Publisher's Summary

In the midst of dramatic changes in Western Christianity, internationally respected spiritual leader, peacemaker, and scholar John Philip Newell offers the hope of a fresh stirring of the Spirit among us. He invites us to be part of a new holy birth of sacred living. Speaking directly to the heart of Christians - those within the well-defined bounds of Christian practice and those on the disenchanted edges - as well as to the faithful and seekers of other traditions, he explores eight major features of a new birthing of Christianity:

  • Coming back into relationship with the Earth as sacred
  • Reconnecting with compassion as the ground of true relationships
  • Celebrating the light that is at the heart of all life
  • Reverencing the wisdom of other religious traditions
  • Rediscovering spiritual practice as the basis for transformation
  • Living the way of nonviolence among nations
  • Looking to the unconscious as the wellspring of new vision
  • Following love as the seed-force of new birth in our lives and world

Another successful J.P. Newell bok.

book. voice of John Philip Newe comes across in each and every page. He does a convincing job of presenting the oneness of the universe and all that is in it. I highly recommend reading this book.

A rare piece of meditative literature

A beautiful contemplative expression of the birthing of peace in our individual lives and our corporate ones. A scathing critique of the power structures that have misused their power, wrapped in a sincere call to a better path. A path that makes room for the uniqueness of the individual, but calls for the unity of the corporate. I had to listen twice because of its depth, no because I couldn't understand, but that its multifaceted expression required multiple digestions as it affected change in my life. A serious expression of non-violence and peacemaking that is worthy of pursuing. Highly recommend!

Fantastic book

This is a wonderful book. I have heard the author on podcasts and he has a voice that tells a thousand truths - I’d much prefer the author as narrator. Always searching for more podcasts that he has featured on to listen to him directly.
