Publisher's Summary
Scott Grant has a bustling family practice in the small Oregon community of Thunder Point. The town and its people have embraced the widowed doctor and father of two, his children are thriving, and Scott knows it's time to move on from his loss. But as the town's only doctor, the dating pool is limited. That is, until a stunning physician's assistant applies for a job at his clinic.
Peyton Lacoumette considers herself entirely out of the dating scene. She's already been burned by a man with kids, and she's come to Thunder Point determined not to repeat past mistakes. When Scott offers her a job, at a much lower salary than she's used to, Peyton is surprisingly eager to accept… at least for now. She's willing to stay for a three-month trial period while she explores other options. Scott and Peyton know the arrangement is temporary - it isn't enough time to build a real relationship, never mind anything with lasting commitment. But love can blossom faster than you think when the timing is right, and this short visit just might hold the promise of forever.

First of Robyn Carr's books that I couldn't finish
The other Thunder Point books were delightful but this one felt like the author was working against a deadline. She made the lead character seem self-centered and unlikable. As I listened to the first hour of the book, I kept wondering if Robyn was depressed or angry at the world as she wrote this. She had all of the typical Thunder Point material at her disposal and could have made this one as delightfully light and easy listening as the others in the series. I stopped listening about half-way through--felt like a waste of time.
I am not giving up on Robyn Carr. I will wait for the next one and buy it.

Almost NOT Worth the Credit
I was disappointed with the first 7 Chapters of this book. It was nothing but "woe is me. I just got out of a bad relationship" from Payton, the P.A., who according to the info blurb, is supposed to be falling for the local doc. This doesn't even start, with a BAD pickup line :), until Chapter 8. From then on things happen according to what we are expecting and it becomes a nice story.

As Promised...Robyn does it again.
Would you consider the audio edition of The Promise to be better than the print version?
I like both, I buy the book and listen to on line
Who was your favorite character and why?
I am going to have to say Scott, Another hero in Thunder Point,
Have you listened to any of Therese Plummer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Therese Plummer's performance are top rate, she can do men's voices, children s, of course all the women's. She's one of the best.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I love The Promise, it was all she it would be, I cannot not wait for the next book.. I started listening to Robyn book with Thunder Point, and will be so saddened when they end. I want to live in this make believe town. In my mind when I listen or read, I live in Thunder Point and love everyone who move there.
Any additional comments?
Once again another great book from Robyn Karr, it is magnificent, great to listen to.. Now waiting on the next one. Scott and Payton have two things in common. the love of medicine. They fell in love, and it was a sweet sensual love. Kudo's to Robyn for writing this and introducing us to Scott and to others along the way. It's worth the credit, buy it if you must but read the Promise, it's wonderful.

Her only weak effort I've seen
If you are familiar with Carr's work, this fits in. It is a sweet love story with likable characters. It is the only book of Carr's that was a love story, only, with no plot. It is still worth the purchase just to see the town and characters progress.

Repetitive...Couldn’t finish this one
This felt like a bunch of repetitive words to fill space. She wasn’t really saying anything new, just having the same argument with herself over, and over and over again. I was slightly annoyed by the female character.

Disappointed
Would you try another book from Robyn Carr and/or Therese Plummer?
I will try one more but I do wish there was a different narrator. Her male voices are horrible and sound so much alike.
Would you be willing to try another book from Robyn Carr? Why or why not?
I'll try one more from this series, but it will have to be much better.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Her voices were awful and she had a drawn out lilt like she was reading bad poetry. Her tone of voice was pleasant but the way she read and the voices were off-putting.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
No. No plot, no suspense at all. Just a simple romance.
Any additional comments?
The lead woman character was very unlikeable and spent the first 5 or 6 chapters bemoaning the loss of her former lover. Everything was about her past relationship and it got really old.

4 The Promise Stars
Ok this might be a by-product of beige reading a series…I thought our Heroine was protesting toooooooooo much.
I liked the storyline just fine don’t get me wrong, I am a fan of Doc Scott. And I enjoyed getting to know his story.
But I think Peyton just keep protesting to much you know that famous saying. “methinks the lady doth protest too much” Well this is what I was thinking the whole time with her.
I did like that Peyton stepped up when she was asked.
I lovvvvvvvved the narration! As you can probably guess from all my gushing about Therese Plummer she is just fantastic, what can I say I know what I like.
*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Surprisingly enjoyable
I really enjoyed getting to know the characters in this book. They seemed varied and 3 dimensional, although at times Scott felt a little too perfect. The story almost didn't have enough drama, but there was enough to keep my interest. Like Scott, the town sometimes also seemed a bit too perfect, however this was probably part of why I enjoyed the book! Things don't always go perfectly, however, and it was good to see how Peyton dealt with the past and how events unfolded.
Occasionally I was unsure of who was speaking, perhaps clearer narration would have prevented this, however it wasn't too common. Apart from that the narration was good and unobtrusive.

I love Robyn Carr and Therese Plummer. This story is a nice addition to the Thunder Point series however I found it was lacking compared to the other stories.
