Publisher's Summary

Have you ever fake dated your bodyguard? I don't recommend it.

Especially if he's anything like Erik Wilder: Former football player, world class know-it-all and unapologetic grump.

To be clear, I didn't want a bodyguard (hence the fake dating idea). Most days, I can’t figure out why he wants the job either. We drive each other insane, probably because we’re as opposite as two people can be.

He’s suspicious, never talks about his past and has the comfort skills of a cactus. I’m a happily-ever-after kind of girl who knows exactly what she wants out of life.

Erik’s words might say that the lines have to stay firm between us, but those dark eyes of his? They tell another story when he looks at me.

He’s just as stubborn as I am, but when our fake dating plan starts to feel a lot more real, it's only a matter of time before his professional walls come crashing down.

I just have to hope my heart doesn't get buried in the rubble.

Every time I read a book by Karla Sorensen I love it more then the last. Each book just keeps on getting better.

The Plan is a stand alone, however you might see characters from the Washing Wolves Series (especially The Bombshell Effect) & references to characters in the Ward Sisters Series. I love how this is a totally seporate stand alone, but you still have this amazing shared world to immerse yourself in.

We first met Lydia in The Lie, her sister's amazing story, and I loved how much more depth there is to her as a character vs. the initial meeting in the previous book. Erik is your perfect brooding protective alpha male. This man can say so much with a grunt & I love it! These two seem like they would never work together, and yet they are the perfect paring of opposites.

This is such a great slow burn, age gap romance with a hit of forbidden thrown in. I cannot wait to see what story she comes up with next.

The narrators did such a great job with this audiobook.

Unexpected, but expected love story

We got tropes on tropes with this story.
Bodyguard
Slow burn
Close proximity
Age gap
Fake relationship
I’ll even say it’s a sports romance.

Here’s the thing, I’m not a fan of a lot of age gaps, this one was about 8 or so years, but Lydia is wise beyond her years, while Erik is still flailing from a life he had to walk away from.

And while we had all those tropes going on, Karla writes moments that just stick with you. Like, I found myself holding my breath in anticipation or maybe anxiety? Who knows! I just knew once it was all said and done, I felt relief.

This isn’t a heavy book though. It’s paced well and has some sweet moments. The hero is grumpy. The heroine is the sunshine.

Teddy Hamilton and Stella Hunter are a great pairing. Teddy absolutely nailed it with some of his scenes.

Overall a very good audiobook for me.

Good story and great narration! Grumpy, protective guy / smart, sunshine girl is my favorite romance trope.

One of my favorites!!

WOW!!! Lydia and Erik.....I think they may have taken the top spot as my favorite Karla Sorensen couple. Don't get me wrong - each couple she writes, I absolutely LOVE. They all have magic between them. But there was just something different about Lydia and Erik that I couldn't get enough of. These two just oozed chemistry right from the beginning and I was hooked! Seriously, the way Lydia would tease Erik just to mess with him - it just drove that sexual tension and attraction between them off the charts, until it finally snapped - and then they couldn't hold it back anymore.

Of course, I also loved the family aspect of the story, for both Lydia and Erik. I always love seeing characters that I've loved from earlier books in the Washington Wolves world (I mean, Dominic being the tough big brother - that scene had me cracking up!)...........and the Wilder family, GIMME MORE!! I loved them all and hope she decides to write more about them because they are something special too.

Truly, this is one of my favorite books from Karla.......I really can't pinpoint exactly why, but I think if you've read this world from start to finish, you'll probably understand why. And if you haven't read anything yet from this world, you are truly missing out on some of the most incredible stories that you won't ever forget. Plus, listening to Teddy Hamilton and Stella Hunter bring Erik and Lydia to life - ahh! It made me love this story even more!

Cute

I have to be honest, this story did not grab my attention as most others by this author. Don’t get me wrong, it was a good story, just not great. The chemistry between the characters just wasn’t there for me. I kept at it because of the narration team.

Loved it!

I dove straight into The Plan after finishing The Lie and once again Karla Sorensen has written a sweet love story with complicated characters who struggle to find love with their past haunting their steps. I loved every minute of this audiobook. Teddy Hamilton and Stella Hunter gave so much to their performances that you feel the character’s emotions deep within. While Lydia is struggling more with the repercussions of her car accident, Erik has pain hidden much deeper behind his walls.

Lydia is struggling to find her way back to a normal life after a photog runs her off the road. She won’t go out, and is losing endorsement deals as she fails to make appearances. Her parents push an unlikely bodyguard on her in the hopes that with Erik, a former Wolves football player, by her side, she will let go of her fear. They butt heads immediately, but as the days and weeks pass, they become friends and the walls start to come down. Will they give into each other or run away to keep their secrets hidden?

Lydia’s ability to see beyond Erik’s gruffness and to look him in the eye when things are tough was my favorite part of this story. He needed someone who wasn’t afraid of him and didn’t let him push them around. When they go back to his family’s home, that’s when things really got interesting and we found out the depths of Erik’s sad story. I loved the family intervention. While this book tackles some angst, it also has many smile worthy moments to balance things out. You won’t be able to help cheering Lydia on as she shows Erik up during flag football. I really enjoyed both of these books and look forward to reading more in Karla Sorensen’s backlist soon!

Lame

So ridiculous. Not a a bit of this was believable. I know romance is a fantasy but this was silly. And please the reason that he gave up football and love was such a joke it was irritating. But the narrators were great. That’s the only reason it wasn’t a one star.

Not your Formula Romance

The story was unique compared to other sports romance. Enjoyed readers performance. A must listen.

A great addition!

I love the Washington Wolves. It is such a comfort series, and I’m so glad Karla is still writing in this world. I really enjoyed this book and think it’s a great addition to a series that has my whole heart. The bond between Faith and Lydia, the amazingness of Luke and Allie as parents, glimpses of other longtime faves, the chemistry between Lydia and Erik, and his huge crazy family were all delightful. I will say this book felt pretty different from The Lie in terms of pacing and speed & progression of the relationship, which I did struggle with somewhat, but The Plan is still definitely a solid 4-star read for me!

Lovely story

I love the Seattle background. No questionable facts other than it’s a 5 1/2 drive from Seattle to Sisters.
