Threadbare has been kidnapped by pirates!

But this is just the first step in the plan of the malevolent and mysterious puppeteer who's manipulated the pirates into bear-nappery. Which was supposed to be a proper princess kidnapping, but things went a bit sideways.

To uncover this strange mastermind's plan and properly thwart it, Threadbare must play along, keep his friends alive while they attempt to rescue him, make new friends, and help the old ones during this dangerous journey to parts unknown, all to confront the deadly and devious beastkin known only as the Phantom of the Lop Ear…

Bearring in mind

Nicely done with a bit of a twist towards the end. I'm satisfied with this book. A bit better than the last.

Weakest in the series but has its moments

Inconsistent narration and weaker writing compared to earlier books, but still a fun book to listen to. Not one that stands as well on its own, you definitely would want to be familiar with the other books set in the universe to really be able to enjoy it.

Woke Nonsense & Sensibilities

I read fantasy and sci-fi to escape modern idiocracy. Imagine my profound disappointment at the big reveal at the end of the book. Okay if you’re a gender studies major, but for me it was unnecessary woke nonsense and was completely off-putting. Not sure why some authors think their fantasy world has to mimic the stupidity of ours, but there it is, it’s theirs so travel it if you are of like mind. If you’re into this stufff you’ll probably like this story, but if you’re like me and want good fantasy without childish social commentary you’ll spend your money and time in search of better stories.

Serious threads

the main character in this series sees a pretty distinct change in their outlook due to what happens in the book. it was a good choice by the author, and an organic change for the character.

Good series it’s worth it

I have few thoughts on some parts of the book in some of its changes but still a good series.
