Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don’t make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

Publisher's Summary
The Psychology of Winning will teach you how to program your mind for success and achievement.
Imagine there are five seconds left to play, your team is down by one point and the ball is in your hands. Thousands of people are cheering. It's your chance to win!
It's a moment you've worked for all your life. Imagine the feeling. Is it too much pressure? Or is it tremendous excitement? Whether you realize it or not, you are in the game! And winning is only an attitude away. Pressure or excitement, the choice is yours.
The moment you've been working for all your life may happen today: that unfinished report on your desk could be the best project ever, you could inspire your customers to make unprecedented new orders, your employees could set new performance standards under your leadership, or you could have the best moment of your life with your family or friends. The outcome of the game is on your shoulders. So ask yourself:
- Is my career a runaway success?
- Am I a champion to my family?
- Am I excited to get up every morning and start another day in my own shoes?
Winners can honestly answer each question “yes.”

I bought this in the early 80s. Lost it in Katrina
If you could sum up The Psychology of Winning in three words, what would they be?
Motivational, and still relevant.
What did you like best about this story?
He is not a negative psychologist. A lot of doctors use reverse psychology, and are brutal. Dr. Waitley is just the opposite. He is very encouraging, and speaks to me like an old friend.
Have you listened to any of Denis Waitley’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes. All of his materials are excellent.
What did you learn from The Psychology of Winning that you would use in your daily life?
Overcoming fear of living daily live. Look more to the future, rather than rehashing the past. Working toward being all that I can be and leaving a legacy for my children. I also bought the same title updated for the 21st century and the digital age. I definetly want to hear what Dr. Waitley has to say.
Any additional comments?
I would recommend this author because his advice is meaningful. I am so happy to have found this on Audible. I have wanted to replace this title for many years. I lost my original cassette tapes and workbook in Katrina, in 2005.

Classic And Timeless Principles
The principles are timeless and classic. I listen to a lot of positive psychology books and authors. Eventually they all say the same things but I have a feeling a lot of newer authors owe a lot to this book.
Listening to this book 36 years after original publication makes his futuristic comments entertaining and cool in a retro sort of way.
Its a good listen. I'll replay it a few more times to really pick out the nuggets. But for the most part I found it encouraging to re-emphasize positive habits that I have been working on such as visualization.

Winning
I discovered Denis Waitley via an interview Darren Hardy conducted for Success Magazine a decade ago. I have access to that material but never really acted upon it. Until I listened to the audio and found new gems to implement to my business and my mindset. We all have choices. We can be winners or losers. Denis Waitley goes through 10 ways you can build up that mindset of winning and it's very simple. However, would you do it?
