Story
Oz Gallagher does not do relationships well. Bored and jobless after another disastrous hook up, he decides to leave London for a temporary job in the wilds of Cornwall. Surely managing a stately home on a country estate will be easier than navigating the detritus of his relationships at home. Six months there will alleviate a bit of his wanderlust and then he can come back to London as footloose and fancy free as the day he left it. However, when he gets there, he finds a house in danger of crumbling to the ground and a man who is completely unlike anyone he’s ever met.

Story
Is it really wrong to want to murder your boss? Dylan has worked for Gabe for two years. Two long years of sarcastic comments. Two long years of insults, and having to redo the coffee pot four times in the mornings to meet his exacting standards. Not surprisingly he has devoted a lot of time to increasingly inventive ways to murder Gabe. From stabbing him with a cake fork, to garrotting him with his expensive tie, Dylan has thought of everything. However, a chance encounter opens his eyes to the attraction that has always lain between them, concealed by the layers of antipathy.

“You are the savior of mankind” are the last words I ever expected to hear while nibbling on fries. The thing is, I’m not mankind saving material. I don’t even have magic (and just found out it exists). I’m the most boring, normal(ish) human ever. Suddenly, I’m being tossed right into the middle of a fight that started years before I was even born, and then I get partnered up with Alastair, a quirky magical Guardian. He is rather attractive and sweet when he’s not into the whole “woe is me, I can’t let myself fall in love with you” nonsense.

My whole life, I’ve been taught to despise shifters. So when I’m hired to track two escaped convicts, I’m suddenly thrust into the world I hate - or thought I did. Yet I’m inexplicably drawn to the alpha of the pack, whose land the convicts may be hiding on. He’s different than any shifter I've ever met - laidback and quick to laugh, caring, and protective. As secrets are revealed, I start to wonder if everything I’ve been raised to believe was a lie, though it may not matter, because it seems like someone wants us dead.

Publisher's Summary
Levi Black has mostly recovered from the events of a year ago. The only lingering effects are that he’s much more well-known in York than he’d like to be, and he’s a lot more cautious about walking around his house naked.
However, those events brought him the capricious and fascinating Blue, so he’s not complaining. On the contrary, he’s happy, in love, and looking forward to Blue finally moving in with him. And if sometimes he wonders what Blue sees in a boring cartoonist, he keeps that to himself.
Blue Billings is finally ready to throw off the memories of his past and move in with the person who means the most in the world to him. His psychic abilities have grown in the last year to his mentor Tom's consternation, but Blue is determined to look on the bright side. He’s also focused on ignoring all the warning signs that he’s received lately.
However, even deeply buried secrets have a way of rising to the surface. And when a surprise from Blue’s past turns up and draws them away to a lonely house on the Yorkshire moors, Levi and Blue must fight for their survival once again.
From best-selling author Lily Morton comes the second book in the Black & Blue series. The books are intended to be listened to in order.

So good
I love Lily Morton’s books and Joel Leslies narration. And this book didn’t disappoint. I’m glad I waited to listen to it because the audio book just brings the story to life. It was so fun and funny and creepy and awesome. It’s not her typical style. It of course is in keeping with the Amazing Blue Billings but not her other books. I strongly recommend this title

Weird edits
I’ve listened to a lot of Joel’s narration. He’s my favorite narrator by far, which is why I was REALLY taken aback by the weird edits in this book. I’ve never heard him do this before. Almost every five minutes or so, sometimes more, there were edits that sounded like he was speaking into a bucket. They were really jarring and took me out of the story every time. I really hope that isn’t a trend with other books after this. :-/
As for the story… ugh. It just doesn’t have the heart of the first book. Blue and Levi seem so different in this book, and the plot itself was kind of cheap. I never thought I’d think that about a Lily book… but the first book is one of my favorites by her. This one was just… really disappointing.
Regardless of all that, Joel is a master at accents and FEELING and just… acting. That’s why I finished it.

Blue and Levi Forever!
I waited for the audiobook to come out so I could experience Blue and Levi's adventure on a different level, just like I did on the first book. Joel's narration always adds a bit of extra touch when it comes to Lily Morton's books and his performance for this book is perfection.
I also listened to this one during day time because Lily's so good in giving us the creepy vibes when it comes to Blue and Levi's ghostly adventure coupled that with Joel's narration, I just know it'll be a different level of all the feels, including being scared in certain parts of the story. lol.
This one is another hit for Lily and Joel. Blue and Levi are amazing, their relationship going the next level and of course, more adventures together. Five star! Will there be more of Blue and Levi? I hope so.

Enjoyable paranormal adventure with a great couple
Considering how much I enjoyed the first book of the Black and Blue series, I was pretty excited about what the couple's second adventure would entail. And while I hadn't initially intended to wait for the audiobook release of The Quiet House, I had heard a lot of praise for Joel Leslie's performance in The Mysterious and Amazing Blue Billings, so I was more than happy it worked out that way.
The Quiet House had a very unique feel and storyline. I always enjoy stories featuring established couples because we get the opportunity to see a magnified chemistry that has had a chance to develop and solidify with time. I loved seeing Levi and Blue together on this adventure in a house with quite the reputation for its powerful spirits. Truthfully, I was a little surprised at how uncertain both men were concerning their importance and role in one another's life. While that feels like an honest characterization of a newer relationship, I don't know that it completely gelled with how I saw Levi and Blue at the end of the first book. That said, I enjoyed watching their bond and trust in their relationship deepen over the course of The Quiet House as much as I enjoyed their playful banter and teasing.
The paranormal aspect also felt pretty different than I initially expected. Once again, I enjoyed how unique the setting and experiences were in The Quiet House. The author's descriptions are always so colorful and fantastic, and the scenes really do come to life. Of course, this is only enhanced by the fun and consuming performance Joel always puts into his narration. But where The Mysterious and Amazing Blue Billings had a great spooky factor, The Quiet House had a more theatrical haunting vibe. That isn't to say that the images and story weren't great and incredibly unique, because they certainly were, it just didn't have that scary vibe that had me jumping or anticipating the next sudden reveal.
All in all, I enjoyed the audiobook of The Quiet House. The narration is boisterous and fun, and the story very unique.

BRILLIANT! A thrilling read!
Oh Em Gosh, you guys! I heard a few mixed reviews on this sequel to the Mysterious Blue Billings, but I have got to say that this was utterly brilliant! I loved every second of it. The characters are true to themselves and I love how they take everything in stride together. Levi and Blue are so wonderful and I adore their relationship. The insecurities and courage to communicate is such a relatable aspect to their relationship. Thank you Lily Morton for this master piece. What a fun, spooky ride! 👻 As always, bravo to Joel Leslie for the wonderful, animated narration 👏👏👏 I highly recommend this book, as well as the first one. Hands down, five stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Absolutely Fantastic!
With love, terror and adventure, Black and Blue hits the top! Well-written and instrumented; like book #1, keep this series -these character lives- winding out to enrich all around them. Kudos on whom you chose to widen their "family" and begin the tapestry to include others. Please keep them true. Please keep your series to it's belevolence. Too many have not the charm of suspense, hardship and trials; but also joy, tenderness and relief; all while not making things crude, soul-destroying and violent. I'd say Gold Star if not for how cheap gold is to your work! Well done!

Disappointed
The first book was so good and catching.
This one was very predictable and lacking. They story seemed dull.
And while I usually like Joel Leslie narrating. And I never had anything to complain about on his work. This book seemed gotten it all. The sound was off, there was glitches where he sounded like he was in an bucket, there was lines where he totally missed the accent and talked normally and there was some lines that didn’t even sound like it was Joel’s voice at all.
This book need some desperate rechecking or editing on the audio version. With better audio the all over experience night have been better.

Great author performer combo
It's a given that when you put Lily Morton and Joel Leslie together it's going to be a great listen, but these Black and Blue novels are something special. Levi and Blue have a wonderful, hot relationship but Morton also manages to make this series genuinely frightening. The powers in these books aren't cute they are dangerous. Joel Leslie "gets" Morton and these characters he finds the humor, the love and the passion but also delivers on the darkness and danger.

I loved this book and the series
I love this series, and I love the author.
We meet Blue and Levi again after a year away from them, and Ohh my, I loved this book just as much as I did the first one.
We get to meet some of the old characters and lots of new ones as they go looking for ghosts in a stately manor. But things are not what they seem. Great story.
The English humour in this book makes you smile most of the time—excellent writing.
Joel Leslie did wonders with the characters accents, posh English and then Irish accents. Easy to listen to. I did speed up the narration like usual to 1.35 on audible.

Love Blue and Levi
Blue and Levi have been together some time from the last book and stronger together. Then something that neither expected happen and they find themselves in a strange house surrounded by people that feel more like enemies than friends. Be prepared for a wild ride!

Amazing
I adore both author and narrator here and Blue and Levi are one of my favorite of Ms. Morton’s couples. This story intriguingly builds on Book 1 Blue Billings and we see a whole different side to Blue and Levi as Blue’s psychic abilities continue to grow and increase in power. I don’t like horror, scary stuff, no way not me. However, this ghost love story is unputdownable despite the scary parts, especially because Ms. Morton knows how to balance things out with humor.
Joel Leslie is an amazingly talented narrator and I enjoy his vocal performances across the board. But there’s something undefinably different and special about the way he narrates Ms. Morton’s books. It’s hard to improve on Ms. Morton’s writing but Mr. Leslie manages to take it to the next level, completely immersing us in an altogether unusual experience.

Ghostly Endeavours.
MM, Paranormal romance, book 2 in the series but I've not listened to or read book 1. I don't feel that it impacted on my enjoyment or understanding of The Quiet House as so much information was given throughout, truly great storytelling with great characters and lots of twists and things that go 'bump in the night'. Joel Leslie's narration was superb and I could not fault any of his characters voices/accents. Definitely a story I will listen to again and again.

A Spooky Romantic Delight
I adored this. Somehow it is even better than the first one! This one is almost like an adult Scooby Doo mystery. The plot and romance sit at a perfect balance so I never got bored. The narration is superb. There were a few sections that were obviously recorded separately by maybe another performer (?). Which was jarring but the narration was so excellent overall that I couldn’t knock down the rating for it
Funny, heart warming and a joy to read. Hope there’s another one with the threads left behind.

Hugely entertaining ghost story!
Medium and ghost whisperer, Blue Billing’s is now a pretty permanent fixture at his boyfriend Levi Black’s haunted house. When Blue’s estranged father requests that Blue help his employer, Blue, Levi and Tom reluctantly compete with a group of other mediums to learn the secrets of a historical home with a violent past. This ghost story felt like a classic Agatha Christie murder / mystery where people gather in an isolated stately home for a weekend of death and disorder - hugely entertaining - I kept wondering when the host would be bumped off! While Levi and Blue’s relationship has grown in leaps and bounds, it was good to see them negoitate differences of opinion and overcome the occasional nagging doubt. The irascible Tom was the highlight, his put-downs were hilarious! Audio narrator Joel Leslie produced multiple character voices and delivered his lines with great relish, he is such a talent.

Pure Brilliance
You would have to have been living under a rock to have not heard of The Mysterious and Amazing Blue Billings, book one in the Black and Blue series. Of course, I had heard of it, but hadn’t quite gotten around to reading it, as paranormal romances are not often my jam. However, Lily Morton’s writing captures me in unique ways and I knew I would love these books like so many others had, so I listened to the widely praised audio of book one and (of course) adored Joel Leslie’s telling of the story. Diving into The Quiet House immediately after, I was thrilled to find that book two is possibly even more captivating and engaging than the first one!
The Quiet House continues the story of Blue and Levi. This time, the sassy and fascinating men are off to investigate a manor house on the Yorkshire moors, after a strange invitation implores their services. Also joining them is Blue’s good friend and boss, Tom, who provided me with more than a few giggles throughout the story.
This spooky tale will appeal to many readers who are looking for a touch of mystery and suspense in their plot, as well as a good dose of humor, while not forgetting the love and romance we all crave. The fantastic myriad of crazy characters brings this entire world to life as Lily Morton truly has a gift for describing the zany British spirit in its many forms. Even if you don’t often read paranormal romance (like me) – these books are worthy of exception. They’re so well-written and engaging, and the plot so wonderfully character-driven, that it will appeal to all kinds of people.
If you’ve already read The Mysterious and Amazing Blue Billings, I’m here to tell you that The Quiet House gives you so much more of Levi and Blue’s relationship and connection. It’s a beautiful read (as well as fun and exciting). If you haven’t started the series yet – what the heck are you waiting for?! Lily Morton is planning more books in this collection and you are seriously missing out if you don’t get on board toot-sweet!
Joel Leslie does a brilliant job at narrating this epic story in the audio version - bringing these colourful characters to life.

Brilliant
This was a wild ride of spooky and intriguing events as only Lily Morton can do. Joel was his usual magnificent self he brings such life to his characters. I have one complaint in the production by Audible, the sound quality changes where edits have been made and it is irritating and breaks the spell at time. This should not happen when paying top dollar for Audible..
