KICKASS MYSTERY SET

Great crimes, great complicated relationships, funny and unusual characters, hard to figure out happenings, dysfunctional families, precinct high jinks, serial killers, human trafficking, drugs, psychos, rock stars, foodie TV, - this has got everything. Lots of humor, lots of unexpected twists and turns. I even teared up. Some stuff gets resolved in one book, some stuff takes the whole series and then some. Tremendous narration with well defined and unusual characters. It's really hard to stop once you start. Well written. Best deal on the internet.

Very addictive

MAKE SURE YOU GET ALL 3 BUNDLES!!!!!
DON'T BUY THE BOOKS INDIVIDUALLY, GET THE 3 BUNDLES AND SAVE CREDITS AND LONGER LISTENING TIME.

Be ready to sneak a listen here and a listen there if you can't listen to the whole series at once. Because this story is going to grab you by you by the heart and not let go.
I cried when I finished it. I'm praying there will be more Marco and Payton to come.
It's truly been a long time since I've enjoyed a book this much.

FINALLY!!!

I'm so thrilled to see this in a collection. These characters have become such good friends. The mysteries are great. Some cliff hang from story to story. Some are complete within a given book. They are very contemporary. I like that there are all different ages of characters. Stories that appeal to various age groups - not just all twenty somethings or girls looking for dates. It's also not just about blood and gore. The writer somehow manages to take the crimes and examine them from a cultural point of view. Why we do what we do? You think about what happens after you stop listening. And the relationships between characters are very mature and very life like. Everybody's got flaws. Thank God! I'm looking forward to listening with my family this summer when we travel and around the pool and giving as a gift to friends and family. Lots of humor. Lots.

Enjoyed the story, but...

Enjoyed the story, didn't enjoy the robotic voice that read one of the characters. However, I did get "used" to it and will purchase the next book series.
OAN...I don't enjoy having to enter a review of at least 15 words and although it says that a headline is optional, my review will not be accepted unless I enter a headline.

Captivating!

At first, although I was enjoying the first book, the narrator almost ruined it for me. But I stuck with it. And very glad I did!! The box set was an ingenious way to introduce me to this writer. I loved every minute of it and never wanted to stop!

Excruciating narration!

The narrator's voice was excruciating. Her character voices were horrible. The inflections she uses do not match up to the subject matter. I had to turn off the book after 15 minutrs. I couldn't take her performance anymore. Total waste of my money!

Worst narrator ever. Could not listen to the book

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I listened to one and one half books
before the painfully awful narration caused me to stop. Stories were decent, but the narrator ruined them.

What do you think your next listen will be?

NA

Would you be willing to try another one of Kelley Hazen Storyteller Productions’s performances?

No.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Peyton Brooks' Mysteries Box Set?

NA

Any additional comments?

Not worth the use of a credit. I rarely write reviews, but felt the need to warn other listeners about the narrator of this series.

A bit dark

M. L. Hamilton's Peyton Brooks series is well written with well developed characters. However, the plot of these books are a bit to dark for me. However, that won't prevent me from recommending it as entertaining to others who enjoy police procedural type mysteries of a darker nature.

The reader distracts from the story.

The reader’s voice as narrator was difficult to listen to. She was also inconsistent in her voices for different characters. Although I ordered the box set for a long road trip, I couldn’t tolerate more than the first four chapters of the first book.

good story line. narrator not so much.

Good detective stories and the whole series ties together nicely with decent character development. The last one is a bit soppy towards the end though. Kelly Hazen isn't a great narrator and her voice grates, but you get used to it.

Very Enjoyable

Unlike some, I thought that the narrator was excellent and I loved the cases that they were involved in. The other characters were great as well and made me smile. I was sorry when it came to the end, I tried another book next but had to come back to the next set about Peyton and DiAngelo.

Uneven

other reviews have commented on the narrator and to an extent I agree with the negative comments. After an hour of listening to the first story I nearly gave up. Everything was read in a monotone, at one point I actually checked to make sure I hadn't my screen reader on. It was boring and at times difficult to work out who was speaking however I had a lot of work to get through so I just kept the earphones on and had it playing in the background while I finished my DIY.
About book 3 I noticed a difference in the reading, I could make out inflections and different voices most of the time.
The stories were good, well written and reasonably correct procedurally. The value is fantastic, 73 listening hours of well written stories. I'd like to go on and listen to the the FBI stories but I don't think I could listen to the narrator so soon after this multipack.
To the narrator... I'm sorry for being so harsh, I don't know if this was your first time narrating as it did come across as quite stilted but thank you for narrating these stories, they helped me redecorate my home.
