Publisher's Summary

Marshall Karp is an acclaimed playwright known for his witty sense of humor and crackling dialogue. The Rabbit Factory, his debut novel, stars the irreverent LAPD detective duo of Mike Lomax and Terry Biggs.

Dean Lamaar is the architect of an entertainment empire and the creator of iconic characters like Rambunctious Rabbit and McGreedy the Moose. When his company falls on hard times, the only hope to get it back in the black is Familyland, an amusement park in Las Vegas. Mere days before the grand opening, an actor playing Rambunctious Rabbit is found dead on the park grounds, and everyone senses foul play. And after more characters wind up murdered, it becomes obvious that someone has it in for Lamaar. Lomax and Biggs are put on the case, and together they root out a murderer.

This rollicking tale is at once a multi-layered whodunit and a skewering of Tinseltown.

Marshall Karp Writes… Good :-)

Don't know why there are two readers for "The Rabbit Factory". They're both good but they seem to randomly hand off the story to one another and it kind of jerked me out of the mood. And that's a tiny bit a shame, since Marshall Karp put together an, um, hare raising tale of Disney-Land-Like-fun and mystery. Okay, the ending hops over the top, but this is fiction and rambunctious stuff. I'll get more Karp, and I'm happy to recommend 'The Rabbit Factory' as fine, if probably forgettable escape.

Lots of twists and turns. Wonderfully read

There were times when I laughed out loud and other times when I was shocked and saddened. The performance really enhanced the story which was terrific.

Ranks with the top crime fiction guys

I listen to all the top crime fiction writers - Sandford, Connelly, Crais, etc etc. I just "binge-listened to all four of Lomax & Briggs. MORE PLEASE! .... I don't agree with comparison to Hiaasen but thats a minor point. Mike Lomax is very likable and the cast around him too. Hollywood Homicide is a deep pool of future bizarro cases ....

Poor performance

Would you consider the audio edition of The Rabbit Factory to be better than the print version?

Loved the story and looking forward to the next book in the series. The only issue I have with the book is the performer. You can hear him swallow! You hear every bit of mucous rolling around in his mouth. I hope the next book is better.

Would you be willing to try another one of James Jenner and Tom Stechschulte ’s performances?

No!

Great characters, great laughs

An excellent book for a lengthy car ride or a whole lot of short ones. Terrific characters - the two leads are believable guys you really root for. The obvious slings and arrows pointed at Disney are unmistakable, but are actually kind of fun. The narrator did a phenomenal job of giving life to a host of characters. I hope to see and read more from this author in the future - I'll definitely be looking for his next effort.

Absolutely UNBELIEVABLY Disgusting

The protagonist of Marshall Karlp’s The Rabbit Factory is a Convicted Pedophile!!! There is NO MENTION in Audible’s “Title Details” OR in ANY of the reader reviews that the very first chapter relates the gleeful satisfaction of a convicted pedophile’s fondling children’S genitals!!! WTF??? FURTHERMORE, what the HELL are narrators as talented as James Jenner and Tom Stechultte THINKING to be willing to read aloud such Utterly REPUGNANT Trash???

don't bother with this book

the author seems to spend only one-third of the book on actual case. did not bother with scene descriptions. the book felt more like this stereotypical 1930s Detective cliche.

F word does NOT equal good detective

Disappointed in the F word used in roughly every 5 lines of dialogue. Liked the relationship between the two main police detectives. Liked the story that kept me guessing. Many other authors have written great mystery/detective novels without using the profanity and sexist thoughts and comments written for the characters in this book. Thought I had a new series to follow and find just disappointment.

Excellent Yarn

Buddy Cop story tinged with one cop coping with his lost love of his life whilst dealing with a serial killer - If you like your buddy cop stories with a bit more depth this will not dissapoint.
