The past has a way of catching up with you, even if you are immortal. I’ve spent thousands of years as the valet and companion to the powerful King of All Shifters. It has been my honor and duty to protect, serve, and advise him. I never intended to fall in love with him. My past is filled with death and bloodshed, but I never once regretted keeping Alarick safe. Some people are born lucky. Then there’s me, destined to be loved by the man who knows my darkest secret. My gift has followed me my entire life—the ability to see the threads of fate. I can see the red thread tying together two people destined to love one another. But my gift has another side to it. A darker side. I can also see a simple black thread tied to the fingers of those who aren’t aware of it, connecting them to the person destined to kill them. And when I look down at my own finger, I can see the red thread stretched over to Bishop King.

My whole life, I’ve been taught to despise shifters. So when I’m hired to track two escaped convicts, I’m suddenly thrust into the world I hate - or thought I did. Yet I’m inexplicably drawn to the alpha of the pack, whose land the convicts may be hiding on. He’s different than any shifter I've ever met - laidback and quick to laugh, caring, and protective. As secrets are revealed, I start to wonder if everything I’ve been raised to believe was a lie, though it may not matter, because it seems like someone wants us dead.

Publisher's Summary
Prince Bernd:
As Prince of the Bear Shifters, I knew the time would come for me to prove myself worthy of my crown. I expected my quest to be perilous. What I didn’t expect was for it to take me up into Espen Mountain, a place that’s brought me nothing but grief and terrible nightmares. Not only must I find the five magical ingredients, but I have to do so alongside Saer, a mysterious and charming shifter coyote summoned by the king to be my guide. But who is Saer, and why do I feel as if we’ve met before?
Saer:
Crushing on Prince Bernd from afar was one thing. Being given the responsibility of saving the prince and his kingdom was a whole other story. Banished from my kingdom by my own prince years ago, I never imagined I would be summoned to help Bernd. What could I possibly offer a prince? How was I supposed to save him? I was no one. A shifter with no place to call home. What I did know was that I would do everything in my power to help Bernd succeed on his quest. All I had to do was stop crushing on the guy, find the magical ingredients hidden up a dangerous mountain, and save his heart. What could go wrong?

A sweet paranormal royal romance!
This was a sweet royal, opposites attract romance.
It was nice seeing Jean and Alarick back to their matchmaking and setting out the most bizarre tasks.
Prince Bernd and Saer were delightfully sweet together and I adored Alarick's good natured meddling.
I absolutely can't wait to listen to Alarick's book next.
Greg Boudreaux performed a commendable audio delivery as well.

This is a pretty quick and fun listen with a little intrigue and some heavier emotions tossed in. It's a great story that keeps you guessing a bit and the narrator really does a great job. I would recommend going in order with this series. It's not necessarily necessary but you'll enjoy it more that way.

When a bear falls in love with a coyote
I really loved the first book one the series and I was eagerly awaiting for the next book so this couldn’t have come at any better time. So sweet!
Prince Bernd is immersed in a deep grief when his father the King passed away. He had an extremely good relationship with his dad and when his father passed away in an accident, he was there to witness the whole tragedy. So it hit him really hard. Saer has always been in love with the prince but he knows that it’s a hopeless case. When the high king commanded that he accompany Prince Bernd to go on a journey that will prove his entitlement to the kingdom, Saer knew he was in trouble. How to hide this love that’s been blossomed for a long time?
This was a bit more angsty than the first book but still it was very sweet and funny. I loved the secondary characters in the story especially the mother and the teenage sister. This was such an enjoyable audio. I really can’t wait for next book in the series. I want the high king’s story.

Tantalizing fantasy world of shifters and mates
This was such a great read. It was short, easy to read, and I just want more of this world and the series. I did not read the first book, but will be coming back to it. This had all the feels, fantasy, romance, sweetness, longing, heartache and so much more. The side characters were wonderful and the MC’s were just perfect. Saer and Bernd were made for each other and how they come together is both exciting and wonderful. The narration was done by Greg Bourdreaux, who i really enjoy and he did a great job on this. I am excited to read King Alaric’s and Jean’s story next!! Their story is going to be just as good I can feel it!!

Loved revisiting this wonderful world!
I loved revisiting the wonderful word that Charlie Cochet has created in her Paranormal Princes series.
The Prince and His Captivating Carpenter is the perfect blend of low angst, lots of sweet romance with a bit of spice to heat things up.
Bernd and Saer are wonderful are wonderful together and I loved going on their quest with them.
Greg Boudreaux does an amazing job, as always, of bringing these characters to life. What a delight it was to listen to this story.

5 Stars!
The Prince and His Captivating Carpenter is book 2 in the Paranormal Princes series and technically it can be read as a standalone, although I really suggest reading, or better yet, listening to book 1 first to get a better understanding of the series. Plus, we meet King Alarick and his valet, Jean, there, and they're a hoot, so you don't want to miss out on that.
Prince Bernd is lost in his grief after losing his father and between that and fear, he hasn't been really living. When King Alarick gives him a quest that will save his heart and pairs him with a coyote shifter, he's not quite sure what to think but is obligated to agree to the challenge. Saer was perfect for him, sweet and resourceful, he helps Bernd see that there's more to life than his loss and face some hard truths about his ambassadors.
This was the only book I hadn't read prior to listening to it and I loved it! While these are novellas/short audiobooks, they're still fun, fast-paced, and fully developed with an engaging plotline and captivating characters. Greg Boudreaux is amazing, from his voices to his flawless performance, you simply can't go wrong with him. Very recommendable!

A wonderful fairytale!
As a huge fan of Charlie Cochet, I am used to how expertly she builds worlds and creates complex page-turner plots full of romance and action. This series is another perfect example of it, with this sweet fairytale with royals and shifters in an interesting plot full of action and danger in the form of a quest while a prince and a carpenter found each other. Mr Boudreaux made an amazing performance, imbued with all the emotions and romance the author wrote. A great narration for an amazing book. WOW!

Great story and narrator
This is book #2 in the Paranormal Princes series. I read this series backwards - Book 3 then 2 then 1 (don’t ask lol) and I was able to follow along fine and enjoy them fully. However, I recommend reading them in order as intended because there is a storyline threaded through the background of the three books even though each individual book has a different couple and it’s own HEA. Prince Bernd and Saer are terrific together in this one, and while the story has romance, it also has some angst. Greg Boudreaux does an excellent job as usual. He was spot on with his voicing of the two MCs. I highly recommend this whole series.

Super fan
I really enjoyed this story. As I never read or listened to the first of the trilogy, I can say with honesty that you can listen to this without listening to the first, though I’m not sure why anyone would. I’m now aching to get the first and start all over.
Charlie Cochet is a favourite author of mine. She creates such fun and interesting stories and this one is one and the same. It’s so unique in its story of shifters, I’ve never heard of a shifter king and princes story and I absolutely adored this concept. The characters were unique and funny, the plot exciting and mysterious. I’m looking forward to more from this series!
I’m really excited for more from Greg every time I see he’s done another narrative I HAVE to get it. I might be a little obsessed with his work. He’s a talented man, always putting passion and magic into the stories he works on. Like a great narrator, Greg brings life to his characters in a way that a simply average or good narrator cannot. He keeps the listener engaged and excited for more, not allowing for any monotonous voice to bleed the story of its excitement.
A great story can be ruined by a average or poor narration. A good story can be made better by a great narration. And a great story becomes a world of adventure and excitement when presented by a Fantastic narrator.

Delightfully Heartwarming and Entertaining
This is the second book in this series, and while the two main characters find their HEA, there is a storyline in the background that continues from book one. It is because of this, I wouldn't recommend reading this as a stand alone. 🐻 🪚 🐿
Prince Bernd has been mourning the loss of his father for quite a while. He’s shut himself off from everything. When the time comes for his quest, he finds his companion/guide for the trip isn’t a bear shifter, or even magical, but we will learn just how important Saer will become to him by the end of their dangerous journey. 🐻 🪚 🐿
This story is laced with humor, sadness, love, and happiness. It is well written and has a kingdom full of wonderful characters. I loved Bernd and Saer. Their ship name is either Baer or Saend. I oddly find those funny. Anyways....this story was delightful, and I found myself grinning several times.
Greg Boudreaux continues to do a wonderful job bringing this series to life. His voices for our couple were perfection. 🐻 🪚 🐿

Love this narrator
This was a sweet shifter story with a matchmaking King. The tale between a bear prince shifter and a coyote shifter has an almost fairy tale quality with a royal quest, mysterious dreams, and a creepy landscape.
I'd read this as a book but the narrator was excellent and added another dimension to the story.
Very sweet.

Great addition
Another great addition to the series by Charlie Cochet. Very interesting and enjoyable story. Greg Boudreaux did a super job with the narration.
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Amazing
First, I have to say I adored this book. Second, I now adore it more with the narration. The narrator brought Bernd and Saer to life in a whole new way and it is absolutely enthralling. You will find yourself completely immersed in the story and ignore everything else going on. So wonderful.

Captivatiing indeed!
Cochet does another brilliant job in the Paranormal Princes series! Bernd and Saer are absolutely lovely. Their progression throughout the book kept me absolutely engaged and even evoked emotions. Boudreaux once again lends his voice to bring these characters to life in a memorable way.

Another sweet fairytale romance!
Since Bernd, Prince of the Bear Shifters, lost his father, the crown and the loss have weighed heavily on him. He never leaves the castle and he relies on his ambassadors to relay his wishes to the kingdom. His only solace is the beautiful furniture created by the Royal Carpenter. When Alarick, King of All Shifters, tasks Bernd with his princely quest, he teams him up with a banished coyote shifter named Saer, a seeming nobody. As part of the quest, Bernd must return to the place of his father’s death and confront his fears and see there is more to live for than loss. Once again, this is a fairly straightforward fairytale romance requiring Bernd to redeem himself through personal growth. Both Bernd and Saer are decent men and we want them to succeed and fall for each other. As with book 1, the story is bookended by Alarick and his protector / advisor Jean and their story in book 3 is foreshadowed by a cliffhanger, which will annoy some readers. Audio narrator Greg Boudreaux does another great job.
