Betrayed by an FBI agent while in protective custody, MacKenzie Gunthrie escapes a crime lord and is left hiding from the authorities and her enemies. She finds solace in the peaceful mountain town of Crested Butte, Colorado. With help from a longtime camp friend and a new identity, she's starting to feel safe. The only problem is the overconfident and much too good-looking Isaac Turnbow. Protecting her identity has become second nature, but Isaac poses a threat to her heart.

Isaac Turnbow has an undeniable need to convince MacKenzie he's someone she can trust and kiss, but when well-armed men arrive to disturb their budding relationship, he must prove to her and himself that he can protect her.

ummm the h continually dated a serial rapist

so. i hate this story. the H is amazing but the h continually dates a serial rapist. a man she knows, was told by her best friend, raped her best friend, fathered her bffs child. he got away with the rape since his father owns the town and pays everyone off. she continually ignores her friend and friends brother. she decides that her friend was just making the whole rape up. that brad is the victim and falsely accused. FOR NO F*ING REASON EXCEPT THE RAPIST SAYS HER BFFS FAMILY HATES HIM.

i just don't get it. she's an f*ing idiot. i might actually stop this one. its God aweful.

all because h is mad the H didn't call her over 10 years ago after a kiss and didn't make a big deal when they met again. like i said i want to o punch her.

if i was the BFF, I'd kick her freeloading ass out of my house and hire a loyal person to run my business while I'm away. she had absolutely no loyalty to her supposed bff.

Couldn’t finish!

I very rarely discard a book halfway through, but I simply couldn’t listen to another word of it. First, MacKenzie behaves and thinks on 16-year-old level. She switches off and on like a light switch between Brad (smooth operator/ known rapist) and Isaac , the brother of the rape victim- a childhood friend of hers, and who wants to protect her from any danger. I mean, seriously, who thinks like that??? THEN, she goes out with bad Brad, not once, but TWICE! Stupid, immature Mackenzie doesn’t deserve a good man, and I can’t listen long enough to see I how it ends.

Yeah, throat punch

The Heroine is stupid and disloyal. You don't know who to trust but you would choose to trust a person who is accused of raping your friend, fathering her child, and not the person who gave you a job and use of her home.

Then the male protector turns into a cry baby and whines and pouts like a child all throughout the book and especially at the end. I CAN'T STAND IT

beyond annoyed

I just wanted to give up... the way the narrator did the main heroine character was just beyond annoying.... i wish people would put spoilers in their reviews.. it would have saved me the pain of this audio... warning... spoilers

just took way too long to explain why she was in protective custody... she witnessed a crime boss and his brothers torturing a man... there i said it... and then she goes out with the rapist Brad even after she was told that he did that to Haley and he was Taz's father... really!!... oh my god!.... just over it... dragged out way too long...

My favorite book in the series!

I love the suspense, the drama, and the romance of the story. I liked the fact that she actually had a reason to be so fearful. It some of the other books, it seems like the main character is overreacting. In this book, it seems as though the characters responded a little more appropriately to their circumstances.

I also love how the writer intertwines characters from the previous books into each book in the series.
