Publisher's Summary

Number-one best seller

I want the one girl I can’t have....

Zoe Romero is trapped in a marriage contract with the most sadistic psychopath at Kingmakers.

She couldn’t be more off limits. Stealing her from Rocco Prince would break the most ironclad rules of the mafia world.

But I have to have her. She’s my soul mate. I want her, or no one at all.

I’ll do anything to save her. Rocco will do anything to destroy her.

I’ve got one chance to achieve the impossible....

The Lark Notes:

Ohhhh, Miles...what happens when you mix my all-time favorite couple from Brutal Prince? You get 75 percent Aida’s recklessness plus 75 percent Callum’s ruthlessness, which equals 150 percent Miles. The Rebel is intense, driven, and doesn’t care what anybody thinks, until he meets Zoe. — Sophie

The Rebel is the second book in the epic dark mafia Kingmakers series. It’s a forbidden romance full of jealousy, desire, and a hero who will do anything to save the woman he loves.

Every Girl Needs a Miles

The Rebel is the second book in the Kingmakers Series. These should be read in order to avoid confusion on already established characters and plot lines.
This book centers around Zoe Romero whose family is honestly the absolute worst. Zoe has been engaged to Rocco Prince since childhood. Arranged marriages are not uncommon within mafia families and their families both stand to gain a great deal from this union. Unfortunately for Zoe, Rocco is a sociopath who thrives off the misery and pain of others and plans to break Zoe in every way possible. Zoe has been able to temporarily delay the inevitable by making her father agree to let her finish her time at Kingmakers before the marriage. Cat, her young, meek and innocent sister is planning to go to art school this year but in a fit of spite Rocco convinces their father that she must go to Kingmakers to support Zoe. If only Rocco knew how this decision would later come back to haunt him.
In an attempt to control her out of control life, Zoe has thrown herself into studying and being the best student possible. Because of this she despises the "Rebel without a cause" attitude she sees in Miles Griffin.
Miles has one goal. He wants to make stars. He wants to find talent and build them up. He’s already succeeding with his friend Iggy but he wants to use the money he has earned from his side hustles and get to LA. He wants to make it on his own without his parents' money or connections. When he sees Zoe being attacked and helps to save her, he sees her for the first time in a new light. Despite having gone to Kingmakers and running in the same crowds last year he never gave Zoe a second look. He finds himself now compelled to spend time with her, to check in on her, and ultimately to keep her safe. Soon he knows that there’s no way in hell he’s letting Rocco torment this girl any longer. Miles will stop at nothing to protect Zoe, but how can he break this marriage contract and will it come at the cost of every dream and goal he has worked so hard to achieve?
Miles is everything. Zoe is an incredibly lucky girl to have someone so devoted and willing to risk everything for her. He’s smart, driven (when he wants to be) and has just the right charisma to pull people to his side. He has all the right qualities of his parents, Callum and Aida (featured in Brutal Prince).
The suspense and romance in this one was intense. I loved spending more time with Chay and Ozzy. The third POV of Cat was perfection. I loved her character development in this book and I know she’s going to be so good as the Heroine in the next book (The Bully).
Fair warning! Sophie pulls the rug out from under us near the end of this one in a literal life or death situation and she had me sobbing like a little baby. I did not see that coming. My heart was pounding, my hands were shaking and I could not put this book down. This is one you will need to devour to figure out what happens next.
This second installment of the Kingmakers Series ratcheted up the intensity, the stakes and the steam and pushed us even deeper into the Kingmakers world. It easily earned 5 stars! The narrator for cat was definitely my favorite and I cannot wait to get more of her in The Bully

Wow! Wow! Wow!

OH mAN! I LOVE these stories! The intrigue, the drama and all the in-your-face scuffles! These kids KNOW how to manipulate to their advantage! I have so many notes and highlighted passages to keep everyone and their lineage straight!

This series just gets better with every story! I could not have imagined where this one took me. I was surprised more than once and shocked a time or two. The intertwining stories that are sprinkled throughout really drew me in to all of the characters lives!

I can not wait for the next in this series to come out! Such splendid writing! I did listen to this on audio. Jeffrey Holz, Maeve York, Lily Drake did an outstanding job with the narration and bringing these characters to life.

The Rebel

The Rebel is definitely a good listen and worth your credit, and I highly recommend reading the series in order. This is Zoe and Miles story -although there is A LOT of Zoe's sister, Kat as well. It starts out pretty dark, and is a pretty intense ride, but the end is worth it. Loved Miles! The narration was fantastic, and I'm eager to get my hands on the next in series!

The Rebel

This is the second book in the Kingsmakers series. This book is about Miles Griffin, Zoey and Kat Romero. Zoey is the Heir of the Romero family. She has been promised to Rocco Prince. Rocco is a complete psychopath. Kat is Zoey’s younger sister by one year. Kat is joining Zoey this year at Kingsmakers. Once Miles and Zoey finally connect they are instantly attracted and drawn to each other. The only thing keeping them apart is her pending marriage to Rocco Prince. Miles will stop at nothing to get his girl. Jeffery Holz, Maeve York, and Lily Drake did phenomenal jobs narrating this book. I can’t wait to see where it is headed next!

Not a shocker that I jumped on the chance to review this audio since I'm OBSESSED with this author and series!!

Narrated by Jeffrey Holz, Maeve York & Lilly Drake. All of these narrators are new to me and I thought their voices matched the age group well. I will definitely be on the look out for their names on the future.

If you're familiar with Sophie Lark you know Kingmakers is the 2nd generation books of the Brutal Birthright series..

Holy s%$t this book got dark from the get go. Rocco is the sole heir to his father's kingdom and betrothed to Zoey, eldest daughter and pawn to her father. Her younger sister, Cat, is an unfortunate bystander to this deadly contract and forced to attend Kingmakers with Zoey.

If you read book 1 you've already met most of the players in this book. Miles is the wheeler and dealer of the island, amassing his fortune so he can branch out on his own. If you want or need something you can't get, he's the one you go to. He's got a zero f$cks to give attitude and doesn't get involved zin anyone else's lives, even his family’s who also attend.
That all changes after seeing Zoey get attacked. His 'don't get involved' attitude quickly becomes 'save the girl at any cost'..

Loved Cat as much, if not more, than Zoey. Her character had the most growth and potential and I can't wait to see what her next year at Kingmakers will be like!!

This book was intense, fast paced, and had me listening from start to finish in 2 days! 11 hours of audio and it felt like a couple hours because it was that good!!

For fans who are already invested in this series, guess who plays an important role in this book?? Your favorite bad guy!!

Lets just say I've lost all chill waiting on book 3 to come to audio!!! Well played Sophie Lark!!!

More Amazing Kingmakers! Awesome Story & Listen🎧

“Brutal Birthright” series featuring the children of those mafia families and others as well. The Kingmaker’s is an academy preparing the next generation for the mafia world they were born into. Some are the heirs who will rule, the others are their support, some are soldiers, others are business orientated and there are those who will train to become spies. The world building and character development is phenomenal. Each book in the series features different lead characters and stands on their own, the descriptive details include everything you need to know so you will never feel lost or if you are missing something. This brings us not only Miles and Zoe Romero’s story but we get to know Zoe’s sister Catalina “Cat” too, who actually steals the show near the end. I won’t say much about her other than how much she grew as a person her freshman year at the Kingmakers, and I am looking forward to her story next. Back to the Miles and Zoe, I absolutely adored Miles, his upbeat and smart personality and business sense, a definite go getter and when he set his eyes on Zoe, he had to have her. Zoe and Rocco’s fathers made a deal and Zoe was promised to Rocco Prince, who is anything but a prince, he is more like a deviant and brutal creep and so are the guys he hangs with. Zoe convinced her father to not go thru with the marriage until after they finish school,s but Rocco wants to take what is his. She tries to stay away from him as much as she can, but it is not always possible. Miles vows to end their arranged marriage but can he pull it off, can he get the Prince and Romero families to ditch the arrangement and if how will Rocco retaliate when he finds out someone is trying to take what is his. This brilliantly plotted romantic suspense is action packed with plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns, thrilling moments, heartfelt and emotional moments and some steamy romance. Sophie Lark, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Jeffrey Holz, Maeve York and Lily Drake are talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They have a complete understanding of the characters they portray, give each a voice that fits the character’s persona, sounding believable and just as I picture the characters to sound. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions, projected them into their performance and had you feeling every single one. These entertaining storytellers were a pleasure to listen to and their narration enhanced this already amazing story to another level. Thank you for this great listen.

Miles & Zoe

Sophie Lark took me on a journey that left me crying, laughing, swooning, then crying again. The story starts off a little weak, but boy does it take off. The character development was wonderful and the pace of great. Although its book 2 in the series, I think it can be read as a standalone if you wanted.

Captivating!

This is the second book in the Kingmakers series. Miles and Zoe's story is intense, complex, and captivating. Miles is such an amazing character, handsome, determined, and protective. Zoe is beautiful, naive, and strong. Cat, Zoe's sister, is an amazing character. The storyline is intriguing, suspenseful, and enthralling, filled with danger, mystery, secrets, and twists and turns. The supporting characters are great. The story ends with a great opening to The Bully, Dean and Cat's story, the next book in the series. Jeffrey Holz, Maeve York, and Lily Drake did a fantastic job with the narration. They are perfect as Miles, Zoe and Cat. Looking forward to listening to The Bully, the next book in the series. If you like Dark Romance, this series is for you. #TheFlock

Absolutely amazing!

Another hit by Sophie Lark. The Rebel is brilliantly written and a great second instalment to the Kingmakers series. The storyline is phenomenally developed and riveting, wrapped in suspense, danger, intrigue, romance, and steam. Miles and Zoe were both intriguing, captivating, and magnetic characters; they thoroughly captured my attention. The chemistry was absolutely explosive. The intensity of the emotional elements of their connection was wonderfully illustrated; I felt connected to them. Loved their journey, and I can't wait to listen to the next book in the series.

Stellar narration by Jeffrey Holz, Maeve York, and Lily Drake. Each performed flawlessly. They honed in the nuances of the characters' personalities and captured the complexity of emotions and connections. They breathed life into the cast and made the book even more engaging. The Kingmakers is a terrific series; it's well-plotted with memorable characters and one I wholeheartedly recommend.

Good Listen

Miles knew Zoe was off limits but was determined to free her from the contract that has her scared to live. They sneak around thinking that its a secret from those who does not need to know but the consequences are not what they thought would happen. Miles comes up with a fool proof plan to win his girl but will she be let go that easy.

What a Wild and Crazy Ride!!!

My goodness!!!! Where do I even begin? The Rebel is book two in the Kingmakers series and the author takes you on a ride like no other in this book. Kingmakers is a school for the children of mafia families around the world to learn the skils needed to be successful in the mafia world in the future.

This book is actually told by three different characters, which I thought was really interesting, and I was confused about this for awhile, until it really became clear why. Zoe has been promised via a marriage contract set up by their families to Rocco Prince, another student at Kingmakers, and he is completely and utterly horrible to her. Her younger sister Cat is also attending Kingmakers this year, which was a complete surprise to both Zoe and Cat. While Zoe has accepted her fate, both at Kingmakers and with Rocco, she doesn't like Cat being at Kingmakers at all as Cat is more quiet and had other plans and dreams. Miles Griffin is THE REBEL. He has connections and is known for getting people what they want or need. He also has his own dealings and businesses on the side and plans for the future that have nothing to really do with Kingmakers. What he really wants though, is Zoe, and after seeing how poorly Rocco treats her, he will stop at nothing to have her, and let me tell you before all is said and done it is going to get very messy.

I really liked Miles. He was a bit of a creative genius and so very persistent. I loved how much he cared for Zoe and how willing he was to fight for her. I liked how much Zoe cared for her sister and how selfless she was in general. And Cat, Cat was something else. I am just going to leave that here. I cannot wait to get more of her story in the future. She is fierce.

Listening to the audiobook of this story I think truly helped bring forth all the emotions of this heartbreaking, twisted, emotional, and creative story in a way that maybe even reading the story might not....or maybe the narrators just did such a fantastic job. Jeffrey Holz, Lilly Drake and Maeve York all realy did a wonderful job telling this story and I would recommend them all. It truly was a very enjoyable listen. This book was 100% engaging. I absolutely cannot wait to dive into the next book in the series. The author has created a fabulous world with intriguing characters and inventive story lines to get lost in and I want more!!! #PinkFlamingoProductions #TheFlock

Incredible Listen with a forbidden love

This was another beautiful written story by Sophie Lark. The Rebel is told in 3 - POV's - Miles, Zoe, and Cat. I felt like this was a great way to tell this story - getting that third perspective from Zoe's sister, Cat really added a much needed element. Miles is ruthless and willing to do anything as long as he can have Zoe and save her from Rocco Prince. I was pulled in immediately into the story and it kept me intrigued until the end. Several twists and turns along the way with a few totally taking me by surprise! A great and entertaining mafia romance.

Jeffrey Holz, Maeve York and Lily Drake, did a great job with narration, making The Rebel, a very enjoyable listen.

Enjoyed this

I enjoyed this a lot. Miles is a lot sweeter than I expected him to be and Zoey is so darn strong. I still love Cat so much and seeing her before she turns into the character she becomes...beautiful. We love to see it. While this isn't my favourite in the series, it's up there with the faves. (The Bully and The Spy) Audio was fantastic.

So loved this book!

This book was a great jumping off book from Book 1 of the Kingmaker Series. The stakes are high at this college for the children of the world’s wealthiest and cruel criminals. Zoe Romero is in a marriage contract with Rocco Prince, a cruel sociopath. Kingmaker’s is a reprieve, and that’s all.

Miles is a rule-breaker, even by mafia standards. He knows Zoe is off-limits, but he never did the right or safe thing. A deal-maker, he has dreams beyond Kingmakers and the mafia. He loves producing music, dreams of Hollywood and making movies, keeping his finger on what the next big market is. He is a man who provides the Kingmaker students with what they want and he’s damn good at it.

Miles and Zoe have undeniable chemistry. What starts as friendship develops into something complicated. Rocco is dangerous, always lurking, and not having it. Miles’ and Zoe’s love will be tested in ways unimaginable, as their friends and family are drawn into this battle for love and survival.

This book always paves the way to Book 3, as Zoe’s sister Catalina (Cat) is introduced as a Freshman with her own battles.

This series is crazy good. One of my favs.

Kingmakers, The Rebel is incredibly clever, fun, dark, twisted and sexy. It ticks all my boxes.

I am addicted to everything about this series and I NEED more, so much more.

Each book in the series features a different couple. I have loved this series unique narration of having 3 voices. The main couple Miles and Zoe, as well as Zoe's younger sister Cat. (There is no love triangle, Cat has her own story)

The Rebel features forbidden first love, mafia families, dangerous situations, college parties, super romantic dates, friendships, and heartbreak.

It's a sign of a great book when you care just as much about secondary characters as you do the heroes. This book does that and it has a moment that will break you down. You will feel like you are in the scene with the characters and your heart will shatter alongside them.

Miles=Swoon worthy

Loved Miles and Zoey’s story. When Miles falls he falls hard for the girl and will do anything to win her from the sadistic man child she is engaged to. Cat who is Zoey’s sister is forced to go Kingmakers’s and we get her thoughts and to see her grow through the experience of surviving this school. I can’t wait to get into boo three which is Dean’s and Cat’s story which I think née are going to see Dean finally change for the better.

fantastic

I love this series! I can't wait for the next book to be available. A duet narration would truly bring the book to life. Some of the bad male voice and female voices where distracting.
