Story
What do you do when the world falls? For Zebediah Pratt - or “Zee” to his friends - the answer is easy; he goes back to the family farm to support his father. By pooling resources with their neighbors in the countryside, they’re able to stand up to the lone gunmen who are on the lookout for easy prey in a world where the rule of law no longer applies. It looks like they will be able to make it. But when the dregs of society come leaking out to the countryside from the ruins of nearby Philadelphia, things change, and the Pratts realize something - they have to do more.

Story
More than two centuries after World War III poisoned the planet, the final bastion of humanity lives on massive airships circling the globe in search of a habitable area to call home. Aging and outdated, most of the ships plummeted back to Earth long ago. The only thing keeping the two surviving lifeboats in the sky are Hell Divers - men and women who risk their lives by skydiving to the surface to scavenge for parts the ships desperately need.

Story
It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

Story
In the 20th century Earth sent probes, transmissions, and welcoming messages to the stars. Unfortunately, someone noticed. The Galactics arrived with their battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined their vast Empire. Swearing allegiance to our distant alien overlords wasn't the only requirement for survival. We also had to have something of value to trade, something that neighboring planets would pay their hard-earned credits to buy. As most of the local worlds were too civilized to have a proper army, the only valuable service Earth could provide came in the form of soldiers....

Story
A nuclear EMP attack would shove the USA back 150 years. Death, chaos, and lawlessness would prevail.... Zack Johnson is no hero, but he does have some valuable prepper skills to help him survive. There is nothing like a nuclear apocalypse to help a man grow up and become a hero as he helps his family and friends survive. He is 2,000 miles from home; the grid and all modern transportation have failed. The country is degenerating into violence and dog-eat-dog scenarios. People are killing their neighbors for a scrap of moldy bread or a sip of water.

Publisher's Summary
Freedom isn’t free. Especially when The Company has a hold on your mind.
It was a normal Sunday morning at Teledyne Industries. Until the missiles started flying, and Joe Rinardi had 10 minutes to get out of the nuclear blast zone.
A Teledyne specialist, he was one of the best, and equally adept at escape and evasion as he was at killing obsidian agents. When the bombs started dropping, though, he was given one final mission that he had to complete: travel to Philadelphia and kill the obsidian managers that Teledyne ran out of missiles for. After that, he could be free.
But in a post-apocalyptic world, traveling across country is a little more challenging than just going to the nearest airport and hopping a jet from Portland to Philly. Rinardi will have to figure out how to arm himself and go across the continent in a terrifying new world. Cannibals, geno freaks, and the only specialist to ever beat him stand in his way.
He’s never failed to complete a mission in his career, though, and his freedom rides on the successful completion of this one. Can Rinardi overcome the obstacles in his path, or will he become just another casualty of this fallen world?

Hmmm, this book & the next one are good books. Absolutely enjoyed both. Unfortunately, the author has gone down the greedy road. This book is 1 credit or more than $20.00 & under 8 hours. The next book is 1 credit or more than $20.00 & under 8 hours. These 2 books should have been combined. I do have 1 major gripe. At the end of every chapter, the author writes a cheesy sentence that always includes “in this fallen world “. The reader usually slows & individually enunciates each word with a deeper voice, like....”In..This..Fallen..World....
If the author was in front of me I would probably throw my phone at him.

Amazing Series
Want Need Must Have MORE
I just finished book 8 and sadly, that is where the audible versions end. there are at least 5 more books.
I like how they are all intertwined throughout the cities, some overlap but not much.
I def have favorite carachters of the 8 I have listened to and hope they show up in the next books
Most dystopian books are about zombies or aliens but it was cool to listen to a book about a tech future

attention grabber from the beginning
this story grabbed my attention immediately and kept it the whole time. In other stories I usually drift off and my mind starts thinking about other stuff and then a few moments later I have to rewind a minute or two because I realized I had no clue what was going on. Not once during this story did I have to rewind due to mind wandering. great job to both Chris Kennedy and Mark Boyett
