Publisher's Summary

America is a country with deep-seated roots of faith planted by pilgrims seeking religious independence. It was these men and women who paved the way for a free nation under God in this promised land - but what if those early voyagers were brought here for a much greater purpose? What if their arrival in this new land heralded the fulfillment of ancient prophecy: laying the foundation of a country that would allow for the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the beginning of the gathering of scattered Israel?

In The Pilgrim Hypothesis listeners are presented with a gripping new investigation by best-selling author and historian Timothy Ballard as he uncovers what the early colonists - a people who believed themselves to be the “New Israel” - may have known about their role in the restoration of the gospel.

Delve into a complex history bridging the centuries and spanning the globe, as each clue leads to one compelling conclusion: history and scripture may be far more intertwined than you’ve ever realized.

My Favorite Book of Tim's

I have read all of Tim's books over the years. I love how he dives deep into his research to support his hypothesis. He does not ignore or shy away from the hard questions. Reading the Pilgrim Hypothesis was a great experience and quite honestly my favorite book of his so far. I am so thankful for the faith and sacrifice of the Puritans, Pilgrims and Columbus. I see the Lord's hand over several centuries as he worked to prepare the people, their hearts and made a way for them to arrive in a Promised Land. He did all of this because of his infinite love and his desire for us to make covenants with him. God is definitely in the details! If you haven't read The Washington Hypothesis or The Lincoln Hypothesis, you will want to after reading The Pilgrim Hypothesis. Thank you Tim for another great book.

Mind blown.

President Benson taught that the Book of Mormon was the instrument designed by God to facilitate the gathering of Israel. I've always believed that, but I never understood it until reading this book. This has forever changed the way I think about American History and the way I think about the gathering of Israel.

Not on audible

The next time I buy a Tim Ballard book, I will buy a hard copy. He refers to items like a tour of the Adam’s house, that can only be seen in a paper book.

Loved it, loved it!!!

What an amazing perspective and point of view on history. The author was able to bring all the stories and history and present it a clear concise way to talk about the covenant that our forefathers and pilgrims made about coming to America and being led to this promised land.
Covenants matter, and it is clear that these early pioneers were guided by for a divine purpose.

What about John Hancock?

Mentioned are Thomas Jefferson and John Adams as the most important people in the Revolution... However John Hancock is not mrntioned. He was the purse for the revolution, Jefferson was the pen, and John Adams was the brains. I don't think you can talk about the greats of the Founding Fathers without mentioning all 3 of these words inspired men, Sons of Liberty, and Sons of Freedom.

Thank you due the details an free highlight ghts of this great history. THANK YOU for telling the story of the restoration and the covenant of freedom.

This book ignites your compassion for people like Christopher Columbus. It helps to turn your hearts and stir up admiration for the grit, persistence, and faith of America’s pilgrims, and it helps to honor and learn from America’s founding fathers and their wives. Breathtaking! An ABSOLUTE MUST READ!

I thought I knew quite a bit about our founding fathers - particularly Adams and Jefferson. I thought I knew an average amount about the pilgrims. John and Priscilla Alden are my ancestors.
I thought I knew a little about Columbus and his divine calling to come to this continent.

I now realize I knew next to nothing! Tim Ballard has opened my eyes to the stunning relationships between our forefathers and founders and the latter day gathering of Israel.

I now have so much more reverence for those men and women and an even greater testimony of the divine truths in the Book of Mormon.

Thank you, Tim Ballard - for your courageous work of rescuing lost and abused children and for teaching the rest of us so much more about the gospel of Jesus Christ!
