Our unconscious thought patterns determine our relationships, our spiritual life, and our connection to God to a much greater extent than we know. That’s an alarming thought, because the subconscious mind is a mysterious realm that is really difficult to access and influence...right? No. It’s really not! And it’s the most urgent and impactful thing we can do. This book will show you how.

Story
We're in the middle of an epidemic of stress and anxiety. Average life expectancy in the US is down. At work, less than sixteen percent of us are fully engaged. In many high-stress jobs such as distribution centers, emergency room nursing, and teaching, incidences of PTSD are higher than veterans returning from war zones. We are getting something terribly wrong. Our workplaces fail utterly to provide for or capitalize on one of our most basic human needs: our need for love.

When we’re moving at 115 MPH, we rarely see the wall coming. But it comes for all of us and when it does, we grasp for lessons, for meaning, for purpose. Each moment (good or bad) and each win or loss, provides us an opportunity to learn, and if we choose to take it, that opportunity can change our lives - and the world - for the better. The human spirit craves connection. Authenticity. Belonging. Touch. Gratitude. Purpose. We need to make our interactions count.

Conventional wisdom holds that if we work hard we will be more successful, and if we are more successful, then we’ll be happy. If we can just find that great job, win that next promotion, lose those five pounds, happiness will follow. But recent discoveries in the field of positive psychology have shown that this formula is actually backward: Happiness fuels success, not the other way around. When we are positive, our brains become more engaged, creative, motivated, energetic, resilient, and productive at work.

Because ketosis offers a variety of health benefits, including weight loss, reduced risk of illness, and enhanced energy, Dr. Gundry believed his patients’ efforts to adhere to the challenging regimen was worthwhile. That is, until his research uncovered a shocking truth: We’ve gotten keto all wrong.

Publisher's Summary
The greatest joy and fulfillment are within your reach, but they require an enduring promise to the one - someone you might not expect. It's not your boss, spouse, children, or others. No, the ultimate commitment is the promise you make to yourself to discover your purpose and gifts and share them with the world.
Everyone has been hurt or negatively impacted by broken promises. Promise-breaking and a lack of integrity are symptomatic of the most chronic illness faced by society today. Even though many leadership courses and ethics programs tout integrity as a buzzword, few of us are really assessing our own values unless someone calls us out on a discrepancy.
But even when others don't catch on to the façade, when our values aren't in alignment with our actions and when our actions aren't consonant with our gifts and passions, we're left feeling isolated, drained, and depressed. No recognition or acceptance from others can fill the void in the same way as when you keep a promise to yourself and actually follow through on it.
The promise is the highest level of engagement we commit to in any experience. The promise is greater than a goal; it's a sacred commitment. It's complete dedication to identifying your signature moves - the unique talents you've been given - that, when developed and used to better others lives, make you a legendary leader.
What choices do you make when no one is watching?
How do you approach a decision that requires you to let either yourself or someone else down?
How do you stay committed to your values, even when the less-rewarding path is more convenient?
A renowned speaker and performer who has helped audiences worldwide appreciate what accountability really means, Jason Hewlett shares his program for self-discovery and taking ownership of your gifts in The Promise to the One. His unique three-step method "identify, clarify, magnify" will enable you to pinpoint your strengths, shape them into an identity to which you commit, and develop them so that they can improve others’ lives as well as your own.
Filled with Jason’s signature wit and vulnerability as well as actionable exercises, this book will help you refine your character and reach your dreams through the power of kept promises.
Start your journey to living a life of promise-making and keeping…beginning with The Promise to the One.

This book has reframed everything from interactions with my wife and kids to the garbage on the floor on my truck. Inspiring. Your conscience in your ears.
The Promise to the One is an excellent and inspiring book on the fundamentals of character and integrity. It's an applied book - taught primarily though stories and anecdotes, with questions and opportunities to apply the principles to your life.
The author (also the narrator) is an accomplished speaker and former entertainer. I've been fortunate to see his live keynote before, and thus was interested in this book.
You will hear stories of an artist walking away from a multi-million dollar contract in Vegas because it would violate his personal ethics; the harrowing experience of being shot at in a Chinook helicopter while giving his time to perform for troops overseas; and the touching simplicity of quiet acts of service for a neighbor, like shoveling snow when no one will notice.
Most of all, you will learn to look within yourself at what your personal brand is - your integrity - what Hewlett calls the Promise. I honestly felt like it was the voice of Jiminy Cricket in my mind - "and always let your conscience be your guide."
An entertaining, inspiring, and spiritually edifying read/listen. Highly recommend!

Excellent book and performance!
Just finished listening to this book and loved it. I've seen Jason perform live and he is on the top of his game as he reads and performs in this Audible book. The book teaches some very powerful leadership principles and Jason uses personal examples and stories to help us understand and apply them. He gets vulnerable sometimes, which makes it even more engaging.
He also breaks into performing many times during his reading, which I absolutely loved! I laughed out loud more than a few times!
A great book. I highly recommend it. I also watched the first chapter in its video book option. It is the best way to enjoy his masterpiece by seeing him perform it! A great idea for a long flight to learn and be entertained.

Time-Proven Principles with the Power of Promise
Jason does a masterful job of sharing time-proven principles with refreshing application. As we learn to keep the promise to the one we are with 24/7, we can learn to accomplish what we desire. Applying the concepts shared in The Promise to the One can change you and bring promise to your life. Even though this book comes out at a time of isolation due to a pandemic, we can promise to continue to care for others around us in new ways. Jason, thank you for sharing your promise to the one.
