determined that she will marry a titled man and bring them further into high society. Phlippa has no desire to marry a man and rejects all suitors. Then a most rakish Baron enters her life and society takes notice. A delicious romp through the eyes of a wallflower and her love, Tommy. Great narration.

Delightful queer romance

It is a rare occurrence when a book ticks all the right boxes precisely at the time when I need it. The Perks of loving a wallflower is a delightful pick-me-up romance full with wit and so refreshing. Many tropes are subverted and the yearning is palpable. As a non-binary person, I found the discussions on gender were dealt with with a lot of finesse. Sometimes, it can feel like "here is an educational blog post on gender identity inserted right in the middle of your fiction" and it tends to throw me off the narrative. But here, it was really done masterfully. Also the characters are so hilarious, I cackled very often. A very satisfying read.

The only drawback is the cover. Tommy actually never wears a dress in the book. I don't know what happened there.

Didn’t live up to the hype

The narration and the premise was good but the story itself was slow and predictable
