Publisher's Summary

Hear award-winning actress Carey Mulligan tell the story of one young family's search for the perfect pup. A variety of adorable breeds are considered, but sometimes the ideal dog is a little closer to home.

Bedtime stories are narrated by the world’s most celebrated voices and written with no beginning, middle, or end so you don’t stay up to hear what happens next. They're interesting enough to give your mind something to focus on, but delivered in a way that encourages sleep.

This title is part of The Audible Sleep Collection, exclusive audio experiences created to help you fall asleep, stay asleep, and wake up in the right morning mindset. New and free for members.

Adopt me

Puppy adoption was a pleasant story to fall asleep to.
I’ll have to enjoy this one a few more times to find out how it ends.

Awful narration!!

Was this supposed to be soothing? A story about a puppy yet told in a monotone, “newsroom” like way. Weird tempo of sentences was very annoying. No warm and cozy puppy story. Quit after about 10 min.

Fabulous. What a voice.

I have listened to this so many times but have never heard the whole thing. Which is the point, right? The story is easy to let go of, I guess. Ms Mulligans performance is pitch perfect. Her voice is lush and beautiful. Really nice. Be sure to use end of chapter feature or the Audible announcement may wake you up!

Soothing voice

I don't listen to this kind of bedtime stories often, but it works. Will try more in the future!

No story but a lot of descriptions

as a bedtime experience, ifyou fall asleep you won’t miss anything but if you’re wide awake you’ll be wanting more. Amazing to hear Carey Mulligan modify her voice for this- she’s like HAL from 2001 by the end!

10 stars

This recording was utterly soothing. I loved all of the little references throughout the story to sensory experiences that were completely relatable. Cary Mulligan did an excellent job. More stories like this please Audible, on the double!

I’ve never gotten through the whole story

It puts me to sleep every time which is the goal and Carrie Mulligans voice is so soothing. I hope she will read more bedtime stories.

Story Mismatch with Carey Mulligan Narration

I greatly admire Ms Mulligan's talent in film. She is an actor of depth, breadth, and substance. The gravitas of her voice and pronunciation (to this American listener) slowed for a bedtime story rhythm, overpowers the simplicity of this little story. I don't want to hear a deep, rich, very formal English voice trying to convey the cuteness of a puppy named Peanut. It didn't work and I couldn't finish more than a few minutes.

This Reminds Me Of The Adoption Of My New Dog

This story reminds me of the day I adopted my new dog Lidiya on Easter Eve 2021! I lost my other rat terrier at age 15 from health problems, and another rat terrier came into my life in Spring 2021 in late March to her adoption on April 3rd (Easter Eve)!
