Story
Ataegina was an isolated world of medieval castles, varied cultures, and conquests, vibrant until the demons rose and spread relentless destruction. Swarms of lethal creatures with black husks, murderous claws, barbed tails, and dreaded “tooth-tongues” raged through the lowlands, killing 90 percent of the planet’s population. Terrified survivors fled to hidden mountain keeps where they eke out a meager existence. When a trio of young warriors discovers a new weapon, they see a chance to end this curse. Fantastic
If the movie is half as good as this storyline then it will be a great movie.
(Possible Spoilers) As usual the Predators are her on a hunt and he has found his targets, group of black ops military personel that have no idea what they are about to face. McKenna, a sniper, is the only one survives and when located, he is taken back interrogated and deemed unstable. Good way to get him make his story unbelievable expecially when more than one government entity as well as private have placed all their monies on the location and eventual study of any and all alien artifacts. They will not allow anyone to get in the way, especially when one is located and now also a prisoner...the enevitable happens, he escapes and begins looking for his weapons and anyone that gets in his way...well the enevitable happens. And McKenna, bound for a VA psych ward with other inmates happens to get in the way. Yeah it will get interesting.
Enter another, bigger, stronger and far more dangerous, predator into the mix and you have hell unleased in a small town on Halloween night.
There are several other players that come into it as they try to stay ahead of the first predator and they too make the storyline.
It is well worth listening to it simply because there is more explanition about the Predators as their thoughts are also shared, something that hollywood has never gotten correctly unless they change the script and even then it's not always that great.
If however you have seen it are intend to see it, you should also listen/read this as well just for the background info on both predators and the players involved.
This is the sequeal to the first book; Predators-Hunter and Hunted.
That too is a great read/audio because it too gives a bit more info on the Predators...damn good storyline.

Very Hollywood and filled with plot holes
This book will remind you of Hollywood movies with its emphasis on attractive main characters, excessive explosions, and cliche plot points. Unfortunately this book is filled with plot holes and lets you know that the focus was not on the story itself of the world building, but instead its purpose is to ensure that as much violence occurs as possible.

Better than the actual film!
The author and the narrator did an amazing job trying to turn the silly 2018 Predator film into a proper story. There are some clashes in tone because of the script and the silly dialogue but the author managed to flesh out the main cast and even side characters more than the film did.
If you want a proper Predator story tho I recommend the prequel which is more in tone fir a Predator story.

The Predator has met his match!
I really enjoyed listening to this book. It stayed close enough to the movie to make it extremely entertaining. Wish I'd have "read" the book before seeing the movie. Mr Golden and Mr Morris did a good job of bringing the movie from the screen to become a movie for my ears. Mr. Cronin did an excellent job of portraying the characters and making them believable.

Wish I hadn't seen the film
This makes a few important changes from the film. No ridiculous suit. No predator that's trying to save us (whilst also killing everything in its path! ).
Frankly, this is a better story. But, unfortunately, if you've seen the film already then you just can't experience it in the same way. The 'surprises' aren't surprises. Still a good book. But, best to watch the film afterwards.

A better final act than the movie....
Im looking forward to watching the movie again. I think Black messed the final act up in comparison to the book, especially the death of a couple of characters and the final scenes. In fact overall the book just flowed better and I enjoyed it more than the movie since it fleshed out the characters, which of course a book can do easier than a film. The film could have had an extra 15 minutes added to fill in some glaring blanks. The constant references to dogs made more sense here. In the film it made no sense as it was missing key scenes. Overall its not as bad as some critics and fans have said and I enjoyed the listen but id say its not for everyone.

I think the franchise needs an upgrade
although there are upteen grizzly deaths i have the feeling this is aimed toward a younger audience with the introduction of space dogs that seem bizzarly out of place for a predator story in my humble opinion. I would of been more intrigued with a grittier storyline but I excepted the more A- teamy vibe of the crew helping Mckenna on his mission to fight the big beastly upgraded predator and the shenanagins that ensue. Overall an ok listen and the reason i have given THE PREDATOR...3 stars.
